i think it was done by gettn a coppy of penns autograph and putn it on say 5 different cards in 5 diff decks and forcing penn to take one of the falsely signed cards, just a guess
I love magic, but I hate watching it on TV because producers cut scenes and moves; which (at least for me) destroy the beauty of the trick. That being said - awesome job.
@koolanator Magic is often edited incorrectly, but I feel they did a fine job on my spot on this show. The major edits were after, when I gave P&T the box to keep and examine. I did some corny jokes to ask to keep the signed card as a souvenir and they edited that out. Near the beginning of the routine I also commented on how tall Penn was and they edited his and my comments. I said something to the effect that he was huge, and he replied that he could eat off my head. Glad to liked it.

@Truthfulnerd ok. i figured the dec turnign into a new deck part. but the signd card into the deck, or the primium cards + the two jokers out of it i still dont know. all u have to look is when he takes out the pen with the deck.
Finally solved: Start by going to google and searching for "pygmy marmoset monkey", these really tiny monkeys can be trained with certain tasks and can fit into a suit jacket pocket hence he wears the jacket. The monkey is trained where to place the card and also knows how to repackage a deck of cards. At the end when Shawn his excited that he fooled them you notice he pulls out card of front jacket pocket, this simply is a way to saying thanks to the monkey on the inside. Clever indeed
i think i know how it is done.. can i pm you my thinking and then you can say if it right or not... i wanna perform this to my friends and stuff and also it means im better than penn and teller ;)

@MavisRileyJunior That's very true. I always said when I won the World Championship I would release it to the magic fraternity but when the Penn & Teller opportunity came up I postponed the release. Another person took my effects name as their own so I had to re-shoot the entire video and the most important factor... I am a performer first and foremost. I don't make my living selling my ideas...so I work on projects like this in my spare time... sorry, but it's on it way... soon.

The trick is amazing, but that's not even the best bit of this. You, the performer, are fucking amazing. You could present anything and it would be awesome. I just watched this 5 times in a row, not to work it out, just to enjoy the entertainment factor. You are just an incredible magician with terrific charisma and showmanship. This is godly. Shawn, i've been a professional for two years now (i'm only very young) but still I have to admit that this was one of the most impressive tricks that I have ever seen performed, I have tried to come up with tricks like this in the past (generally with very little progress) but have a similar effect but the signing of the card has truly stunned me!!! Congratz on Fooling P+T, it was well deserved!

Wow! I just noticed another brilliant sleight of hand. When he goes to his pocket to get the premium cards and the jokers, he switches the new deck for the old one, which he gives for P&T to inspect. He manages to misdirect Penn, now that's really sensational!
This is maybe the most original trick on the show because he says what he does by asking Penn the final question just before saying "I just did" but simply letting them to figure out how and when he does it.
When he pulls out the pen, he also switches the cards for a deck of cards. but he gets them in the order, i dont know. I am pretty sure that penn is on the trick.
@Yasinman I really doubt that. Penn I think wouldn't allow it, wanting the show to be honestly what it's claimed to be rather than a lie favoring one magician over another through his participation in deceit.

Great work! had to watch several different performances to even get an idea of how it was done! Also, how did you find out about this show being recorded? Lets say a hypothetical young magician had an original trick never seen before, how would he get to perform it there (if there was a hypothetical (like that word) second season)?
so at 4:50, he doesnt put the signed card into the deck cuz the deck is really a new one..then when he pulls the "joker" out as he said its really 2 cards, the joker and penns card. the trick is..the card penn signed is really a miniature scanner..writing on it just scanns and prints it out on the miniture printer card inside the deck thats already been turned around from factory. simple.
@fasttrackme 1 problem with that, he could have chosen any card, not the 7 of diamonds. And that was the exact card that needed to be turned around in the deck. Not to mention the technology doesn't exist to make a playing card into a wireless scanner.

He dealt Penn (the patsy) the 7 of diamonds which was the only card Penn could 'chose' for this to work. The brand new pack was already made with the card around the wrong way sealed...what world class magician doesn't know someone who produces playing cards. All he had to do then is switch packs...waaaalaa the signature - quick google search shows you what his signature looks like...Sorry Shawn!!
@Youaresofullofshite so he just hopes Penn doesn't do just a scribble instead of his signature. And if that's the case he wouldn't need to know someone who makes cards. You can use a Stanley/hobby knife and you can cut along the seams of the plastic on one side.and just use glue to seal it back up.
@Youaresofullofshite you can cut along the glue line where the plastic is folded over on the bottom and reglue it and it will look untouched. I think RealHustle or BrianBrushwood showed that technique in a show. same with the box.. cuz the buttom of it to get the cards out.. He never showed the bottom of the box out of the plastic..he only showed the sticker on the top that wasnt touched.

@ShawnFarquhar No that's fair enough in my opinion it's one of the top magic tricks of all time. Can I expect it to be below $250 dollars? That way I could get it for a joint birthday and christmas present.

Shawn, i've been a professional for two years now (i'm only very young) but still I have to admit that this was one of the most impressive tricks that I have ever seen performed, I have tried to come up with tricks like this in the past (generally with very little progress) but have a similar effect but the signing of the card has truly stunned me!!! Congratz on Fooling P+T, it was well deserved!

Wow! I just noticed another brilliant sleight of hand. When he goes to his pocket to get the premium cards and the jokers, he switches the new deck for the old one, which he gives for P&T to inspect. He manages to misdirect Penn, now that's really sensational!

This is maybe the most original trick on the show because he says what he does by asking Penn the final question just before saying "I just did" but simply letting them to figure out how and when he does it.

When he pulls out the pen, he also switches the cards for a deck of cards. but he gets them in the order, i dont know. I am pretty sure that penn is on the trick.

so at 4:50, he doesnt put the signed card into the deck cuz the deck is really a new one..then when he pulls the "joker" out as he said its really 2 cards, the joker and penns card. the trick is..the card penn signed is really a miniature scanner..writing on it just scanns and prints it out on the miniture printer card inside the deck thats already been turned around from factory. simple.

@fasttrackme 1 problem with that, he could have chosen any card, not the 7 of diamonds. And that was the exact card that needed to be turned around in the deck. Not to mention the technology doesn't exist to make a playing card into a wireless scanner.

He dealt Penn (the patsy) the 7 of diamonds which was the only card Penn could 'chose' for this to work. The brand new pack was already made with the card around the wrong way sealed...what world class magician doesn't know someone who produces playing cards. All he had to do then is switch packs...waaaalaa the signature - quick google search shows you what his signature looks like...Sorry Shawn!!

@Youaresofullofshite so he just hopes Penn doesn't do just a scribble instead of his signature. And if that's the case he wouldn't need to know someone who makes cards. You can use a Stanley/hobby knife and you can cut along the seams of the plastic on one side.and just use glue to seal it back up.

@Youaresofullofshite you can cut along the glue line where the plastic is folded over on the bottom and reglue it and it will look untouched. I think RealHustle or BrianBrushwood showed that technique in a show. same with the box.. cuz the buttom of it to get the cards out.. He never showed the bottom of the box out of the plastic..he only showed the sticker on the top that wasnt touched.
