"... the Israelites should be considered guilty until proven innocent? ...". WTF! Talk about lame argumentation! Things need to be proven correct not assumed correct until proven wrong!!!
You cannot go around saying some archaeological finding must be so and so because it says so in the Bible and then go and say that archaeological findings prove the authenticity of the stories of the Bible! This is circular argumentation!
You can claim it is a possibility, but not fact until proven otherwise!
wow this is so skewed... its also verified outside of "the bible" that the Canaanite people were a ruthless, evil people who sacrificed their babies to these gods. Not to mention practice bestiality, among other things... Read the context of this Canaanite issue in the Bible, which happens to be one of the most historical text in history...lol Even secular history relies on it to verify what they want to, and of course they try to discredit it at all cost any other time.
@Matt24ishere to secular history, the bible is just another book. if it agrees with other evidence already found, it may strengthen that evidence. but it makes no sense to just take an uncorroborated biblical claim on its face. there is no evidence of many of the things in the bible that most christians and jews take to be historical. maybe the canaanites were barbarians. doesn't mean everything in the bible is true.
@doaftheloaf it doesnt mean anything in the Bible is false. This video is skewed. Thats for certain, and I speak it plainly and specifically. Your just talking, and making blanket statements. There's no reason not to take a claim from the Bible as an account of history. My first sentence was "its also verified outside of the bible". I type Bible and it seems like you were blinded to even read what I actually was saying.
@Matt24ishere the idea that the canaanites were ruthless and evil may well be verified outside the bible. doesn't mean everything in the bible is true. it, like any other text, must be taken claim by claim, and there's a lot in the bible which there is zero evidence for and much against. the flood, for instance, is a classic example.
my impression is you only say it's skewed because it doesn't agree with your beliefs.
@doaftheloaf No its skewed, because of what you just agreed to... If it is verified outside of the Bible that they are ruthless, barbarians, that sacrifice their children, then this video should mention that when portraying they Hebrew as a people that just hate the canninites for no reason and want to kill them. I mentioned one claim from the Bible, just as you said I should, and I only mention it and the Bible, in reference to this video because thats what the video is talking about.
@doaftheloaf The Bible is the most value resource for anyone to draw from on particularly the subject of this video. Listen to the first sentence this video narrator says...then look at my first statement, and i think it will make this conversation null and void.
If you want to get in to other "claims" one at a time thats fine, but i can see by this conversation it is likely not to be fruitful.
There is more historical and geological evidence for a great flood than nearly any other event.
@Matt24ishere There was a king in the bible (I forget his name) and no other historical records ever mentioned that kings name, so for a long time people said the bible is not true because that king never existed or there would be records of him somewhere. Then in the early 70's a dig unearthed over a thousand tablets with that kings name all over them. Those who discredited the bible because that king didn't exist outside the bible look for other reasons to discredit it now.
@skjoyner it could, except there's not nearly enough water in any form on the planet to cover it.
the sea shells and fossils are in the mountains because at one time that land was underwater. due to shifting of tectonic plates and millions of years, mountains were created. naturally.
I still remember when they used to say the Bible is wrong because it puts Jerico in the wrong place and there is no archeology of it so it probably doesn't exist. Then oddly they found it where the bible said it was. What makes people so determined to prove the bible inaccurate despite the evidence?
@Mayburyj I'd say most people aren't "determined to prove [it] inaccurate" at all. True Science/archeology/history is mostly unbiased. The facts are that much of what the bible says is conflicting, not provable, or wrong. Investigation into the bible causes validation, invalidation, and indeterminacy — it's not just about about 1 thing, or 1 side.
@martyblueyes The bible notes this conquest plainly... it is a major part of the bible. Abraham was not a "jew" but of an ordinary merchant idol worshiping family. Abraham was called out fathered the Israelites. Read the bible. It says all of this very plain in Genesis.
@aimeersd What he means is : we are "innocent" for thinking they were "guilty" of being responsible for the destruction of the site... They were of course GUILTY, but we are innocent into thinking they were "guilty" until proven otherwise. It's a question of syntax.
Basically: until you can prove it was not the Israelites that did it, let's leave it like that.
@Gazdo01 The way he sounded it was not just leave it at that. It was they are guilty until there was some evidence that they did not do it. From the evidence that the lady found it was the work of someone on the inside. It seemed like he was jumping to a conclusion before they had got all of the picture of what happened.
belive dates by a man? How do you Know the dates they made are accurate? the earth changes imagine thousands of years later, and you still want it right were it was?.A "SCIENTIST" said 7,000 years ago and no one questions it.?ok if you can can say there is no god, then go ahead.Your mother dose not force you to lover her just cause she gave birth to you.GOD is not going to FORCE us, we have a Choice..man has been trying to prove god wrong since the begining, they prove nothing, just grow old.
this doc is such a lie. the israelites destroyed these people in battle. the bible states that the people were so wicked that the land vomited them out. and the land was given to the israelites by God as an inheritance.
@tricey2300 Are you serious or am I missing something? You, unless you have degrees and honorary prizes for your work in history, archaeology and science, just made claims that neither you nor the other thousands of biblical propagators can prove. Don't call fact a lie and attempt to feed the viewers of factual information garbage. And how can you give land as an inheritance anyway, shouldn't it be inherited?
No matter this or any other archaological, biological, or geological facts and evidence are presented, true believers are going to believe in their religion regardless. To attempt to convince them otherwise is fruitless. Maybe though - there are those "on the fence" that are still able to process logic and reason that may be educated through well presented evidence such as this production.
