@MichealBingham The clapper board tells us which camera is used, which scene and which take it is. For most of our scenes, we did about 4 takes. This helps the editor know which snippets to use to build the scene.
@Logan0006 Also, the real reason the clapboard was first put into use was because when you used to do a movie, and some still do this, you record audio and video separately. The clap on video and audio allowed an easy point for the editors to sinc up the audio.

@Beatlesfan1225 Yes, I guess I wasn't clear about that. In our short film, we recorded audio separately from the video.
