I think I remember reading that France once considered using a "navalized" version of the Jaguar on it's carriers, modified for using at sea.

Dont know however why it was never chosen.

Several touch and go were made on a carier and than some landing and take off test. But french Navy tought the aircraft was too expensive and dislike the aircraft because it was unable to land on the carrier with only one engine. Engines were really not powerfull on this aircraft (French pilot used to say about Jaguar : "The only aircraft wich take off because Earth is round".

Than they canceled the program.

Indian Jaguar will have upgraded engines soon. This should improve thrust at all altitudes and result in better range, payload , speed and safety.

It is a toss up between Honeywell and RR engines.