Perhaps the younger generations are more interested in facts than fairy tales.
therefore, is still ONLY one person writing the same account, not two different scribes with two different versions of the same story. Just ghastly how they tried to misrepresent the birds and the number of days it took for the water to completely recede and dry up. @cheburashka1326
whereas, the dove was could not find a resting place and was brought back into the ark and resent 7 days later where it returned with an olive branch, then it was return into the ark to await another 7 day period where it was sent out again and did not return. thereby indicating the waters had receded enough for the dove to find a resting place perhaps on trees not quite dry land everywhere.
One need only to read that chapter and see that Noah had sent out both birds on the same day for two different purposes, the Raven continued to fly back and forth to the ark every day until the waters were dried up from the earth (Gen 8:7)
IE: in the earlier clip it touches on the skepticism whether Moses wrote all five books of the Torah, and suggests that there were four possible scribes one principal reason being that the Noah first sent out the Raven in one account and then another account says he sent out the dove thus, in their opinion this showed two scribes with both accounts interwoven into one chapter *sighs again*
@MissSapphyre This is the way you interpreted the bibles words, though many SCHOLARS (who might I add, have years in linguistic training and can definitely understand the original archaic texts far better than you) have read the scriptures otherwise. Even disregarding this bird confusion, how can you deny the information from the remaining 12 clips...you can't. There is an abundance of evidence that suggests Moses did not write the five books...please do not ignore those in your arguments.
this is a very prejudice presentation from a purely secular perspective. I'm only tolerating it because an associate suggested watching it and i see it pushes his bias view *sigh* and also there are additional information on it that is beneficial, however, after observing a few other biblical documentaries, i always remain skeptical as the narrator often represents the Bible from a pure ignorant angle. continue..
exzactly was is it that archaeologists are looking for in that time period to prove hebrews were there. They made no Idols and were travelling people on their way to the promised land. I dont understand what you need to find to prove they existed? even today we see distruction of places, terrorist claim they distory what they distroy. so 1000s of years later if you read their claims how can you prove they did it. we are more advanced today recording things than they were.
This vid has done nothing short than call the Bible all Lies. These anti-GOD producers and directors, use so many what ifs, and maybes, to come to a conclusion that it was just society deterioations and Not conquering that cause canaan and most of mesopotamia to fall. WHAT CROC !
@jfitguru ohh is it.....Since your so much more clever than the actual researchers on tis subject please enligthen us all.
Consider this, If your God was ral, and ot a figtive of human imagination, why does he not make his presence crystal clear, your omnipoten being, could easily have created something, that without any doubt made his being true.
But sadly all you have is your over zelus belief in the supernatural, and come tide or highwater, the rest of us unbelivers will burn in hell.
@ueks69 If my God was "ral".. Who is ral? And figtive? omnipoten? Hey use spell check a little. I dont mind abbreviations but this is too much. Same with zelus, by the way. Also the term you are looking for is "come hell or highwater". Its ok you dont believe, I dont mind that you have a hate for someone's belief, but this vid is obviously using way too many assumptions and implications. Far too many to state in this short 500 character box.
@jfitguru state them in several boxes. if you are a believer, then how dare you say this video makes "too many assumptions and implications". HAVE YOU READ THE BIBLE. Believe what you want, that's your choice (I am a religious by the way), but even I think that your claims are pushing the boundaries of logic and simple reason.
@MrHarryChristmas Sure thing.. first this vid is claiming ie:William Dever that the bible is NOT true and that all 31 sites that the bible says Joshua conquered, probably did not (calling scriptures, Lies).. Then they are assuming all this based on two sites excavated and Now they think they know all that Happened !!!? LOL, I dont think so.. Let me tell you how I see it, I believe in the bible EXPLICITYLY.. It's these Excavators that have it wrong ! NOT the bible..!
CONT: IF Science finds something that contradicts bible, then they need to go back & find where they got it wrong. Because if Joshua and the scripture says he conquered a city, then HE CONQUERED IT !.. They claim that AI and Hazor along with Jericho were obviously conquered over a 1000 years and therefore Joshua couldnt have done it.. HA !! Then these archeaologists need to go BACK to their excavations and RE-THINK their findings, because the bible will prove them WRONG !!
@jfitguru You are seriously misinformed. They are not basing their information on only the two archaeological sites. They've excavated all 31 and found no signs of battle during the Israelite's time in many of them. And if you listen, I'm sure you'll realize that the documentary does not call the scriptures a lie at any time but rather use it as a source of information seeking confirmation. They even suggest that the bible does point to many truths, it has only been fitted with exaggerations.
@MrHarryChristmas Uh huh.. and you call yourself a believer ? No they have not completely excavated all 31 sites. How do I know? Im attached to those who have been and still going.. let me tell you how I believe. There are NO Exaggerations in the Script.. IF science, biology or archeology finds evidence that speaks contrary then they either dont have all the evidence, or its miscalculated or they are just flat out Wrong !! Why? Because the scriptures DONT LIE>. NO Exaggerations !!
@jfitguru You realize there is no argument in your reply except...the scriptures never lie....This is not true. Who has told you the bible is true? Was it primary source? Have you met Moses and has he personally told you his stories. Most definitely not? Therefore you have no grounds to claim that the bible is correct whereas I examine the facts and build my conclusions from there. I don't have to be blind and ignorant to be a believer...perhaps you should give it a try.

