I think it's completly a personal taste both are good. But it more depends on if you like country or more pop country. I personal like Carrie underwoods version, I didn't know this version even existed. But I've listened to Carrie's since I was 12. Carrie's is more bold and powerful. And this is more sweet and pretty sounding. Both are good I'm just used to Carries, and personally like it better.

The way she says some things really bugs me. She doesn't sound like she's singing at some points, just saying the words in a beat. I think the problem is, is when someone does a cover people (including me) expect it to be word for word, the same. But Kristin had to make it her own, so she did. And that's why people are mad.

Honestly ppl r taking this too far. Both Carrie and Kristin have beautiful voices and do a great job on the song. The version of songs most ppl like are the one they hear first. This applies to Kristin's fans from bway too (especially Wicked). It's just natural to love the version you have been singing for years. That in no way makes Kristin's version bad.... And she didn't steal the song. Artist cover songs all the time. Reba did "If I Were A Boy."

Kristin did a much better job of expressing the lyrics with strong feeling. Her version doesn't sound as commercial as Carrie Underwood's version. I like both versions and Carrie's one of my favorite artists in country. Kristen is just more raw and real in her version. Like she just sang it for the first time-emotion wise.

Kristin knows some country fans aren't going to like her, but I respect her for going for it anyway! Good for her!

I had never heard either version of this song before 2 days ago, I've listened to both several times now. I love Carrie Underwood, have huge respect for her voice, her songs, all the things I have seen from her has been wonderful. However, as a musician, I must say, I like this version a little better. Either way, it's a beautiful, moving song.

There's a reason why I really admire Kristin Chenoweth, because she can go from singing a Broadway ballad, to an Operetta, to a country song and she always sounds great.
Just because you don't like this cover doesn't mean Kristin Chenoweth cannot sing well or messed up the song. Kristin and Carrie have different voices, but they're both amazing singers. Give credit where it's due!

Honestly ppl r taking this too far. Both Carrie and Kristin have beautiful voices and do a great job on the song. The version of songs most ppl like are the one they hear first. This applies to Kristin's fans from bway too (especially Wicked). It's just natural to love the version you have been singing for years. That in no way makes Kristin's version bad.... And she didn't steal the song. Artist cover songs all the time. Reba did "If I Were A Boy."

Kristin did a much better job of expressing the lyrics with strong feeling. Her version doesn't sound as commercial as Carrie Underwood's version. I like both versions and Carrie's one of my favorite artists in country. Kristen is just more raw and real in her version. Like she just sang it for the first time-emotion wise.

@jch12341 - We can't compare the two of them. One is an actress on tv, broadway, etc., who sings and dances and, later on, made a country CD (and continues to act) and the other did American Idol, became famous and made albums (then did one movie, so far: "Soul Surfer"). Kristin knows some country fans aren't going to like her, but I respect her for going for it anyway! Good for her!

Actually this isn't even Carrie's song, she didn't write it. Diane Warren, who is a legendary songwriter, did. Maybe you've heard of her other songs "Because you loved me" - Celine Dion, "Don't want to miss a thing" - Aerosmith, "Un-break my heart" Toni Braxton. Just to name a few. Lessons Learned are DIANA"S words, not Carrie's.

I had never heard either version of this song before 2 days ago, I've listened to both several times now. I love Carrie Underwood, have huge respect for her voice, her songs, all the things I have seen from her has been wonderful. However, as a musician, I must say, I like this version a little better. Either way, it's a beautiful, moving song.

Dear Kristin, I think you are great. I love your voice, I love your passion, you are truly a great vocalist and you have your place in music. But, I must advise you. Dont cover Carrie... it is destined to fail for ANYONE. You did do a good job with this, it isnt bad. But, it isnt Carrie. Nobody will be able to sing this song as well as her, nobody will be able to sing ANY of her songs as well as her.
