One thing I love about the true rat rods is that there is a lot of art and creativity, unlike "MY flat black Honda Civic with... (drum roll please) A stainless... steel... loudpipe...
i don't know why people hatin' on the chevy 350 it's a good cheap motor to play with on a budget...granted their are cooler motors out there. but, their parts aren't as easy to get from local retailers when you need something! i'm thinking of building myself another rod & yeah an ol' hemi, flat head or boss would be cool...or even a cadillac motor...but, performance parts are too expensive & hard to find...been there, done that...today, i'm all about the budget build & keeping the hobby alive !
its because there are alot cooler of motors that are easy to get. 235 strait six chevy? or maybe a pontiac 389 or 455? maybe an old 318? or 440? my dad owns a restoration shop and every cool 32 ford or 37 chevy hotrod all have a boring boring boring 350 in it... it just totally ruins it
@geepbee another thing to think about is ,i drive the piss out of my cars doing road trips,if i break down in poedunk on a sunday ,i can get about anything i need for my small block, from the farmers daughter
@thechevyscrounger Amen brother. drive 'em till the wheels fall off ,reattach them and go some more. About 13 yrs ago my elcaminos 396 broke a valvespring near las vegas during hot rods power tour. luckily we got a replacement from the local auto supply.
he bought it from a guy in down south that builds anything you want he paid 9,500 but since sold it he's having another one built now only an international h. truck
The car would be much better with finned aluminum valve covers, nicely done lakes headers, and a low rise intake with 2 or 3 deuce carbs. Great choice in music.
nice truck ,is it a 36? i have to many projects ,not enough hands or money,if i could figure out how to cut out the sleeping and eating part, that would gain me some extra time

@capecodcuda I agree the 350 is boring ,but to a budget minded family man such as myself your point is well spoken.