They destroyed the city and just left the ruble? i thought the israelites wanted to live there? One would think if you destroy a city , because you wanted to live there , then you will build and clean area? how can these canaans sculptures be found if the israelites build their buildings
The Merneptah Stele records an Egyptian campaign into Canaan. It mentions destroying a few coastal cities, and then refers to the destruction of the people of "Israel" who inhabit the highlands. Hazor is in the highlands of Canaan. Merneptah could have lumped Hazor into "Israel" and that's why it wasn't mentioned.
All written books & stories are the opinion of the writter. God did not dictate the writting therefore they are all flawed to some degree. It is important to remember that everything you read in your search for religious direction should be taken with a grain of salt. The Bible, Torah and Koran included. It is not the journey but the end that really matters in this regard !
Good doc. thanks for uploading. I like the fact that this is from a secular, archealogical point of view. Let us not forget though, that archeaologists have had to eat their words in the past about certain civilizations, which were mentioned in the Bible, not existing when they themselves unearthed remains. Let us not put our "faith" in archeaologists as if they already know everything, their knowledge is a work in progress.
@evanom2 Though the evidence of their findings may challenge your myths, I fail to understand "your" motive to argue against facts. Furthermore, objectivity is the prerequisite for the start of any scientific exploration. If, for example, the scholars of this documentary began with the false premise that the Hebrew god is not a “product of their imagination”, but rather a real entity as you believe, then it would not be a scientific documentary.
Thank goodness there are some of us who want to better understand our world rather than merely reaffirm our own assumptions. One will always draw the ire of biblicists when one shows the temerity to suggest a remote possibility that their dogma is based upon dubious foundations.
@tittlemouse1969 I'm not sure dubious is the right word for the ancient Jews. My own view is that as more time passes the evidence of any ancient history becomes muddled and hard to interpret. Only in recent times are there such dedicated archeologists with the right tools and technology that many ancient notions really are in question. I think this is really a matter of a better theory coming along than some dubious plot.
@evanom2: You need to look at it from the other angle. Jews and Christians are the ones who make the allegations that there is a god and that the bible is his word. Burden of proof rests on them, not on those who would hold that there is no god and that the bible is no more than a collection of myths and stories. Atheists make no bold claims and so the burden of proof rests on Jews and Christians to provide proof of the existence of their god.
Preaching is not an argument. Evidence leads to conclusions, not the other way around. You don't go back to evidence and pick only the ones that coincide with what you already believe.
This docu so lightly touches on any biblical viewpoints of the archeaology and evidence but when it comes to the secular viewpoints it goes deep into analyses, theories, concepts, graphs, animations and anything else as if trying to desperatly disprove any biblical correlation whatsoever. It's hellbent on showing the bible is just a jewish storybook! I trust even the atheist watching this can agree on how biased this is.
@evanom2 Well, there is nothing to present in a documentary(!) from a theological viewpoint. If they did it would be string of irrelevant declarative statements without evidence whatsoever. That is one of the reasons I uploaded it - it is not polluted with non-information much(in my opinion). I agree it is done from purely archeological viewpoint, even though there are some very speculative ideas. I disagree that they are trying to disprove anything.
@cheburashka1326 Ok, perhaps secular audiences don't care for theological viewpoints, but the docu (video #1) starts by asking the question "how did the hebrews come up with this stuff" (not a direct quote, of course). So from the start it decides to declare the hebrew God a product of their imagination and hence everything else imaginary too. So from the intro onwards the intention is to show how the hebrews "came up" with the events in the Bible, and of course atheist will accept this as truth
@evanom2 It is kind of obvious for anybody familiar with the bible, that judea christian brunch assumes it is to be a word of a god more or less . These hypothesis never have any evidence , so including it in the documentary would be irresponsible. It is not about a believe it is about the book. BUT I completely agree that the documentary demonstrates "made up" nature of the bible and it does it very well.
@evanom2 Almost forgot - for more than a year I observe people commenting on this video. I find it amusing that you are the first person I know of, who noticed the secular nature of the documentary, I completely share the opinion btw.
@cheburashka1326 Are you serious, no one else noticed this is purely secular? This video was made with the purpose of having people doubt the Bible. My question is: Why does this atheist secular stuff always come from England? This video is fuel for the atheist fire, its why I am watching, to be prepared to defend against it's accusations.
@evanom2, you need to look at it from the other angle. Jews and Christians are the ones who make the allegations that there is a god and that the bible is his word. Burden of proof rests on them, not on those who would hold that there is no god and that the bible is no more than a collection of myths and stories. Well, the question is, where's the evidence take us? A secular slant (and I'm an atheist, who was a Xian) is an objective 1. I think that's healthy. All of the Theist documentaries I've seen, are totally biased. Of course, this is what they believe! They're not going to present info contrary to their beliefs, and they don't.
I've studied the material for myself and find a Canaanite source for the Hebrew Polytheistic, then monotheistic change. The Ugaritic Texts were important in this.
@evanom2 - You are epistemologically hopeless. You are convinced that an investigation that doesn't begin with the assumption that a demonstrably eclectic, contradictory, and mythical compilation of writings is true is somehow "poisoned" by prejudice. When studying the tribes of North America, I have yet to begin with the presumption that the myths of origin are "true" in any ontological sense. Why is one an atheist in your eyes if one does not genuflect before your scriptures?
@evanom2 The problem with your argument is that science is completely secular. Archaeology finds what is there not what we want to be there.
As far as the bible being a jewish story book it is. To say it is the truth and historically accurate you must prove it to be. It is not. The world is more than 5000 years old and the great flood never happened. There is zero extra biblical evidence for those two examples.
@evanom2 You talk as though they are into some sort of conspiracy theory! Do you realise that if anything to give prove was found, that any archaeologist would be world famous with all the fortune and recognition that comes with it.
@Redpilldown Not into conspiracy theories, but definitely on a mission to make God look bad. The world hates God (of the Bible), only they don't flat out say it, they use the excuse "there's no proof". But "proof" is completely irrelevant. If you read the Bible, of all the enemies of God...past present and future....NONE of them were atheist! THey all knew God existed and hated Him the same. Jesus appeared in the flesh and the world hated Him. "Proof" is irrelevant. Hatred is the issue.
@Colthrone "If you read the Bible, of all the enemies of God...past present and future....NONE of them were atheist"
The bible was written thousands of years ago. No one was atheist back then. Literally no one. And the fact that the bible doesn't mention future atheists proves that the bible was not written by God. Nice job proving your religion wrong.
Another possible reason atheists aren't mentioned in the bible as enemies of God could be that God doesn't consider them enemies....
