This is so sad. All skin colors are beautiful. What is "normal" anyway? What is "beautiful" anyway? Everyone has a different definition. I started talking to a guy who said the girl he met before me he slept with, but didnt want anything further with her because she is dark skinned and he only likes light skinned women. This is crazy! I am light skinned and have always wished I was dark skinned. I use to sit in the sun and try to get dark. I always thought dark skin was smooth and beautiful. It is true that light skinned get more privileges and I use to hate it when people treated me better or trusted me more because I am light vs my friends who are dark skinned.
I dont want anyone to think I am implying white skinned girls are not beautiful! It's a fact that black skin is much smoother, does not age as quick, is less prone to cancer. I think all skin types are beautiful in one way or the other.

I've gone tanning. I think I look prettier with a tan. This has nothing to do with race, and everything to do with what I find pretty for me. Hair dye has strong chemicals. Melanin is actually a good thing, because the more melanin your skin has(which makes your skin darker), the more protection you have from sun/ UV-Lights , but you still need to use sunscreen in summer.

umm i am white and i bleach my skin but not because i hate my skin color its because lighter skin shows more details of yourself. i dont use any dangerous chemicals i just soak in a milk bath like 2 times a month. it actually softens ur skin and no dangers.

I've gone tanning. I think I look prettier with a tan. This has nothing to do with race, and everything to do with what I find pretty for me. Hair dye has strong chemicals. Tanning causes cancer. . . . etc etc etc. We have no problem with this woman (AND ME!!) wearing chemical-laden and self-esteem-lowering makeup every day, but we have a huge problem with the changing of one's skin color? I don't know. I see both sides. Bleaching the kids....not good.

this partiucluar episode i love; Tyra isn't condemning the women who use bleach, as she very well knows that the media put lighter skinned women above darker skinned women. HOWEVER Tyra's mission in life is to change the definition of beauty, and that has to start from us, not the media. Melanin is actually a good thing, because the more melanin your skin has(which makes your skin darker), the more protection you have from sun/ UV-Lights , but you still need to use sunscreen in summer.

I'm white and I used to bleach my skin, obviously not to get any whiter bc I would actually much rather be tan lol But I had hyperpigmentation issues that needed correcting, so I bleached my face; a lot of the times, bleaching skin is not about race. I don't have a problem with the women that want to bleach bc they just think they look better that way, bc everyone has their own ideal of what beautiful is and that apparently is beautiful to them; BUT, I cannot abide the bleaching of their kids'

@IluvKirito skin. That is DANGEROUS and their skin is so delicate, there's no telling what awful effects the bleaching cream will have on them in the long run. Even though I have no problem with grown women making the decision to change their looks, I also wish we could all learn to appreciate the way God made us...we're beautiful not because of what society tells us to look like, but because we're God's creations, no matter what the skin color is.

I dont agree with this woman bleaching her kids it's wrong and terrible! i am black and would NEVER bleach myself! However if this woman wants to bleach herself then I dont see how Tyra or any other light skinned person can sit there and judge her because they have no idea what it is like to be dark skinned in society. People change themselves all the time with plastic surgery; make up etc until they are unrecognisable to feel good so why is it wrong when changing colour is involved?
