HOWEVAH, the drummer that Megadeth had in their prime period (roughly the same as Metallica, late 80s-early 90s) was Nick Menza, and he was much better than Lars. I bet Lars would even admit that easily, the guy isn't as ego-fueled as everyone thinks.

Lars is unique and compliments the style of Metallica..... he's not as good as the other drummers like Joey Jordison, Derek Roddy, George Kollias (Speed), Chris Adler, Mike Portnoy (technical).... Lars is simply all power, freakishly high stamina.... thats just the way he is... still an effective drummer in his own way...

Ive been playing drums for 10 years now!!

Lars is a Different drummer hes not the best.

Some of his clash symbol & high hat work I still fumble at times and he has the most peculiar time beats ive heard but still the music sounds excellent. His style is unique to himself and it can not be replicated thats what makes him Different!!

Lars doesn't groove well compared to other drummers because what he does is kinda follows what the guitar's playing and tries to phrase the guitar onto drums and it sounds wierd at times. I think Robert Trujillo is awesome. I remember an interview when he came on with Metallica after Jason left. Robert said he was offered 1 million dollars to play for Metallica. He said "well yeah". Robert has fit in well with Metallica because he loves what he does. I still love Cliff and Jason. Robert has overcome a lot and is where he belongs. Metallica Rules!!

Why people think Lars sucks is beyond me...he plays like this every show, and as far as his double bass is concerned he can still do it...I'll also say that its an overrated talent, I'm a drummer and I have played on some db kits, and I was able to do it without any trouble at all, anyone who thinks double bass makes you a good drummer is wrong, if anyone thinks Joey Jordison is good just because of that ur stupid, Lars uses his db creatively...hes not the best, but WHY DO PEOPLE THINK HE SUCKS?

@spikeman23 True, when Jordison subbed in for Lars on some concert, they played Enter Sandman. Jordison missed a lot of parts, mainly snare hits, and the sound. Lars will make sure that his drumset gets the right strength in power for each hit. And yea I agree, the covers are annoying, especially when people have there guitars out of tune, shitty amps, horrible voices, and terrible drum sets.