@evanom2 - - - ALL history books and for that matter personal accounts of recent history are influenced by personal beliefs and there for not totally fact. This is why there are over 3600 Christain Denominations that study the very same book. There are sevewral different groups of Muslams teaching from the very same books. I say not one of these so called religious books are totally factual. So, read them all and decide your own fate. After all religion is ONLY between one person & one God!
@evanom2 I dont understand why they don't bring up the archeology of the known behavior and practices of the Canaanites. Child sacrifice by throwing them into fire, their own and the children of the the conquered, bestiality, male and female prostitution. These were not nice people and God did not destroy the Egyptians but allowed times to repent by plaques until the final plaquge brought them to their knees. The Canaanites were not were far more cruel and evil; not victims.
@Clayton19651 "I dont understand why they don't bring up the archeology of the known behavior and practices of the Canaanites. Child sacrifice by throwing them into fire, their own and the children of the the conquered, bestiality, male and female prostitution."
Is there archaeological proof of that stuff? Post it here.
@evanom2 Agreed. It is a total biased vid, using what ifs, and implied theories as fact. Such as scholars Believe (wait did Nova just use a faith based view), that 4 groups of sholars wrote the Torah over 1000 years. An implication based on very weak and UN-Validated obscure evidence. These guys are anti_GOD and it is SO Obvious !!
@jfitguru Indeed. The Jews still have preserved the complete Torah in the handwriting of Moses, and many other copies which NEVER change, they do not allow any changes at all, the same goes with the Quran. I believe in "the source" and "the isness" and God, but not in any human Dogma. One Love
@evanom2 You are asking a documentary to convey information that is neither verified nor verifiable (with the data we have and will possibly ever have). The reason it goes into analyses and concepts with the non-biblical statements, is quite simply because there IS archaeological and historical evidence to enforce the viewpoint. To say it is anti-biblical is not true, it simply avoids unproven claims.
If this docu is going to assurt that the destruccion of these places happened at different eras, it should give proof, evidence and / or arguments as to why it declares these dates to be be true and accurate. My guess is that there isn't true and accurate evidence, just theories and assumptions.
Any young earth creationist watching this who is willing to accept the dates given for these occurances also accepts the dating methods. Also, they are holding a double standard in that they accept the scientific dating methods when they agree with their beliefs, but they dismiss them when the same science proves dinosaur fossils to be millions of years old! The exact methods are different, they have to be, but the scientific method is the same. YECs, you're only fooling yourself.
How old was Adam when GOD created him from the dust of the earth? Now if you can answer that question, how old did GOD create the earth in the begining? Why would you doubt that GOD created all, so he could create the earth, man, fossils(which there is no proof that these fossils ever had life)to be as old or as new as he wanted to.The earth was void and darkness was upon the face of the deep. The new(old)earth was completely covered with water.Gen. 1:9
@adrenaltheory You put more belief in man than a greater power in the universe(GOD as some call GOD),but yet when you hear historical records of mens writing, you don't believe? This is a battle between history and science. Is there not any true history of science you believe in before Charles Darwin?A day is as a thousand yrs to GOD,just as a thousand yrs is a day.If you do the math the earth by GOD/Bible time could be 2.8 billion yrs. What does it matter? What could you do with it if it were true?
@USAFreedomReform "when you hear historical records of mens writing, you don't believe?" What nonsense. When we read several historical accounts of something that agree with each other and all contradict the bible, you still believe the bible's version
"Is there not any true history of science you believe in before Charles Darwin?" Loads of it, so what? Before Darwin, evolution was observed. The fact that we are apes was discovered by a christian creationist around 200 yrs earlier.
@USAFreedomReform "How old was Adam when god created him from the dust...?" "Why would you doubt that god created all..." Why would you ASSUME he did?? Your questions are meaningless as all your speculations, that I've seen parotted all over the place in recent years, are based on the assumption that the bible tells accurate stories. It's been clearly demonstrated that it does not, therefore you are indeed fooling yourself.
@drche420 People such as yourself at one time were considered the villiage idiot,so what happened, why did the tables suddenly turn?Could it be because men have quit trusting in GOD and starting trusting in themselves? It is an age old story of mans declining way of taking GOD out of everything.
Its sad that you still don't realize that because god doesn't exist, mankind can't "take away" god. Wonder why the pictures of gods look like people? We created them. Want to know why god's are so concerned with human afairs? We created them. Why is there no commandment to end slavery in the bible? People needed "divine approval" of mass slaughters and slavery of entire cities. God even approves genocide in your bible. Prove god exists, or stfu.
@drche420 Wonder why the pictures of gods look like people?
The reason is that man doesn't really know what GOD looks like.As far as I know,no one has ever seen GOD and lived to tell about it.His glory is so bright and full of Holiness that just to get a small glimpse(as Moses did)is all that is recorded in history.Even during the transfiguration,GOD appeared in a cloud and could not be seen, only heard by Peter,James &John.Even then they fell on their faces in fear.Jesus told them not to fear.
I SAID:You see, here is the major difference, today we still have little "g" gods running amuck all over the planet. If you work for someone that does not have a GODLY influence, you can rest assured, they consider themselves a god over you.Really, there is nothing wrong with that.We don't call them gods all the time,we usually call them the "boss",because they tell you what to do and when to do it while at work.(cont)
@drche420 Why no commandment to end slavery in the bible?
It depends on your definition of slavery. If you refer to be beaten for not working hard enough and treated worse than an animal, there were laws against such treatment. If you really take a close look at slavery, are we not slaves working for the rich even today. They do not house, cloth,or feed us,but through the limited pay they give us in lieu of housing, clothing, and food are we not slaves to the rich and those with power over us?
Wow. There is no "sleezing" your way out of this one. Slavery is specifically endorsed in the bible. There is no getting out of this one. Your god=evil.
@drche420 U SAID:Slavery is specifically endorsed in the bible
I SAID:I know how you *think* slavery is endorsed in the bible, but its not.Because of the hardness of *MANS* heart, allowances were made in case someone did find themselves in slavery or as a worker of slaves.Outside the allowance your employer gives you,you are a slave even today. The paycheck is just an extension of provided housing, food,&clothing, etc.Think about it,we are constantly in service to someone even if you own a business.
@drche420 I posted one of the places in the bible where slavery is endorsed. It kills me to see these theist get their jimmy's in a bunch when their book is even questioned. My father said he was a Baptist now hes a Christian. I have only gone one step further. I'd prefer that he dies with his thoughts of god. I don't want to take them away from him, he has been a good man. The rest it's time to grow up. There is no santa jesus.
@drche420 Why is it so important for me to prove to you that GOD does truely exist?
Would you suddenly fall on your knees and worship the GOD you can't see,but yet still is there?
