I love my Pur filter as well. However, I must say you shouldn't refill those plastic, disposable water bottles (especially those that are made of #1 PET plastic). They can potentially leech BPA and other harmful chemicals.
Your best bet is to buy a Nalgene or a Camelbak or a similar BPA-free bottle.
There is a pur packet that purifies ten liters used for the poor in africa. I didn't know this existed, the packet purifies it chemically, how does this work?
while if ur water is clear, say a lake the main reson u dont want to drink the water is its full of cysts, diseases and bacteria that modern humans are not climatized too. if u take iodine and put a drop of it in the water you can kill all of the unwanted organisms. the packs which you speak of i have no clue about but it shold have somthing like that in them.
first of all, putting things in bottles is half of what makes bottled water bad. chemicals leech out into the water! secondly, sink attachment filters pump out the water too fast to really be effective. what you really need is a bottleless countertop water cooler. Pureez doesn't use bottles and it filters completely. I use it and it's awesome.
they sell Pur products at soap.com and diapers.com new customers receive up to 20% off everything with coupon code MYBABYLOVE .Free shipping on $25+
