  • seeing is believing, crack the hood and give us a peek would ya

  • i want one!

  • SBC/LS motors see v8archie.com Caddy v8s (north star, 4.9L) have the same bolt pattern as the Fiero trans. no Ford :|

  • Hey I was wondering what v8's fit in there? Do Chevy and ford engines fit or only Pontiac, because now that they are out of business it is hard to find.

  • @fleetfeet2004

It's a 92 Cadillac DeVille 4.9L uses same bolt pattern as the Fiero

For Chevy small block kits see v8archie dot com

  • that is what I am aiming to do with my 86 fi.

  • surprisingly it doesn't sound all to different from the stock engine on my 86 SE. But I'm bettin there's a MASSIVE power difference though...

  • Sweet fiero, shitty camera

  • that is one sweet fiero dude

  • shoulda dressed this w/ a GT model...looks like shit but sounds fantastic

  • Outstanding engine swap. But arent you afraid of killing that getrag 4-speed on a hard launch? Are there any other trans upgrades that can be used?

  • Beautiful Car! What is the exact color used for the main and stripes? I LOVE IT!

  • @therealJeXus custom mixed colors.

  • How is it, driving a Fiero with. V8? Must have an awesome pickup. Someone wrote one, a Fiero with a V8 is scary fast.

  • Thats one of the nicer fieros I've seen on youtube so far! I just bought an 86 se, I can't tell you how happy I am with it! I'm trying to find other fiero owners around nc to start a little fiero club but, no luck... lol I've got a short video up here.

  • sorry it's not in Vancouver. Those comments were from a trip last year when I visited some other Fiero owners in Surrey BC. Heading up there again next weekend. Talk to Capt Fiero WCF

  • where in Vancouver did you say this sweet ride was parked again? ive been driving all around looking for it to no avail!! lol kidding, 86 SE w/4speed. love the body work just a lil concerned at how much that kit would cost

  • im in the c ulinary program with your daughter she told bout your car. its crazy love it! if you ever need help with your audio have her talk to me

  • This is the best fiero i have seen yet and I would almost pay anyone to see something better then this particular fiero... good work!!!

  • hey can you just bolt up a V8 to the same trans?

  • does anyone kno were i can get a good body kit iv looked an looked but cant find a decent one...im rebuilding my fiero...3.4L(turbo) or 3.8SC, ill throw a before and after vid up sooner or later....

  • i just came 3 times over

  • Is that a camaro spoiler?

  • ive been thinking about buying a fiero and was wondering the difficulty in installing a v8,

  • @thomasmcmullen06 If you get the right kit from Archie it will cost you but still be pretty easy. I have seen many installed and the owners are usually happy.

Im just waiting for the money to come my way and a decent 86to88 GT and ill have myself the only 6.2 Deisel Fiero out there. gobs of power and the uniqueness!

  • How fast do you think the car can top out at? I bet it is impressive.

  • lets see under that deck-lid!

  • I have a 4.9 and am looking for a sound similar to yours, i have a pretty big cam. What does your exhaust consist of?

  • the old fiero sucks..the nex gen is better

  • nice ride

  • hello to all fiero member what do i need to replace my engine to v8 i like to run my car like you im in bremerton washington thier is any place here to go and bring my fiero over and how much do i need to spend thank you or email me my email ederhan@yahoo.com thank you all

  • Like the color, stripes kill it.

  • I think I saw this car at a show in Puyallup 4-5 months ago. It looked great then and sounds great on video!

  • the first tastefull fiero i have seen in a while.

how does it steer through a bumpy corner ?

  • That has to be the best looking and sounding Fiero, I have seen. If you ever need a performance clutch & aluminum flywheel holler at us at SPEC Clutches & Flywheels

  • that is one nice ride

  • Looks nice.

  • Thanks for getting me hooked on the 4.9l

I'm gunna have to swap this into my 85 now.

  • The off-throttle growl of this little Fiero boggles the mind. I would give my left testical for a little baby like this! :D Sounds and looks fan-bleeding-tastic.

  • What exhaust set up do you have? Im putting in a 4.9 and i love the way your sounds

  • nice body

  • My uncle used to be in the Fiero club in the Surrey/Vancouver area.

  • sounds like a caddy sts motor

  • i say take the wing off bro

  • @draculaS2k

    What're you crazy?

  • Four Point Nine...I am "Ditkaphile" on PFF. Always loved this car, your bodywork is awesome, and that Caddy engine sounds TOUGH!!! And who woulda thunk that Z28 spoiler would look so good on our cars...it fits perfectly!!! BRAVO!!!!!