Would you suddenly believe that Jesus Christ was and is the son of GOD and call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to come in and take over every aspect of your life and thru Jesus Christ you would ask forgivness of your sins and be eternally sealed by the Holy Spirit except you grieve the Holy Spirit?
I SAID: SO you can prove all these little "g" gods existed and the big "G" GOD is only a copy.? CAN YOU PROVE THAT WITH FACTS. If you can, then the big "G" GOD is real too.GOD is real to me regardless of what you think, and I really don't care about any GOD, but the GOD of all creation,so don't even try your atheistic tactics on me because I know better.
The answer is, it depends on which god. If there is a god that is like Einstein's version of god and there was evidence to prove it, then I would consider it. The difference is that if YOUR god was proven to exist, I would believe in it but I wouldn't worship it. How could I worship such a cruel, immoral being?
@drche420 (cont) The big "G" GOD is the ultimate authority over all creation. The only difference now is that with the GREAT I AM /JESUS CHRIST,we live under "GRACE" and what do the other gods you refer to have the people live under?I am very well aware that other gods existed before the first writings of Moses in the book of real beginings,Genesis. Its really all about what you want to believe or not believe. You have to decide if it is truth or deception. No doubt, the gods you refer to are fake.
@drche420 I can prove GOD exists daily by just being good to those unbelievers around me.IF I see a need of a fellow human being, the GOD part in me will try and meet that need.If a person comes and only needs a cool drink of water, and I deny him,do you think that would be Godly of me not to offer him a drink of water?NO !! What if he was hungry, and I gave him food, would he not see that GOD was real thru that ACT?
If I myself have "NEED" of something,GOD provides.WHY,because he said he would.
@USAFreedomReform That is not some god part in you, that is you. Your philantrophical urges have nothing with religion to do. Hindus can be good and kind, Muslims can be good and kind, Christians can be good and kind, Atheists can be good and kind and so on... Equally people can be evil, greedy and so on. Religion does not decided that.
@warmsteel Now how would you know since you pile christianity in with all the so called religions of the world. Christ Jesus said that the only true religion is this: "To care for the widows and orphans and to keep ones self unspotted from the world". I will grant you this, just because one is good all their life , that will not get them into heaven alone. They must accept the fact that Christ Jesus was ans is the only son of GOD and believe on the name of Jesus Christ to enter into heaven.
The old earth creation argument is just like me saying: The great God named dfrghnj created an old earth 5 minutes ago, and gave everyone false old memories to make them think they've been alive for a long time... now disprove it.
What reason would God have to create an old Earth and put fossils there? A more simple and logical explanation is that the Earth is actually old.
@ImExtraGood Don't bother with people like him/her. Those types will deny any thing that refutes everything they believe and make up excuses to further their delusion.
@BloodStainedBane They are not assuming anything. They are using tried and true dating methods to determine the age of these structures. It's actually an entire field of science: archaeology.
@adrenaltheory ---Yeah...you can say that...but carbon dating has a large percent error and scientists admit it. They just keep it quiet because so many peoples belief system hinges on them. So we don't really hear much about the errors in many of our scientific methods. Even in fields other then archaeology.
I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm just debating my beliefs with ya. and personally i don't believe at all that carbon dating is accurate. But that's just me...
@BloodStainedBane Carbon dating is a tried and proven method of dating. It has been used ten of thousands of times on things of known origin and been shown to accurate. Your belief in it is irrelevant.
Instead of you saying you don't "BELIEVE" in carbon dating, why don't you look at the actual evidence of how powerful and accurate it is and has proven to be.
You don't sound that intelligent when you say "i don't believe carbon dating is accurate." The EVIDENCE in its sheer efficacy is available for you to peruse. It's not a matter of BELIEF, it's a matter of look at the FACTS and EVIDENCE. Carbon dating is a valid and powerful science! Sorry.
@dweeper1020 --You can have your beliefs man...and leave me mine. Go ahead and remain stubborn in you self accepted intelligence. There are valid reasons for both sides and your inability to see that is amusing to me...
@dweeper1020 --Thats fine man. But i hope you understand that whether you believe in it or not doesn't change anything. For me or for the actual truth, whatever it may be...
Well, if you choose to live your life believing things even though evidence blatanly counters it, then you have to be able to suck up the ridicule from others.
The world would be a very safe and civilized place if everyone looked to evidence and facts instead of faith and belief.
See that man trembling in the corner? He's possessed by the devil! (Evidence suggests he has Parkinson's disease.) I believe he has Satan in him and needs to be burned. (Salem witch hunts.)
@dweeper1020 --you would simply do away with peoples faiths and beliefs. the world would be a much more cultured if people weren't like you...there is always something. forgive me for indulging in something other than science, i know how it must bother you. there is more to this world than just the scientific, and if you don't believe that, that's fine. But don't ridicule someone for their desire to seek over and beyond you focused minded science junkies. and it doesn't bother me...lets continue
I'm sorry that you don't understand the absolute damage dogmatic thinking has upon the world. When all that's required to prove one's point is lots of people that believe it & a lot of energy behind it, the world becomes VERY, VERY dangerous.
Europeans already went through this stage -- it was called the Dark Ages. A terrible time in Europe where belief and supersition reigned.
There are still some countries where religion reigns ... and they are fucked up (not "cultured").
@dweeper1020 --You don't understand I'm not casting away science. You are a fool to think we will plunge into the dark ages by simply looking beyond science. Would you call ancient Greece cultured? You know what...Don't answer that. I can imagine you shitting in your pants at the thought of being among the ancient Greek philosophers. And Stop thinking I'm referring to religion! I hate organized religion as much as i hate politicians...i goes way beyond religion a place you wont understand...
@dweeper1020@BloodStainedBane@IrishHermes Carbon dating is very accurate, no reasonable person can deny that. ARCHAEOLOGY is the imperfect science, in my opinion. Archaeologists assume that seeds(or whatever) found at a particular level were put there at the time the city was there, but there's a chance (however slim) that the seeds(or whatever) could've been put there sometime before or after the life of the city. Stone and mudbricks can't be carbon dated, as far as I know.
@BloodStainedBane One way deniers fool themselves: "carbon dating has a large percent error and scientists admit it. They just keep it quiet " They do not keep it quiet! It's well documented, the inaccuracies of each type of radio dating for specific timescales is easy to find in any decent library.
"personally i don't believe at all that carbon dating is accurate" It doesn't matter what you personally believe, facts are just facts.
@BloodStainedBane "I love how much they ASSUME just by looking at rocks..."
Where do you think the idea of God came from? Humans looking at the sky, sea and earth around them and ASSUMING an intelligent being must have created them. That's really all faith is: A giant assumption.
Jericho was a ruin. But the dating of the ruin was confirmed as being many years before the Israelites purportedly showed up. Odd that they don't mention that.
There has been speculation that Ham, the father of the Canaanites, Egyptians, Libyans, and Ethiopians was indeed of darker colour than Shem and Japeth.

