  • I think its great that Sean Penn narrates this. Especially since Jeff Spicolli from Fast Times At Ridgemont High was a total spoof of the whole Cali surf/skate scene. Spicolli's down with Zephyr!

  • Heres what I got out of it............Cholos mexican bangers changed the entire culture of America. Zboys-grew up around cholos and took the modern style of tattooing -the ripped up dickies and vans from their mexican american counterparts. The gang they grew around is 120 years old

  • The shit!!! Those were the days..

  • I was wondering if anyone could help me find the raw footage of the dogbowl sessions. Does anyone know if such footage even exists?

  • The movie was really good but the documentarys dope af :D

  • They should make a videogame telling the whole story with this characters dressing oldschool, listening 70s rock, bowling pools, riding the streets and going to competitions.

I don't pretend to be disrespectful, it's just that new generations need to know the roots of skateboarding and nowdays videogames seem to be the best way to get it.

    Just saying...

  • does anyone have english subtitles? can't find the correct subs anywhere.

  • Quite possibly, the best movie ever made about skateboarding!

  • gimme eng subs please!

  • @perianecc the audio is in english (?) i also don't have the time to write down the subs, sorry

  • First song ; Jimi Hendrix - Easy Rider

  • Back then, these guys were the shiznit! When I got my 1st DT skate in '78, it was like... I'm there!

We all skated like the Z-Boys back then... had an old water reservoir we rode at, sprayed all kinds of skate logos there, and ripped it up!

When pools started happening, it was a whole new ball game.

  • Tony Alva was a god to us back then. Respect to the Z-Boys.

  • thxxxxxxxxxx

  • Jimi Hendrix's Music Is On Everything Cool

  • without doubt, the happiest time of my life...

  • WAIT! What about Baby Sid?!?!?!

  • @rissa588 Sid is a fictional character altough the Z boys had a friend who died in the end.

    Butt I got school.

  • @ItsNoelDur lol I watched it at school for my US history Junior year.

  • I lived off of skating as well as they did. I grew up with surfing and skating and met tony alva at the board gallery down at newport beach. :) It was awesome and I love this film and how they inspired me to have the surf/skate feel aspect that came out of the whole POP culture but now it's all fucked up with kids that dont skate like surf rats or rebels/junkie screw ups and i am sick of it man. great vid

  • Anyone know all the songs in this flick? Especially all the Black Sabbath ones..drooool

  • @hmmsmellslikefish paranoid and into the void. wiki has the soundtrack. amazing soundtrack.

  • @LancerComet123 Yeah, I got it. Thanks.

  • I love this movie but "Lords of Dogtown" was so bad and wasn't fair to any of them .........Today it is so different were they all have agents . It made all of them look bad.

  • skate shops that don't carry rails or know what a bearing spacer is. Ther's no school like the old school.

    Skater since 76. ;)

  • finallyyy!!!

  • I respect these dudes but a bunch of white kids with blonde hair isn't hardcore.

  • man i didnt know you had to dress a certain way to fuckin skate now a days, who the fuck are you the skate police. cuz if you you are your forgetting what this shit is about.

  • @KadeshLeMort your,stupid,man,skateboarding,is,skateboarding,it,doesnt,matter,how,u,do,it

  • @KadeshLeMort Your the realist dude on youtube seriously i totally agree with you.

  • Thumbs up if you think if it wasn't for z-boys their wouldn't be any skateboarding

  • @MrDoMiniCanPrinCe881 as they said later in the documentary "If it wasn't for craig stecyk skateboarding could have easily become baseball it could have become a novelty." Im proud of what the z boys did for skateboarding and I'm proud I got to see the zephyr shop earlier this year if it wasn't for the z-boys skateboarding would have died in the early 80's or it would look pretty shitty.

  • @MrDoMiniCanPrinCe881 : as much as i love and respect the z-boys, somebody else would have invented it at some point.

  • whats the song in 6:28 called?

  • @CPaulo1996 Sid is dead mate

  • @VOLTAGE28 I know he is dead, but he really existed right?

  • @CPaulo1996 yeh he existed, remember that Stacy wrote Lords of Dogtown. so everything in the movie most likely happened and is real

  • @CPaulo1996 there was no sid his name was t bone and he had cancer and his dad let them use the pool for the zboys :)R.I.P.

  • @loveofgaga1 Yeah. The 70's looked really fun. I was cheated... lol

  • hippie scums

  • Old school or die !

  • this is the shit we should learn about in history

  • Comment removed

  • All you people on here talking shit about the "new age" are fucking stupid back then all they cared about was themselves their own music and style and the new age is the same they skate their own style listen to their own music and do what makes them happy just like skaters back in the 70's did in reality there exactly alike just changed with the time

  • @mrcalobh I disagree with you, the skaters back then were just doing what they liked to do, most of today's skaters are like i want to be a skater.

  • i know real skater dont wear skinny jeans these guys are god of skating and they went through hard times people, those people played it cool and had good time, awesome movie

  • I say our generation bring back this kind of skating...if snapbacks and starter jackets could be brought, y not this?

  • swastikas at 9:03

  • @KadeshLeMort Your probally the realist motherfucker on youtube i totally agree with you

  • i lovee thisss ! <3

  • That's sean penn narrating??? doesnt sound like him

  • Man those guys had amazing style. They can be going straight and make it look awesome.

