Although the competition was marred by an accident, the affair was handled by the BAA and the Silverstone team with a sympathetic and professional manner. The performance of the competitoin pilots was exceptional! I am priveledged to have been a 'mere helper in the WAG organisation!

S.K.: I came to aviation by chance. I just wanted to jump with parachute, just wanted to experince that fear when you stand at open door of a plane. That's why I signed up for avia-sport, so it's my destiny which brought me here. As for aviation, yes, if you ever flew once yourself or were flown the way you've enjoyed, if you like extremes

Journalist:Svetlana, when they show total score and men-pilots see you've won, what is their reaction?

S.K.: A painful one. But you'd better ask them. It happened some years ago when Sergei Rahmanin and I were winning the champioship. We flew (as everywhere I suppose) on qualifications, starting from bottom place up, and in the end Sergei came first and I came second on total score.

It was about a year later when he confessed that so many men from different countries used to

come up to him, and everybody used to say:"Don't you dare to lose! Don't you dare!" Sergei said they were even interrupting him getting ready, but all the men felt obliged to say:"Don't you dare to give away our men's cup!"

And there was one more funny story. The French team's coach asked:"So if a woman becomes an absolute (all-round?) champion, will she take away OUR cup?" One of our team answered:"Yes, of course, why not? It's the absolute champion's cup, not just men's cup."