"... the Israelites should be considered guilty until proven innocent? ...".

Matt24ishere 2 months ago
@Matt24ishere to secular history, the bible is just another book. if it agrees with other evidence already found, it may strengthen that evidence. but it makes no sense to just take an uncorroborated biblical claim on its face. there is no evidence of many of the things in the bible that most christians and jews take to be historical. maybe the canaanites were barbarians. doesn't mean everything in the bible is true.
doaftheloaf 1 month ago
@doaftheloaf it doesnt mean anything in the Bible is false. This video is skewed. Thats for certain, and I speak it plainly and specifically. Your just talking, and making blanket statements. There's no reason not to take a claim from the Bible as an account of history. My first sentence was "its also verified outside of the bible". I type Bible and it seems like you were blinded to even read what I actually was saying.
Matt24ishere 1 month ago
@Matt24ishere the idea that the canaanites were ruthless and evil may well be verified outside the bible. doesn't mean everything in the bible is true. it, like any other text, must be taken claim by claim, and there's a lot in the bible which there is zero evidence for and much against. the flood, for instance, is a classic example.
my impression is you only say it's skewed because it doesn't agree with your beliefs.
doaftheloaf 1 month ago
@doaftheloaf No its skewed, because of what you just agreed to... If it is verified outside of the Bible that they are ruthless, barbarians, that sacrifice their children, then this video should mention that when portraying they Hebrew as a people that just hate the canninites for no reason and want to kill them. I mentioned one claim from the Bible, just as you said I should, and I only mention it and the Bible, in reference to this video because thats what the video is talking about.
Matt24ishere 1 month ago
@doaftheloaf The Bible is the most value resource for anyone to draw from on particularly the subject of this video. Listen to the first sentence this video narrator says...then look at my first statement, and i think it will make this conversation null and void.
If you want to get in to other "claims" one at a time thats fine, but i can see by this conversation it is likely not to be fruitful.
There is more historical and geological evidence for a great flood than nearly any other event.
Matt24ishere 1 month ago
@Matt24ishere There was a king in the bible (I forget his name) and no other historical records ever mentioned that kings name, so for a long time people said the bible is not true because that king never existed or there would be records of him somewhere. Then in the early 70's a dig unearthed over a thousand tablets with that kings name all over them. Those who discredited the bible because that king didn't exist outside the bible look for other reasons to discredit it now.

