Be smart. Everyone knows that you cant believe everything our government says about a crisis which is dangerous and they have no control over.. Do you think they would honestly admit its as bad as it really is? Now ask yourself...Why wouldn't they? One word..." Panic" People are already buying radiation detectors and iodide tablets as fast as they can get them. Imagine if Obama told the truth and openly said "we have been contaminated by lethal doses of radiation." People would PANIC!! Wake up!
it was raining yesterday in calif i m pretty sure the rain had nuclear radiation in it from japan but of course the media and govt wehere mute ... they said it wont kill instantly but what if in 5 years every1 gets cancer.. there was never any study done so the scientists have no clue
Governments manage the information in order to manage the people. They will lie or change the 'safe' standards in order to control the population's reactions.
One thing I am really wondering about is Hawaii. They are a lot closer to Japan than California. If I was living there, I would leave.
@johnw456 This channel is free speech, so your comment stays, but I reported this news. I never gave my opinion, so if this rage is directed to me, so what.
@enterthearenaus Just stating that Obama is a liar. It's a fact i can back up and just like to put it out there in cyberspace:) BTW no fear hence truth.
@johnw456 Ok, you're pissed, Obama has been a disappointment, he's forgotten us and appeases the Right. We liberals are loyal to ideals not any one President.
@CHRISTIANNWO In short, it is very unlikely your would be able to visibly see if you have been contaminated, the only sure-fire way to test is with a radiation detector. And yes, even very small amounts of radioactive material can be harmful, especially if ingested. Contamination may occur from radioactive gases, liquids or particles. For example, if a radionuclide used in nuclear medicine is accidentally spilled, the material could be spread by people as they walk.
@CHRISTIANNWO Containment is what differentiates radioactive material from radioactive contamination. Therefore, radioactive material in sealed and designated containers is not properly referred to as contamination, although the units of measurement might be the same.

instead of worrying about weather the radiation reaches the USA
why not worry about the HUGE amounts of radiation in japan?
even though i am happy that obama cared about his own country first.
but enough with dwelling on it, you've reasured your people so now get back to trying to help japan

@mania17austin Well, he is the American president. His responsibility is to the American people, not the Japanese.

@MenTakeBubbleBaths I wouldn't say immune but i think we can be exposed to a much higher level of radiation then we could years ago.

@ChubbyLuigi I doubt that. Evolution doesn't work that fast.

What is radiation? Can you see it? What does it do? How is it harmful? How do you get rid of it?

@enterthearenaus Yes. It's the fact that you can be exposed to a harmful or lethal dose without even knowing it, that makes radiation so dangerous.
