  • I hope they gave that guy a drug test ,,,

  • Dosent seem like a big deal to me............ Nascar would have thrown a caution anyway for the tire sitting there. Heck they throw it for a 4in piece of plastic on the apron.

  • that was a stupid move, nascar would of thrown a caution anyways, and it stopped rolling before he even got to it.

  • @bushpilot223 good to see some people on here aren't all dicks

  • @bushpilot223 look at dale earnhardts crash it looked like nothing but freaky circumstances can happen

  • @chipchuckchop Exactly man.

  • @cpcomedy314 at the speeds they're going anything is possible no need to be rude just a comment :)

  • @chipchuckchop I agree with chip, it could have possibly caused a crash, and any crash at those speeds has the potential to be fatal.

  • if that wheel got on the track imagine what damage it could have done it could have caused a fatal accident so just be happy he could have saved someone

  • @chipchuckchop FATAL ACCIDENT? ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID?

  • its funny in le mans racing you will just see crews walking all over the track during the race picking stuff off the track and nobody cares. I am amazed they don't get hit more often.

  • derp

  • "hey I'll give you $100 to get that tire"

    "ok ur on!"

  • @bushpilot223

It has nothing to do with that, these days everything is ruined by health and safety.

  • @JJ030791 nascar ruined by health and saftey oh so you want to see drivers die?

  • @jeffg24LT21

    I wasn't talking just about Nascar -.-

  • @JJ030791 oh sorry

  • Boom boom, there's a crewman there. Does anyone have the full race? Also, what happened to Ambrose?

  • actually i think that guy did the right thing. there could of been a car accident if that tire rolled out into the line of the racers. that would of caused an even longer delay.

  • I have to agree that if that tire had made it to that track as much as they weigh, there might have been some fatalities and injuries. I wouldnt recommend doing that but the guy had to make a split second decision. Take your lumps and put your tail between your legs and make a show about it. Then go back to the pits knowing that you might have saved some lives.

  • Actually it was a good thing to do, it just wasn't following the official rules.

If that tire had made its way onto the race track, it very likely could have caused a lot of damage and even injury. Maybe a multiple car crash. The crewman only put himself at risk, to protect others from harm. What's more, it was good odds to play. What are the odds of a car going into the grass right at that moment? Almost none. What were the odds of that wheel rolling onto the race track? High.

  • Well there would have been a caution anyway............

  • Good instincts, but bad judgement!

  • If your driver needs a lucky dog, throw a tire.

  • what race was that???

  • @dfddfdfgfdfFFGFFF the 2009 Kobalt Tools 500 at Atlanta

  • @bushpilot223 LOL.

  • safety third

  • This is why F1 uses a pit lane with a crash barrier. This incidents seems so easy to repeat. But hey, American racing has a whole different rule book and those rules have worked just fine for decades.

  • @Peskdale61 most nascar tracks have them but Atlanta is just one of the ones that doesn't . just sayin mybe it's time for them to update

  • @Peskdale61 Pit walls like that can cause another safety concern though. If a cars doing 180 MPh+, gets sideways, and hits that wall between the grass and pit road, chances are the driver wont be in good shape

  • wouldn't they have thrown the yellow if the tire made it to the track anyway?

  • I'm not saying the mechanic was in the right or wrong; Although the tire didn't seem moving fast enough to make it on the track itself but even if with a yellow flag out, a car can easily hit and and send it flying into the stands. Better that one brave (or stupid, depending on how you look at it) than couple of dead fans and big lawsuit.

  • It didnt effect the race. They,re would have been a a caution anyway.

  • Maybe he prevent an accident.....

  • how did photographers stand out in the grass there when that section of the track is only about 12 years old..lol

  • @InvisibleTeeth

    Its Daytona.

  • hey at least he had to alls to go and get it

  • redneck.

  • this is why nascar does not have a "take a retard to work day"

  • @allthatremains2009 That is how they find the drivers in NASCAR

  • HAHAHA!!!

  • Common sense alone should have prevented that from ever happening.

  • rofl...speical pit crew memeber

  • he just thought he was doing the right thing

  • Regardless, the caution would have came out.

  • .....really? nascar and autosports in general involve the most science and education.

  • LoL there giving him a punishment 4 that

  • a car could have spun out and hit nim

  • he is so lucky a wreck did not start instead of talking about a moronic move we would have been talking about a terrible tragedy he should be suspended or even kicked out of nascar the main issue is safetey

  • The announcers even said that photographers used to take pictures there, sure this was stupid, but I have seen much dumber things.

  • this guy is a moron

    he could have been killed

  • He's just as likely to be killed during a pitstop. It's not like he walked directly into traffic.

  • No hes most likely to get killed because there going 180 when on pit road there going like 40-50

  • @bettendorfcheergirl They're not going 180 on the damn grass!
