great build man... a couple questions tho. where did you get the scrap? did you just go to the junk yard or scrap yard? also where did you learn the mechanics to do this? did you buy plans or what? and finally... how long did this take you to build? Thanks and great job again man.
Hitting to harden pieces together is dangerous, the tech term is called shelving. I watched a fool take 2 hammers at arms length and hit them together and this person put his own eye out. A costly mistake.
Great machine you got there, I've already seen the finished product and I want one!! Good job man! LMAO at who ever farted at the start of the video though.
@slome815 nice hammer!...nice belt slip!....where can i get a belt that FARTS like that?...i mean.... where can i get a BUTT that slips like that?....i mean....you know what i mean!...lol
When you smack 2 pieces of steel together cold especially harder types.you run the risk of shelving.Very dangerous situation. Shelving happens at bullet speeds and can and will do great harm to folks, yourself and others watching.I once witnessed a person losing an eye from shelving. Two hard hammer handels were smcked together and that person lost an eye. that dont grow back. Never, never smack hammer heads together with out something between them to take out the energy between them.
I was shot in the chest with the shrapnel from the face of an ordinary hammer. It is not funny! The metal went right through my shirt and below my rib cage. Surgeons could not remove it and metal is still inside me causing periodic problems. Always wear goggles and safely clothing. Two hardened surfaces should not be hammered together! Be warned! My experience was the same a a gun shot wound!
Bolt that thing DOWN!!! That is an accident in the making!!!! You could lose a hand or fingers! Very inventive use of materials,Cudo's but please bolt that thing down before you lose a finger or worse..
the ram are 2 pieces of cold hot rolled steel 20mm*120mm I think. The ram guides are just steel too, with a lot of grease between. You can see in the clip of the finished hammer I also added some bolts to adjust the ram. The anvil is mades from industrial punch plates from the junk yard.

What's your ram consist of? What are the bearing surfaces in your ram guides made of? And what's your anvil made of? It looks fabricated.

looks like a great design, just needs to be stabalized

It needs some mechanical spider legs
and gnashing teeth! *nom nom nom*

On a serious note, if you enlarge the base it would make it much more stable. Your design looks good, but the base is a little itty-bitty.

As you can see in one of my other videos, I bolted it down now and its a lot better now.
