Judging from the date this was posted, this fire was at 9817 Walnut Hill Rd. It occured on Jan, 12th 2006. A brief search of records shows there were six 5+ alarm fires in 2006, only 2 went to 6th alarm & this was the only one in a 3 sty apartment bldg.
Probably this one then. It was all a defensive attack. I am just the videographer but know a lot of the scanner traffic stuff. I had never seen so much fire. I actually had about 40 mins of footage. Just chopped it up and put it on here.
As a firefighter myself most times we do go inside. Its what, here in Glasgow at least,we are trained to do.Its embarrassing standing out on the street pouring water on the building.
No, a building is NOT worth the lifes of the firefighters. First a firefighter must think of himself before attacking a fire. Property can be replaced, a human life can not.
How you know everyone is out? With the exception of lightning strikes & maybe one or two other natural causes a fire does not start in a building unless someone had been doing something in it recently. Might have been leaving oily rags piled up 2 months or burning dinner 20 minutes ago. How do you know they arent still in there until you look?
It looks like the modular conception in the construction made it difficult to bring water to bear on the fire

We were in a fire danger and the winds were bad so it became a defensive attack only.