  • Yes, the guy who runs the Fiero club in Vancouver, Canada has a 4.9 Caddy as well, they're amazingly close to the 2.8L in terms of fit. Great sound, less weight and more power are welcome details too. =P

  • Yes, I know Capt Fiero, as a matter of fact, I just had dinner tonight with him and his wife.

  • You're the fellow with the blue notchie?

  • Yes, that's me (and I have a orange one too)

  • Shucks, I was suppused to be there tonight too. Shame I missed you.

  • since youre on the fiero forums then im sure you know of derrick....he lives here in TN, has a ws6 t/a, red 3800sc swapped fiero and a white GT fiero. hes a good friend of mine and ive heard him talk a lot about the fiero club hes in...his red car is nasty tho.

  • what body kit do you have on that?

  • I made the body kit myself. See my build thread on Pennock's Fiero Forum called Sport Fiero

  • Comment removed

  • Looks and sounds great, but why the 4.9? Its got the same power as an N/A 3.8L V6 which isn't too amazing, is it easier to install than a Northstar or L67?

  • The 4.9 fit my requirements. I like to autocross so a very torquey light motor was the goal. It's also cheap and easy to install. If I wanted to drag I do the 3800SC due to it's performance potential (but it does weigh more) . The Northstar is cool but cost more and would be more of a challenge to install.

  • Ah, that makes sence, how much do you have put into it if you don't mind me askin? and did you do anything to the engine or is it stock 0_0

  • The engine is stock. I just want it to be reliable. It did 200 at the wheels on the dyno. The paint was spendy. I don't really know what the total spent was. I started with a $280 car that did not run but only had 80K on it. So I'm sure I spent more on my used Suburban. :)

  • Well, reliability is there, this engine definitely has reliability going for it, and 200 is what it made from the factory, so its still going strong then, and DAAAM!!! only 280 for it, well hell, nice build!

  • hey where did u find dat body kit and how did u make da mounts cuz i got an 86' fiero wit a 4cyl dat i want to convert. it would be a great help if u can help me out

  • The fieroaddiction website has good pictures of the mounts. He was selling them. I made the body kit myself. Everything you need to know about the swap is on Pennocks Fiero Forum, use the search.

  • sick! sounds awesome!

  • Your car is still my favorite body kit Fiero, and it looks even better in person! I enjoyed meeting you and your wife at the N.W.F.F. last August, and hope you can make it next year again. I hope to have my car ready to enter then. Have you started on your wife's Fiero yet? I'm anxious to see how it turns out! Thanks for all the pics and threads...I really have enjoyed looking at them.

  • Thanks Hypo, I had to replace the auto trans in my GT and do a clutch on the blue 4cyl coupe. I have a Quad4HO and the 3.4DOHC but haven't had the funds nor the free time to start a swap. I would also like to do a custom dash with aftermarket gauges. We do plan on doing the picnic and fest next year.

  • Dear fourpoint9

    I just bought my fiero

i was wondering if you bought this with the v8 already in it?

I need all the info i can get to transfer my 4 cyl into v8?

how long did it take you to do swap?

    thanks

  • I had a 4 cylinder also.

Check out Pennock's Fiero Fourm and search for 4.9

Took me 2 years but could be done in 2 weeks.

  • okay.thanks the fiero in this video was a 4cyl???

  • Yes a 4 cylinder. I bought it for $280 with 80K miles It had a knocking motor and a busted up door.

  • You did Great job. best fiero ive seen with an actual V8.how much money have you put in it?& whered you get your v8 kit and motor?

  • Not sure how much $, the paint job and custom body kit was the big cost. The engine swap does not need a kit. I made the motor mounts, bought the flywheel and wiring harness new. Search Pennock's Fiero Forum for 4.9. Tons of build threads on there with everything you need to know.

  • I love how the car roars...Where did you get your body kit from if you dont mind telling me i love it. mines the same color

  • I made my own body kit.

  • this is totally a pants jizzing car !!!! greets from germany.

  • I finally received the engine yesterday, but the wiring's all over. Would you have any knowledge on how to do a wire tuck?

  • message sent

  • you have a beautiful looking car. would love to paint the big block fiero that orange. sounds great too.

  • How does it handle with that engine? Is the 4.9 a lot heavier?

  • shouldnt be... the 2.8 is cast iron and the 4.9 v8 is aluminum... probably weigh about the same

  • What's the hardest part of this swap? I just bought a 4.9, are there kits out there I'm missing?

