What makes this (GM) and Rankin Bass' ThunderCats (TC) the opposites of each other are:

* Home planets were destroyed, but in the first ep of TC and last ep of GM.

* One is a Japanimation, the other is an Americanimation.

* Both about teams that are modeled after a kind of animal species; however, TC are 7 that are fictional, supernatural species & are all feline/human cross, while GM are all 5 human with bird suits, unique martial arts and vehicles.

* TC's icon = image / GM's icon = letter.

@dertylox45 I did, thanks to being an Aspie. But I never did watch any of the shows. Not even the ThunderCats (until a week or two ago during some marathon of it before the new 2011 version aired). I remembered seeing The Comic Strip commercial ever since my mother accidentally caught it on tape while recording something else back then. It looks like a video in my mind. The more I remember it, the better the quality.

The bad guy, Zoltar/Berg Katse was a mutant that could switch between male & female forms. He held both forms within! Weird eh? Check out ep 102, pt 3.

I knew that version first too, but I learned what I had been missing years later when saw a fansubbed episode at a con. It's impossible for me to get nostalgic over something I now know had been emasculated.

Try youtubing the names "Battle of the Planets" or "GForce" as those were the 2 names the english dubbed versions use but i warn you they wont be as good as this. They cut out anything remotely violent and when I watch them now the stories dont make sense, I can tell when they've cut many parts out and put that dumb robot in there.

You're right my friend but they only cut the violent scenes on the BOTP version not in the G FORCE version, check out my channel but the only thing is that theyre in spanish.

that was apparently the american translation, because thats exactly how i remember their names. i also dont remember zoltar dying at the end, just being revealed as a woman, with blonde hair. which explains why he has those kind of lips .. im looking into buying the entire 105 episode dvd that has english dubs.. hope i can find it for sale.

As I said in another video. This is the first time I ever felt sorry for a villain. When I really look at it. It must be very horrible to be used like that, your whole life was ruined all so some being can control the planet, then right in the end your betrayed. I probably would have not fought back and ended my life too. Almost made me cry to see Berg Katse end like that.

This is great! This was re-dubbed, heavily censored, and renamed "BATTLE OF THE PLANETS" for the American/British audience. The sequences with 7-ZARK-7 didn't exist in the original Japanese cartoon, they were created by the American distributors and edited in to cover up all the violent bits!

Actually, the clearest memory I have from this cartoon is that episode in which Katse (or Galactor, in the spanish version)is unmasked, and the big-eye guy (whatever his name was) flashed this huge light that would only let us see the long blonde hair.

If you write "galactor unmasked" in google, the first link shows you the images of that sequence and others of the other bad guys being unmasked as well. Is not a video, but is more than nothing!