I still remember when they used to say the Bible is wrong because it puts Jerico in the wrong place and there is no archeology of it so it probably doesn't exist. Then oddly they found it where the bible said it was. What makes people so determined to prove the bible inaccurate despite the evidence?
Mayburyj 4 months ago
@Mayburyj I'd say most people aren't "determined to prove [it] inaccurate" at all. True Science/archeology/history is mostly unbiased. The facts are that much of what the bible says is conflicting, not provable, or wrong. Investigation into the bible causes validation, invalidation, and indeterminacy — it's not just about about 1 thing, or 1 side.

so, according to history, the Israelites acquired Caanan though conquest. There were people there before them.

Perhaps the younger generations are more interested in facts than fairy tales.

whereas, the dove was could not find a resting place and was brought back into the ark and resent 7 days later where it returned with an olive branch, then it was return into the ark to await another 7 day period where it was sent out again and did not return. thereby indicating the waters had receded enough for the dove to find a resting place perhaps on trees not quite dry land everywhere.

MissSapphyre 10 months ago
IE: in the earlier clip it touches on the skepticism whether Moses wrote all five books of the Torah, and suggests that there were four possible scribes one principal reason being that the Noah first sent out the Raven in one account and then another account says he sent out the dove thus, in their opinion this showed two scribes with both accounts interwoven into one chapter *sighs again*
MissSapphyre 10 months ago
@MissSapphyre This is the way you interpreted the bibles words, though many SCHOLARS (who might I add, have years in linguistic training and can definitely understand the original archaic texts far better than you) have read the scriptures otherwise. There is an abundance of evidence that suggests Moses did not write the five books...please do not ignore those in your arguments.

this is a very prejudice presentation from a purely secular perspective.

@MrHarryChristmas Sure thing.. first this vid is claiming ie:William Dever that the bible is NOT true and that all 31 sites that the bible says Joshua conquered, probably did not (calling scriptures, Lies)..

The Merneptah Stele records an Egyptian campaign into Canaan. It mentions destroying a few coastal cities, and then refers to the destruction of the people of "Israel" who inhabit the highlands. Hazor is in the highlands of Canaan. Merneptah could have lumped Hazor into "Israel" and that's why it wasn't mentioned.

MrJefferson1969 1 year ago 2
Thank goodness there are some of us who want to better understand our world rather than merely reaffirm our own assumptions. One will always draw the ire of biblicists when one shows the temerity to suggest a remote possibility that their dogma is based upon dubious foundations.
tittlemouse1969 1 year ago 18
@tittlemouse1969 I'm not sure dubious is the right word for the ancient Jews. My own view is that as more time passes the evidence of any ancient history becomes muddled and hard to interpret. Only in recent times are there such dedicated archeologists with the right tools and technology that many ancient notions really are in question. I think this is really a matter of a better theory coming along than some dubious plot.