  • lol, i got both my ear peircings but im love old school, and i totaly agree i dont like the new punk skaters

  • <3

  • Thank you so much for posting this....as far as I'm concerned, it's American heritage. I was a hardcore skater from 1976 'til 1980. Only 4 years, but it seemed (and still does) like a lifetime. I had heard of the "surfing lifestyle" before I started..and I thought it was kinda' BS....but by '77, I was living to skate, skating to live! It was hard driving down the road, and looking both ways, constantly looking for banked pavement/concrete!...lol! All these guys were badass!, Jay Adams was my fave

  • @Thunderdrive I agree.Jay Adams is the Shaun White of the 70 :)

  • *good thing

  • U do not necessarily share the kind of worldviews that exist around here, do u? How different they may be from urs. (do u honestly think ego is a god thing? ur point of view please).

  • u know how Christians r 'pride is a sin blah blah blah." another worldview altogether. I just said that because u said ego and ego is pride which is sin. 9.9 Something about the humility of the lamb blah blah blah.

  • Sorry bobby and Cathy are Christians

  • RIP bob biniak :(

  • ahh man now i really want a time machine so friggin BAD!

  • Agi Orsi, producer

  • its too bad that Skateboarding is now infected by posers these days and Capitalism turned it into a business

  • this doc fuckin rocks!!!! the OGs of it all... they paved the ways for the new generation to make millions!!!

  • this doc fuckin rocks!!!! the OGs of it all... they paved the ways for the new generation to make millions!!!

  • it's kinda funny, at the end right after he says,"nothing's gonna stop us", the video ends.

  • skate or die !

  • GREAT MOVIE

  • You know what technology killed Punk Rock and so did corporate sleaze and everybody followed that shit fuck that

  • @TheNYCutube naaaah bro....theres still some good shit around...i meen nofx is still ripping shit up and havent sold out ....punk rock aint dead....its just passed out for a while

  • BEST part in the intro when that kid is flyin at 0:59 when Hendrix says "riding down the....."

    gave me the chillls

  • Thanks a lot for putting this up! I skated almost every day back then and still skate today. The Dogtowners heavily influenced my skating...it was the funnest time in my life. Today's skating is indeed technically difficult and "tricky", but in general I think they are missing out on the surf-skate style...I hope that there is a resurgence of vert and bank skating with an emphasis on an aggressive, low surf style...imo, it's what it's all about...Thanks again!, tfa

  • just finish watching Lord of Dogtown and never knew theres a Dogtown and Z-boys movie man im missing out lolz ^_^

  • Lol @ kadeshlemort & @ichooseyoufromon:

i dno where u guys live, but my peers are 100% derived from these men

  • Mike Muir's bro damn I keep forgetting he was a skater.

  • When was this documentary made?????

  • i live there my hometown

  • Thanks for posting..

  • I always wished I grew up during a time when skateboarding and punk rock wasn't taken over by mainstream assholes.

  • @StraightPunkEdge93

Those windows of opportunity were pretty slim, bro.

Punk, you had about 2 years, skating even less time.

  • Yo, motherfucking Henry Rollins! I've seen some old video and pics of him skating, he and Ian MacKaye were the most bad-ass skaters in D.C.!

  • That was good¡

  • Looking back to this, is really gnarly how they skate with those things.

  • @danshishinda We skated with those battleships from the mid and late 80's

  • the z boys are the kings of the fucking concrete dude

  • Man this is fucking beast, don't you hate how the real skaters were all fucking hardcore and these new guys are just wanna be's with gay jeans and trendy ass clothing and piercings?

  • @KadeshLeMort with their designer jeans ? and hot topic t-shirts?

  • @KadeshLeMort yeah, but some of those gay wannabes can actually shred. biggest lesson you can get from skating is "don't judge a book by its cover". second biggest lesson, and i think you should take it to heart, is "SHUT UP AND SKATE".

  • @uberscheisse why?are you one of those gay wannabes?and skinny gay ass jeans?

  • @ripsawedcunt i only wear a dress when i skate.

  • @KadeshLeMort "You know. Its funny that you guys mentioned gay ass jeans, because Tony Alva was was asked, "Whats the worst trend in skateboarding?" and he said, "Wearing your sisters pant." (Skinny Jeans)

  • @morrocyclon lol...Wow,now that's a good one...yeah that's whats so strange about today's skaters back then skate gear was just pads and shoes...you had to find your own gloves. so when you saw one of these guys in the mags they were dressed like you....ripped jeans and all.but what i believe happened is today's skaters are the guys they ran through at Delmar! so the split skateboarding into two different sets pro skating and long boarding so the revolution could never reemerge.

  • @KadeshLeMort i will tell you i dres like the new kids but i have the old mind set we should all just comme together

  • @KadeshLeMort you know that these guys arent what all skaters were like...their was forsure some wannabes and posers.....and nowadays there sure as fuck are some good h"hardcore" skaters lookit chris haslam, jerry hsu, mike vallely...all dope as shit and all hard to their cores.......so dont just judge skaters by what you see on tv and on the streets, because somebodys gotta be skating a ditch somewhere

  • @KadeshLeMort but there are some new skaters that are alright like margera and mullen

  • @KadeshLeMort : dude, a guy said i'm a poser cuz i don't have tattoos and piercings and skinny jeans....
