Good luck with him! In this video we used just a plain snaffle. He is a very responsive stallion, so he was great in it. We didn't want to put a spoon bit in, or a shank, because we were jumping and we didn;t want to hurt his mouth. I think he's been jumping lately in pelham because he's been behaving 'studdy' the past few months. He's often ridden in just a bosal too, but I don't think we've jumped him in it
He isa pretty boy! And no, the woman down the road from my grandmother is my Paso FIno trainer (there good friends) and this is one of her two stallions. The other is my show horse, and he just does the Paso thing. This guy is more jumper/western/dressage/everything else! xD I'm starting to shwo him in pleasure for my trainer though
Look here, pops, its not a shame. This horse is very versatile. He LOVES to jump. And his gait is improving. And he's not my horse, he's my trainers. He has such a knack for it she wanted to try him in a show. Shame on you for thinking all Paso's are supposed to be tiny stepped show horses!
Very nice - Calif is on my 'short list' to breed to in the next year or two! Stinks he didn't place because he was gaited - anything in the rules that says he had to be DQ? Or just the judges not understanding the gait?
He doesn't have to be, but they judges are looking for a Hunter. Plus they tend to be very prejudice. (Excuse my spelling!) And if you are interesting in him, (or her other stud, who is just WOW) go to ro-noranch*com.
Gaited horses can compete in jumping, if they trot. Or - if you can get them to canter the whole course without gaiting. I have a TWH and a Paso. I placed 6th in Children's Hunters on my TWH and he "paced" a bit on the course, but maybe the judge missed it.
Yeah, I know. Thats why I was competing. He did alright in the jumping, we got a 5th and a 6th in the two jumping classes, but then during the flat class, we didn't place, because he gaits.
He's a Paso Fino. (the same as the otehr stallion in my other video.) He does a walk, Corto, Largo. The Corto is the smoothest gait in the horse world there is. Its a four beat lateral gait, and largo is the same thing, but extended.
You can, (I did with him today!) But you usually won't place because they are looking for a hunter horse, and he doesn't trot. He's a beast though xD he's a 4 year old stallion, so he's like a little boy xD
i cant belive they didnt place you just because he is gaited ...hope thats going to be changed profeta going to be doing hunters this show season

Its kinda understandable, cuz they were looking for the ideal hunter, and hunters aren't gaited, but it was a little annoying xD
