  • The Addams Family sent me here. Lurch did, to be exact.

  • sounds like harp.. just saying

  • Nel vortice della luce, un canto di carne e fuoco investe l'anima, e lo spirito si nutre del tuo respiro, Chiara : vortice di luce nella carne del mondo !

  • Intense.

  • What a revelation! The attribution of the work to Bach is uncertain, as we know. But as @Eddissimo & @dolofonos say: Bach may have composed & played it on such a pedaled-harpsichord. Chiara Massini grants us the privilege of hearing the original sound – the world is waiting for the official release of this wonderful performance. All good wishes, Chiara!

  • After the umpteenth hearing of this during the past year I am still convinced that harpsichord as sounded by Chiara Massini is the preferred platform for BWV565 not the organ. @Eddissimo.

  • This sounds very good! A great performance!

  • Hi Chiara : first of all you are a great harpsichordist, passionate and vigorous. I have a question about this particular piece, are you playing on a pedal harpsichord, or is it a transcription ? If so, where could I find the score ? Thanks to you.

  • Im not a musician, yet, but definitely liked this version of bwv565 and what a babe you are Chiara!x

  • when I first saw this-- I thought that I would never get through it listening to a transcription. BUT this interpretation is absolutely CAPTIVATING-EXCITING

  • perfecta

  • Thank you! As much as I love Bach's organ works, the d minor never really seemed to work in the 1001 versions from pipe organ to solo violin to bagpipes. This performance works- it really works. Exciting and clear.

  • Thanks to dolofonos for his historic perspective regarding Bach and his harpsichord.

  • BWV565 was originally written for the organ, but the way Chiara transcribed and played it you would swear that J.S. Bach wrote it especially for Chiara Massini to play on the harpsichord.

  • As you mention it, composition and practice was not practical on the organ during Bach's era and so other pedaled-keyboards were used in alternative. Bach did own a pedaled-harpsichord and it is not unlikely that he played this toccata and fugue on such an instrument and may well have composed it on one as well.

  • @delofonos actually we're not even sure that bach himself composed this piece

  • The harpsicord is one of those instruments that it's hard to go wrong with. God I love that sound.

  • Nice playing. I was hoping you would show all the pages of the handwritten score.

  • awesome, i love harpsichords, they're awesome

  • Excellent performance and transcription!

  • I hadn't heard this in the harpicord before and I a bit negatively predisposed, but this is amazing. Excellent!

  • Bravísima ChiaraUna vez mas me hechizas con tu magia !!!!

Me he emocionado al escucharte en esta fantástica versión.

¿Vendrás algún día a tocar en Argentina? Es un sueño que espero se haga realidad

    Cariños. Juan.

  • A beautiful song beautifully played on a beautiful instrument. Thanks for uploading the video!

  • Fantastic, Chiara! Bravissima, davvero - Lucia

  • Very nice, thank you very much!

  • Happy to listen to you again performing an unusual and still delightful rendition on the harpsichord.

    All the best from indigoblue555.

Will you ever come and perform in my country ?

  • I never enjoyed the traditional organ performances as much as I did this--the fugue section in particular is revelatory...brava!

  • Bravissima. Aspettiamo altri pezzi, sarà un piacere sentirti ancora. Magari indica dove possiamo sentirti dal vivo.

  • ich bin stolz bei solch einer guten chembalistin unterricht zu nehmen!

  • Inspired and illuminating. Rich textures and infinitiely careful phrasing combine to illuminate this piece as I have never before heard it. Genius. The music is luminous. Chiara Massini brings an inner light to the music of Bach. Bravo!

  • Splendida. Non credevo che il cembalo riuscisse a rendere così pienamente le sonorità della toccata. La fuga è perfetta.

    Renato

  • Simply stunning.
