I do not understand how people can be so closed ears and centrarce in stupid arguments. I do not see anything in this band like Joy Division and much less than The Killers, are completely off. It's the same when compared to Joy Division whit Editors, an this with Interpol, in fact I love Interpol but I've got some of nuisance because of these comparisons, love interpol and more Editors. I can understand that, open your ears and just enjoythe music, the real music.
White Lies just do everything so effortlessly: their tunes are magnificent, and they never seem forced or contrived, their live performances are impeccable, and their lyric writing has got to be better than any new band out there that comes to my mind right now. They are superb, and completely underrated.

The most significant difference between Joy Division and White Lies is that the lead singer does not suck like Ian Curtis' voice did. The music of Joy Division was good, but damn...I just could not stand his voice.

Who actually gives a fuck about a band doing it for money or not. Hot Fuss is one of the best indie albums of all time. Therefore surely if your good at your job you derserve more money, i dont see why everyone always goes on about 'ohh they're not init for the music', if there not but are making good tracks what difference does it make.

you can see the comparison to joy division in the way the song is sang. but jd never had this kind of production....it's more similar to new order late 80's/early 90's. absolutely f&*king amazing song!

@chloedabell you can't really compare the two, they're completely different. the only similarity i can find is that their both brilliant bands which don't get enough credit for how good they are (i know arctic monkeys debut did, but their last two album's have been worlds better)

@musewaldemart Yeah. Same here. Did think that they would be okay, but the really blew me away. Great energy and they really enjoyed being on stage. Bet they got quite a few new fans there! :D

Everyone compares indie rock bands with deep voices to Joy division & synthpop bands with deep voices to depeche mode. they set the standard for many bands for new styles of music. i hate people that say they sound like this or that. who cares. its still great music. they are fans of those bands anyway & can relate to them. let them put out music influenced by them. do we not love music like joy division & dm? these new bands are putting out the music we loved that stopped during the early 90's

I know its pretty obvious but even before even hearing these records I could see they were like a new almost punky, hugely joy division influenced band/

@faketales1 Yeah, i will agree that Hot Fuss was a great album but after that i wasnt really interested, but nevertheless; White Lies are great. ^^

@faketales1 I've heard from a few people/ sources that they were put together by a record label to be a manufactured band, I would be fine with it if their image was better, but the thing they have made then into just looks bad. The lead singer wearing a coat of feathers doesnt exactly strike a chord with me. but just my opinion.

Who actually gives a fuck about a band doing it for money or not. Hot Fuss is one of the best indie albums of all time. Therefore surely if your good at your job you derserve more money, i dont see why everyone always goes on about 'ohh they're not init for the music', if there not but are making good tracks what difference does it make.

@andreacancer4 lol, the Killers are an artificially made band, thus are doing it simply for money. Thats the main reason why i dont like them. Though i do agree that their singing style is similar and that the 'indie rock' singing style is often depicted in this way...

you can see the comparison to joy division in the way the song is sang. but jd never had this kind of production....it's more similar to new order late 80's/early 90's. absolutely f&*king amazing song!

Why is so much attention dished out on bands like the Arctic Flunkies when there are better bands like the White Lies making music?

@onepinkrose easy it´s because people don t want too much of a choise they like it simple and that´s what arctic monkeys and else do...i like both bands but i think White lies got a much better sound to listen to

@chloedabell you can't really compare the two, they're completely different. the only similarity i can find is that their both brilliant bands which don't get enough credit for how good they are (i know arctic monkeys debut did, but their last two album's have been worlds better)

of course it sounds like joy division. in fact it s the only band right now that id compare them to. its just because they use bass a rythm guitar, have sad lyrics and use early synths..
