  • That was such an incredible dance...

  • What´s the name of the song?

  • Is this Akebono?

  • @ClaudiaVampiria This was 3 years ago, but if my memory serves me well her name was Ake yes. She was a cousin of a friend in Osaka.

  • @HateUsFearUs ACtually I think she met the name of the song, which yes is Akebono :)

  • the geishas are like porcelain dolls >.<

  • This is amazing video =)

  • camera lens movement tooo fast, shift tooo fast, pan poor.

  • @HateUsFearUs, I'd love to see the photos and videos from this night. How could I?

This teahouse is called Musuume, where Koemi, the musician geisha lives.

  • hi, id love to see your pics :)

  • Lucky you!

    What this dance was about?

  • @janjbis I have seen it once before if its the one i am thinking of the Images the geisha are suppose to envoke is Show falling and lovers mermering.

  • Lucky you!

  • maiko ayakazu geiko koaki jikata geiko koemi.

  • recommended reading: Geisha of Gion by Mineko Iwasaki for more about the subject

  • simply beautiful :) and relaxing!

  • I think this dance is not so easy like it looks. What they do with their fine hands is just beautyful!

  • Is it common for geikos and maikos to dance together?

  • @kattmat

As far as I know, there are 4 "Akebono"vides in You Tube.

1.this video 2.two maiko together 3.maiko and geiko 4.four geiko

And in "Onshukai(Autumn presentation of maiko & geiko dance, oct. this year)" ,

    12 geiko danced "Higashiyama Meisho".

"Akebono" is short version of "Higashiyama Meisho".

  • This song and dance is hauntingly beauitiful. Can't take my eyes of the one in the blue.

  • @01fey I agree just stunning.

  • This is a really lovely dance. Does anyone know what this dance is about?

  • @madenkind

This song and dance is "Akebono".

  • How lucky you are!

I would love to see this beautiful women and learn more about this mystical culture, but traveling is really expensive.

Thank you for sharing this! :)

  • That was a really interesting and enjoyable video to watch -- thank you. That teahouse is sure pretty, and so are the kimono of the geisha. I wish I'd been there to see this in person.

  • $250-ish to $500 per hour.

Thank you CaiteDesu and for your information.

  • Thanks for that tip :)

  • I'm planning to go to Japan to visit Tokyo and see a real giesha. It's a dream I have.

How much does it cost to have a geisha perform?

I heard it coast quit a bit.

  • Real geisha are from Kyoto.

  • There is some left in Tokyo still =P

  • Tokyo Geisha do the profession as a part time in contrast to the stricter Kyoto style.

  • And you would be wrong. You are thinking of the furisode-san, who yes, do their jobs for a short amount of time with fairly minimal training. Tokyo geisha of Asukasa, Shinbashi, Akasaka, Yoshichou, Kagurazaka, and Mukojima are full fledged geisha. In fact, Shinbashi and Asakasa geisha are comparable to the geisha of Gion and Pontochou. The geisha of those Tokyo districts do their jobs full time, and would probably be pretty infuriated by people who don't refer to them as geisha...

  • ... or assume that they don't do their job as a full time ordeal.

  • To actually answer your question it can range from $250-ish to $500 per hour of entertainment.

  • Just to let you know this tea house is called Masuume.

  • I love this video, this dance is so beautiful. Your lucky to have seen such beauty.

  • It's so great to see dances other than Gion Kouta. I've fallen in love with that song. I definitely want to see pictures of your time at an ochaya! You're so lucky!

  • こんにちは!! This absolutely beautiful! Can anyone tell me what is the first dance called? Thanks for posting this. ありがとう! ^_^

  • I just figured out that Tayu do this dance also. It's so pretty!

  • Konnichiwa!! Do you have the photos of this event on flickr (or other site like this)?? I would love to see ;)

  • lovely video

  • Thanks everyone for your comments. If you would like to see any more photos please send me a message, ill be able to send through. It was an amazing experience and one that ill never forget. I was in total awe watching the performance that night. To me, the shiamisen and singing stood out as the highlight of my holiday. Im not sure off the japanese names of the geisha, i only know the real name of the geisha in blue - Aki. This was my friends cousin.

  • Do you perhaps have a longer video of this dance? or more dance videos?

Thanks for uploading this video! :)

  • @HateUsFearUs

I love it. but can you remember where it was and if they still do this, I planning to go to japan around 2012 with my boyfriend I would love to experience what you have in this video. It would be awsome if you can remember.

  • @ChaosKittenFilms

It's not as easy as you think. You have to really know someone with a connection to a tea house. There are stil Maiko & Geiko. I would expect them to be here 2012.

  • Arigatoo gozaimishita for posting! Wonderful to see a new long dance clip. This is also I think the best singing by a geisha that I have heard so far.

  • This is IMpressive

  • Thank you for posting this!

    Ayakazu and Koaki danced beautifully!

Do you remember the Jikata Geiko's name? She sort of looks like Koemi.

  • lovely video