I disagree that they are trying to disprove anything.
cheburashka1326 1 year ago 19

Cootabux 1 year ago

These guys are anti_GOD and it is SO Obvious !!
jfitguru 10 months ago
@jfitguru Indeed. The Jews still have preserved the complete Torah in the handwriting of Moses, and many other copies which NEVER change, they do not allow any changes at all, the same goes with the Quran. I believe in "the source" and "the isness" and God, but not in any human Dogma. One Love
truthseeker010101 10 months ago
@evanom2 You are asking a documentary to convey information that is neither verified nor verifiable (with the data we have and will possibly ever have). The reason it goes into analyses and concepts with the non-biblical statements, is quite simply because there IS archaeological and historical evidence to enforce the viewpoint. To say it is anti-biblical is not true, it simply avoids unproven claims.
MrHarryChristmas 7 months ago

@drche420 YECs, you're only fooling yourself.

USAFreedomReform 1 year ago 2
@USAFreedomReform "when you hear historical records of mens writing, you don't believe?" What nonsense. When we read several historical accounts of something that agree with each other and all contradict the bible, you still believe the bible's version
"Is there not any true history of science you believe in before Charles Darwin?" Loads of it, so what? Before Darwin, evolution was observed. The fact that we are apes was discovered by a christian creationist around 200 yrs earlier.

Prove god exists, or stfu.
drche420 1 year ago
@drche420 Wonder why the pictures of gods look like people?
The reason is that man doesn't really know what GOD looks like.As far as I know,no one has ever seen GOD and lived to tell about it.His glory is so bright and full of Holiness that just to get a small glimpse(as Moses did)is all that is recorded in history.Even during the transfiguration,GOD appeared in a cloud and could not be seen, only heard by Peter,James &John.Even then they fell on their faces in fear.Jesus told them not to fear.

Moron. Research all the other gods before yours that supposedly
1)Died and rose again on the third day
2) had 12 disciples
3) born of a virgin
4)on december 25
5) performed miracles
You don't even worship an original god. Your god is a copy of a copy and thats expected because mankind invented the original!
drche420 1 year ago
@drche420 U SAID:Research all the other gods
USAFreedomReform 1 year ago
@drche420 Why no commandment to end slavery in the bible?
It depends on your definition of slavery. If you refer to be beaten for not working hard enough and treated worse than an animal, there were laws against such treatment. If you really take a close look at slavery, are we not slaves working for the rich even today. They do not house, cloth,or feed us,but through the limited pay they give us in lieu of housing, clothing, and food are we not slaves to the rich and those with power over us?
USAFreedomReform 1 year ago

I SAID:I know how you *think* slavery is endorsed in the bible, but its not.Because of the hardness of *MANS* heart, allowances were made in case someone did find themselves in slavery or as a worker of slaves.Outside the allowance your employer gives you,you are a slave even today. The paycheck is just an extension of provided housing, food,&clothing, etc.Think about it,we are constantly in service to someone even if you own a business.

Would YOU?

USAFreedomReform 1 year ago
@USAFreedomReform
The answer is, it depends on which god. If there is a god that is like Einstein's version of god and there was evidence to prove it, then I would consider it. The difference is that if YOUR god was proven to exist, I would believe in it but I wouldn't worship it. How could I worship such a cruel, immoral being?
drche420 1 year ago
@drche420 (cont) The big "G" GOD is the ultimate authority over all creation. The only difference now is that with the GREAT I AM /JESUS CHRIST,we live under "GRACE" and what do the other gods you refer to have the people live under?I am very well aware that other gods existed before the first writings of Moses in the book of real beginings,Genesis. Its really all about what you want to believe or not believe. You have to decide if it is truth or deception. No doubt, the gods you refer to are fake.
USAFreedomReform 1 year ago
@drche420 I can prove GOD exists daily by just being good to those unbelievers around me.IF I see a need of a fellow human being, the GOD part in me will try and meet that need.If a person comes and only needs a cool drink of water, and I deny him,do you think that would be Godly of me not to offer him a drink of water?NO !! What if he was hungry, and I gave him food, would he not see that GOD was real thru that ACT?
If I myself have "NEED" of something,GOD provides.WHY,because he said he would.
USAFreedomReform 1 year ago
@USAFreedomReform That is not some god part in you, that is you. Your philantrophical urges have nothing with religion to do. Hindus can be good and kind, Muslims can be good and kind, Christians can be good and kind, Atheists can be good and kind and so on... Equally people can be evil, greedy and so on. Religion does not decided that.
warmsteel 10 months ago
@warmsteel Now how would you know since you pile christianity in with all the so called religions of the world. Christ Jesus said that the only true religion is this: "To care for the widows and orphans and to keep ones self unspotted from the world".

Sorry.

@dweeper1020 @BloodStainedBane @IrishHermes Carbon dating is very accurate, no reasonable person can deny that.
KayBeeEee1983 1 year ago
@BloodStainedBane One way deniers fool themselves: "carbon dating has a large percent error and scientists admit it. They just keep it quiet " They do not keep it quiet!