  • im not sure exactly i know its one of the most difficult to do on a fiero... im going for a 3800SC because they are easy, cheap, and make tons of power.... im sure you could find a good write up on pennock's fiero forum, there are alot of nice helpful guys on there, some of which make or have parts made for swaps like this and sell them through the forum... west coast fiero sells alot of conversion stuff, you could probably find most of what you need there, check under the engine conversion tab

  • I've heard the 4.9 is an easy swap, you're thinking of the Northstar I think. I just bought a 4.9 off ebay yesterday, but the West Coast Fiero guys never finished the 4.9 page. I'm on PFF too, same name as here.

  • sorry i was thinking of the 4.6 northstar conversion.... i would assume that the 4.9 wouldn't be any easier... i have not actually researched this swap...

  • Search on Pennock's Fiero Forum for 4.9 you will find lots of build threads. Fieroaddiction has a good website too.

  • They do have a good site, but what did you do for the clutch?? I've been looking for ages, and I can't find jack on pff.

  • Centerforce makes a clutch for the swap, it may not be in the catalog or it may be the same as the V8archie clutch. call them. Ed Parks uses Centerforce in all his 4.9 manual swaps.

  • im 6'5 could i fit in one of them

  • Yeah you'd fit. One with the sun roof gives a little more head room.

  • cool cause im looking for a small car to drop a 350 ive been working on since highschool thinking a fiero might be cool

  • by the way this car is beautiful

  • sweet car

  • Thats a gorgeous ride!

  • was that you on last year's calendar? ;]

  • Yes It was in the Fierostore's 2008 calendar

  • NICE!

  • How Much did it cost to Do all of that to your Car

  • Sounds Just Like The Sts...Beautiful Sound!

  • now that's what a car should sound like! not like these shitty hondas that sound like dirt bikes.

  • Actually I think that's unfair to the dirtbikes. A four-stroke 250 sounds worlds better than an outdated 50hp, 200k mil four cylinder Honda Civic from the 80s with a massive exhaust held on with zip ties.

    :)

  • @bubbleboy80 a two stroke 80cc sounds better then some of those blender sounding civics haha

  • maybe stock the sound like dirtbikes but with a soupcan exhaust pipe they sound like weed wackers i heard one today.

  • funny but true

  • thats a nice lookin Fiero what body kit is that you have on it? I've looked for nice clean kits but all I've found were some shity overpriced ricer lookin ones.

  • thats a pretty noise

  • If they would have made this car again, they wouldn't be bankrupt!

  • Amen on that one they claim that low demand and poor sales was the reason the fiero was written off. heres the real reason the fiero outsold the corvette thats the real reason gm killed it

  • lol

  • the corvette has always been GMs baby they took horsepower out of the firebirds of some years because they thought they might be faster than the vettes.

  • Well they arent called corvette killers for nothing. Is it me or what but it seems everytime a threatcomes to the corvette it is a pontiac. They couldve done away with the camaro instead

  • everyone sees these beautiful builds and then posts " i want one' if onlly pontiac saw that everyone loved them and kept them on the market a few more years, and though the stock motors are under powered....that doesnt mean those of us who fancy ourselves as hotrodders cant make them overpowered :D (85 fiero GT on the build block hope to show you guys soon)

  • This is how all Fiero's should have been like, not with those lousy underpowered 4 or 6 banger blocks.

  • meh i made my iron duke do 200hp before cracking the block lol :P (oil pump failed supposed to put a external one but i didn't)

  • howd u make it to 200hp?

  • more than likely forced induction.

  • supercharger ummm... external oil pump boar out the pistons and put a high performance cam and a super duke head. and upgrade ALL the bolts on the block... it is allot of work. did not count on the water pump failing and the engine overheating and then cracking :(

  • both oil and water pump failed

  • @MadMarkyNL yea they should bring en back with a 5.7 l v8 :P

  • @MadMarkyNL I agree even though with the 4s and 6s they are neat little cars, the 2.8 doesn't perform all that bad. But yes still..agreed.

  • @MadMarkyNL The lousy 3800+S isn't lousy by any means, and eats Corvettes with 8s, 300+hp Eclipses.... And it's a 6.

I'm personally shooting for the 3.4, maybe a turbo after it. The 60 degree engines sound so sweet.

  • Niiiiiice car, one of the best fieros ive ever seen.

  • This is the most beautiful Fiero I'v ever seen

  • Beautiful car.

