  • i think squarepusher really wanted to be in a band but was too shy. look at him with his little bass on his own. haha ace tune

  • His music should be on mirrors edge

  • MY brother had it made growing up in the 90's .Im 22 in the wrong time period ..

  • @XFizzxX we still get to listen to all their music though. sure there is a lot of terrible music these days, but there are still plenty of good artists out there to make up for the keshas and kreayshawns. I suppose it would've been nice to live w/o a cellphone, I'll admit I envy them for that.

  • A pioneer. Nothing inferior to latest music.

  • I have this full concert in my HD!

  • yo these guys have a really good drummer

  • @LIGHTRONIX

    huehuehue

  • damn. still love this tune a lot. never gets old.

  • One day, the Demon lord Simon Cowell declared that there would be a new evil to walk the land and he shall be know as the Bieber, the great harbringer of doom to music. Don Mclean, the Oracle, predicted it in his song "American pie" with the words "The day the music died" A theatre of hell was constructed and it was named "X factor" Simon saw that it was good (bad) and there were many days of music destuction played out in the halls of hell. Many souls perished and one day, the music died.

  • i hate the 2000's

  • Square pushes the Kid(606.) Those were the days...

  • Remember this music when there is none you can remember.

  • the light.

  • so good.

  • modern pastorius..

  • Dunno if there ever will be a DnB track like this again......fucking epic!!

  • I fucking love this song, Squarepusher/TJ in general, and those fucking white pants. They need to come back in a big way.

  • Tom was so metal back in the day... or a little skiddy at least. Good times.

  • yeah...MTV is long gone...

  • Truly amazing. One of my favorites of all time. This song never gets old. I think I'll listen to it again!

  • This song is 13 years old, but if I played it today to someone, theyd think it was from yesterday. This is the definition of a song that is timeless.

  • all the homeless electronic musicians of the world live on beep street in a cardboard box.

  • @LIGHTRONIX ..where the music is made whit electric love, but food cant bought whit digital waves

though they dont play for big cash or little change. its simply their passion, the nature of ways.

Given a warm voice for what was thought to be cold, society shiver and consumers crack in their mould..

Reminded of a nature most believed to be lost, appeared to be no further then the distance of a thought.

    ;D

  • Beep Street is tight

  • When intelligent people like Tom Jenkinson or Richard D. James compose intelligent music, they show to people that electronic music isn't just a machine or a computer talking...is all about feelings and sensations...thank you very much!

  • This continues to be my favorite video on the internet

  • 100% omg!

  • I WILL go to one of his shows before I die.

  • this video is the best... thanks so much for uploading

  • 16 dislikes, get your ears out of your assholes people

  • @blackmamba107 LOL that was a ridiculously funny mental image

  • so if mtv was to play this now what do u think would happen?

  • @maksandwedge the general public would instantly judge it as "crap" and continue to play The Real World.

  • @Spennerama

so true...time for the world to free it's mind

  • この曲好きだぁ

  • Get your note pads out, cause they dont make them like this anymore. Electronica has died and the beetles are out to snatch up the scraps. People have become increasingly lazy with their own discipline in creating mind bending music. Including myself guilty. We have been spoiled by the fine arts presented before us. We shun and look for the next big sound with expectations. We will come back as we always do, to the real form which we left behind. Only then we will we appreciate his work for us.

  • @weatherkop check out dDamage, there are still people out there pushing it

  • @weatherkop damn dude that was like a pledge to good music i give props

  • teach me

  • ... Had no fucking idea Mtv EVER played music like this. Damn, I wish that channel was stuck in 1997 forever.

  • a genius at work.

  • this song is Grrrrreat!

  • this video is fucking incredible

  • MTV was MTV (at least for me) when they let Rock to be :D

  • 13 YEARS ago... :(

  • Man the bass line on this version is awesome! Shame the vid quality ain't up to much... 1:37 lovin it!

  • This song sounds so much better live, even though it's one of his best already.

  • Could not agree with you more, Shoes.N.W.....those were the days.

  • fantastic, awesome, killer tune, f*** yea Squarepusher rocks!

  • Shinjuku is rad. I was there two weeks ago. I wish I was there for this.

  • I love how the drums almost take the role of the melody in this tune.

  • Joa, das waren noch zeiten sag ich euch! Mit sowas bin ich aufgewachsen! Gibt nichts besseres als an die Jugend zu denken :-)!

  • This is my wake-up song, and has been for many years.

  • hahaha that's effing awesome. Cheers.

