I have an H22 EG hatchback and had a KLZE MX3. The hatchback is alot lighter and a second or so quicker but I hate the feel of the shift linkage compared to the Mazda! B18C-type R blows the KLZE away and the trans is really strong out of the box but it cost 3 times more! If anything the sound and good pump gas street power of the KLZE are worth it but the engine bay is alot more cramped than a Civic with H22. I like them all!
Popo785 hondas don't need torque. That's why you see fully built b16 hatches runnin 11's on slicks. Their increase in overall power after the crossover is what makes them great cars. Mazda Nissan and toyota have yet to accomplish what Honda has done with their B F H and K series motors. Also the C35 motors in the nsx. 300 out of a v6 and runs 12's stock. The nsx isn't even a supercar but it runs like one.

@bobfull My friends KLZE MX6 ran in low 14's I'm sure with proper driving and handling a ZE could do mid-high 13s too espcially in a lighter mx3. ZE's pump out way more torque than any Honda 4 banger (not talking max torque I'm talking in terms of torque band in RPMs). They're harder to control. Not dissing your Honda dude I'm a Honda guy currently driving a MX3 though. lol

Ouch that's quite a bit for a GSR motor. It's cheaper to swap a VR6 into an old mk2 golf. I use to have one, nothing like a 200hp motor in a small light hatchback. (180hp stock vr6 motor, I had some add-ons.)

I drive a FWD car, its a ze turbo in an mx-3 @ 8psi. A touge battle? You are talking two comepletly different types of racing. And of course a rwd would do better, the rx8 isnt that great. Try out an RX7, If you drove ZE, let alone a ze turbo you would know how nice they are compared with the money spent to acheive the same thing in a honda.

And as for the D16y8 out of the newer coupe civics from 96-2000. The D16y8 has 139hp out of a single, what mazda do you know of thats a single cam that makes even close to that power lol. I'd rather have a klze. yes the bp can make more power. But turbo the klze and see what it can do. Its got a better powerband to begin with. Just so you know the v6 is all aluminum, and the BP is a cast iron block. The v6 is lighter i believe.
i liked the sound of that KL-ZE but i would rather have a BP. i know the BP can be made to produce allot of power. plus you dont have the extra weight of a V6 to pull around holding you back a bit.