  • i want one where can i get one

  • isnt this car from pff?

  • yeah, it's on Pennocks Sport Fiero is the name of the thread

  • your bodykit is the best i have seen! whats gains in the 4.9 over the 3800sc?

  • The 4.9 is lighter than both. (Aluminum block). I autocross, don't drag race. I do have a second one in the works with the 3.4DOHC

  • what diff. is in it?

  • Isuzu 5speed

  • Nice, I'm just wondering why you didn't go with the SC 3.8L V6 with WAY more power, or the 3.4L DOHC with about the same power, was it just to say that you had a "V8"? LOL

  • Another post pls!! A fine fine car.

  • the 4.9 will bolt right up or no welding needs to be done first rightbut will a 4 cyl tranny bolt up to it if so msg me bak thx

  • A 4.9 Caddy will bolt to the bellhousing and all, hardly any tweaking has to be done.

  • Dude go with the manual.

  • I have a 85 fiero gt and i am planing a v8 swap, but....What do you do with the tranmition? is the stock auto strong enough or should a guy be lookin for a manual trans to put in the car?

  • Use the 4T60E automatic that came with the 4.9.

  • i agree. gm doesnt make much of a stickshift transaxle. they have that getrag. but they arent invincible either.

the autos are made to be able to handle much more torque and horses.

  • i have a 85 fiero gt and im getting a 85 fiero gt with a 86 body on it with a 4.9 cat in it

  • nice job on the body kit! was that your first?

  • Yes, in fact I've never made anything out of fiberglass before this body kit.

  • you made the body kit? sick!

  • What type of body kit is that??

  • Too bad the filming was so bad we didn't get to actually see it accelerate away from the camera. Nice job on the car BTW. That' rocks.

  • it will hopefully come next year my dad might bring his indy my white 84 parts car is with my dads model a

  • frickin sweet were did u get that rear bumper i have an 85 fiero?

  • I made the bodykit

  • i was the kid that was in your fiero at fiero fest at richland i have a 1984 se fiero that i will paint british raceing green with a silver stripe

  • It was very nice meet you and your Dad. It'll be a ton of fun working on your Fiero with your Dad. Green with a silver stripe sounds cool, can't wait to see it !

  • Nice.I have an 87GT thats about to be BRG too.

  • How exactly is the transmission end handled in one of these swaps?

I don't think the stock trans could handle a V8 and the bell housing wouldn't match.

  • Caddy V8s bolt right up.

  • it bolts right on to the stock tranny??

  • Yes it bolts up to the stock Fiero trans

  • Do u know any good sites to get body kits for fieros.

  • that is a sweet back-end. i got a 86 gt is their any way i could get that back-end to go on mine without buying a whole body kit?

  • Help, My fiero(87,se,4cyl,stock) get's up to about 190 degrees operating temp. When I shut off the car it wont start until it cools down to about 180-185. I have power but the motor wont turn, This occurs ever time I turn off the vehical. Any fiero enthusaist/tech want to give me there 2 cents I would apperaciate it. Thanks

  • You need a new starter and a heat shield wrap for the starter.

  • What's the exhaust setup like... sounds nice. I want to redo the one on my V8 Fiero. Yours has a nice smooth Borla-like tone which I like.

  • Sweet ride, but you GOTTA' fire that camera man!!

  • I've read your build on Pennocks. Your car is quite amazing and looks fabulous. Congrats on a great build.

  • Nice Fiero notchback, the best looking I've seen. Love the new style bumpers, rockers (side skirts), and Camaro wing... look awasome. You need a video of your interior. I'd love to do one just like that with an Ecotec engine swap. I'm thinking light weight.

  • Nice Fiero. I have one that I plan on doing a 4.9 swap on. What do you have for an exhaust?

  • sweet car man..i got a 87 fiero gt that im modifying...it only has 80k on the tach...currently looking for some kind of kit and the right rims...yours is way cooler

  • what kind of kit is that?

  • It's nice.....but I always think a GT is a much better looking car for a V8 swap.....

  • GTs are nice too. But there are a lot of nice ones and a nice notchie can stand out in a crowd.

  • i like the sound of th 4.9's but the 3800sc has more hp thats y i got one

  • 3800SCII is a iron block and weighs more. I like the 3800SCII also and would like to have one in my daily driver ('87 GT auto trans) The 4.9 is fast off the line and light, just right for auto crossing.

  • you have a light out.

  • fixed long ago

  • Nice car man,

But how does it handle in curves ?