  • sends a tingle down your spine, pure class

  • saw him live a few years ago and it was so amazing, i thought my ears were going to bleed from the bass but it was one of the best shows ive ever been to :)

  • same here. He really gives it to you live, doesn't he? Uncompromising. Gotta love him!

  • If only MTV still played good music like this.

  • so true @theawesomepie

    amazing sound!

  • If only people knew how to embrace great music like this.

  • If only MTV still played music

  • YES, I agree with U. Sometimes I hear few nice tunes by Moloko or something like that. I really would like to turn on my tv, choose mtv and listen Aphex Twin, Bjork, Squarepusher and everybose who plays MUSIC, not ganja gang nigga jou jou RAP/RNB. However, black people are really talented, especially in JAZZ <3... Now I often choose MEZZO, because i can hear really good jazz or something NOT MAIN STREAM

  • if they would put this on MTV ... you get the ganja group making lame copies, please keep this this away from them, i enjoy artists like squarepusher Vsnares etc in a hall for 200 people not 10 000 gucci girls lol

  • @ShoesNeverWorn people would freak out in a bad way if this good of music was played on fuse

  • @ShoesNeverWorn - Heavily doubt they played this in the states in the first place. We got Prodigy and Aqua :)

  • you are so cool

    wow

  • I saw him do this song live in Tokyo in 2004 - he's such an unbelievable talent. I have been a Squarepusher believer since 1997!

  • I go back to "Lone Raver" and "Fat Controller" days.....Him, Aphex and even square's younger brother are all doing their best to take music to an alternate destination. They are considered the pioneers of a new sound. Hope they keep making music.

  • who is squarepusher's younger brother?

  • Ceephax

  • Indeed, "Fat Controller" was the track that hooked me in '97. I was lucky enough to catch Ceephax & Aphex at a Warp Records boat party in London a few years back too. Definitely hope these artists keep making music & pushing the boundaries!

  • Aw man, you're so lucky you got to see Aphex Twin, I would love to see him live.

  • @meamverysmart

I got him in Italy back in the 2000 on a tour with other replex artist, I was only 13 years old and that was my first club experience ever (and ecstasy too), what a night, what a night, I still start dancing a little when I think about it, the beat is still flowing 10 years later :)

  • GOD.

  • epic

  • Tom is the man, he takes electronic music to another level.

  • when I first heard this I was pleasantly surprised. that first baseline sounded very cheery but without being cheesy and I loved it. brilliant. and respect for actually playing the bass too

  • this song is such a beautyful song!

    awsome!

  • i wonder if the push ever does his song the same way twice, hes pretty improvy

  • no....

  • beep street never loses it's listen value. Perfect just like the first time I heard it......... And if you have a nice surround sound you will hear things that you really can't hear on normal speakers unless you listen real hard and know what to listen for.

  • I saw him in cornwall 4 years ago.He was bloody good. Maximum Priest is maybe my fave album of Squarepusher (ee they don't make 'em like they used to)!

  • so good.

  • Maaan I love this track, I love everythng about it. You know that buzz you get the very first time you hear what eventually turns out to be one of your top tracks of ever?

Every fucking time I hear it.

  • I think I'm familiar with that buzz. It's a wonderful feeling, isn't it?

  • true that.

  • Amazing live musician, too

  • quite possibly the most brilliant beat master ever.......this track makes me float away ... the most amazing, perfect percussion EVER

  • Back when Mtv was Mtv

  • Comment removed

  • Very very true, when mtv was mtv

  • @mwest5281 before 16 and pregnant? lol

  • Fuck yeah! Tom "the Squarepusher" Jenkinson rules!

  • thats unreal superfly

  • Oh My God! This is PERFECT!

  • i love his hand motions

  • that what she said.

  • WOW.

  • tomorrow I'm gonna see this fellow :D

  • to bad just a souvenir doesn't have one track on it half as good

    those were the days

  • yer man

  • i like the just a souvenir more than hnd, that's just my opinion though.

papalon and cooper's world and fat controller are the only tracks i like from hnd

  • quadratune is fucking beautiful, one of my favorite squarepusher tracks

and the warbling bass solo of the coathanger is to die for

  • Coathanger made me smile when I first heard it. Pretty much any SP song does.

  • this was on warp right?

  • It's on hard normal daddy

  • hahahaha i'm not even going to explain to you

  • Yep, Warp Records of course.

  • This has to be one of the top ten greatest songs of all time. I always wonder what was going on in his head when he wrote this song so...so...beautifuly.

  • A dream came true, he will play in november at Diesel Club, Budapest. New album launch tour, only with five stations.

  • es un maestro Tom Jenkinson... y eso de Aphex Twin y Squarepusher, es una idiotes. Si bien hacen la misma musica son totalmente diferentes y los dos son = de increibles aunque me me gusta mas Richard D. James xD.

  • aphex and squarepusher both inluence each other. get over the argument of who's better. there's no "better" in music.

  • esa esta tan buena vsq

  • enjoyable :)

  • square pusher is so sick it bends my mind.

  • i refuse to believe this is mtv.

  • yeah man, mtv was a mainstay for ace music back then, late night was the best...on the weekend, they basically fed amazing music to people who'd just got home from a club. i remember it weeeeeeell!

  • he took it and ran... square is better

  • Wha? Where'd you get that info? Aphex Twin says all the time in interviews that Squarepusher is his best friend, mentor, and idol.

  • master at work

  • this tune...I like this tune.

  • This song DEFINES transcendence.

  • respect.

  • Once upon a time MTV was still broadcasting musicvideos....of cool artist....It´s a long time ago....an age that most likely never will come back...sad

  • I reckon there's going to some better music coming soon. It's nearly 2009, and music tends to take a turn in the ninth year of a decade. I, like most people, just want to hear something new, that's far from the indie shite that's being played these days. We need a renaissance in music.

    Rant over.

  • As long as youll keep it underground you will always find new, original music, no matter what year of the decade it is.

  • squarepusher=/=underground

  • Don't just hear it, LISTEN to it.

    You hear shit.

    You listen to music.

  • Go back to listening to mild ass commercial music. You and your feeble ass mind disgust me.

  • Enjoy your Lil' Wayne.

  • Grr, bugged shite youtube.

  • I've been getting into this song a lot lately and it feels good to find a live performance of this track. Thanks for this upload!

  • fucking genious. As richard d james

  • i lvoe how hes always drin king booze in the concerts.

  • one word... God

  • Pusher is a genius. Greatest bass player alive (possibly of all time) and a masterfull producer of insane, perplexing drum'n'bass beats. The man is overwhelmingly talented.

  • agreed!

  • amazing :)

  • im puttin this shit in my car

  • love this track... great to see it live

  • good shit

  • Dude, when was Squarepusher on MTV? That's like.. wow.

  • It was probably shown at 2 am or something.

  • more like 4:20

    die mtv!!

  • Probably only on MTV europe or something.

  • What passion! ...I say again, What passion! This guy, has love for the Music he plays. It OBVIOUSLY shows with almost every bone in his body.

  • I kind of like where the cameraman zoomed out in relation to the music at 1:20. It looks really nice.

Great track from a great album.

  • Squarepusher is what you get when you mix a physicist with a musician. Ultra. In a word.

  • Saw him at Glastonbury but I remember hardly any of it :0)

  • Fantastic,what an absolute gem of a musician .

  • I almost got to see him live at first ave. in mpls BUT he cancelled....

  • m33p m00p

  • brilliant. so musical

  • i think i would cry if i ever got a chance to see him live. he's so incredible!

  • if jenkinson was a god i would join his church ;)

  • if?

  • a great Squarepusher track...thanks 4 sharing!

  • squarepusher good

  • I saw this one in the very front row.

The most crowded Liquid Room event I've been to.

Was before his Fuji Rock appearance, and right after Warp released Big Loada.

This event ended at like 12:00PM, and after that there were 100 or so people leftover who gave up going home, and had a ball with Tom himself until they kicked us out at 2AM. Was so funny, Tom and his friends were trying to pick up some girls for Karaoke lol

  • You are quite lucky to see something like this. I'm surprised you remembered anything.

  • What is he drinkin?

  • The can is empty, he's just pretending and he got you fooled.

  • Whatever he's drinking, I want some of it.

  • He ain't drinkin Pocari Sweat, that's for sure...

  • Sir Thomas Jenkinson

  • possibly the best pants ever. They look pretty fucking comfortable.

  • My left eye caught on fire trying to comprehend Squarepusher's awe.

  • what i would give to go to a squarepusher show

  • fucking genius!!!! brilliant

  • I fucking love Squarepusher. Incredible, beautiful.

  • freakin' brilliant!

  • masterpeace!!!

  • I think you meant 'masterpiece', but now that I think of it... masterpeace could be a cool term... Peace not War!

  • yeah.. masterpiece!! :)

  • its weird they actually had good music on mtv in the era of boy band madness,

    squarepusher rocks

  • Thank you for posting this...

This is truly one of the 'Pusher's best ever.
