I don't think this movie was that bad. It definitely could've been better. The plot wasn't that bad though, especially considering the time period, the communism vs democracy battle, the Cold War, Rosswell/alien relations, and Mayan-like tribes that somehow had technology advanced for their time.

Anyway, it'd be interesting for the next plot to relate/revolve around Atlantis.

In my opinion: this had easily the best story of the 4 indiana jones films. An idea of aliens visiting the maya culture is as interesting as The holy grails story as well. Directing was bad but overall a GOOD movie.

OK, nothing can beat old good Indiana Jones films of the 80's but this one was great as well. It represents modern Adventure movie with a lot of action scenes. Harrison Ford, my lovely Karen Allen, Shia LaBeouf and John Hurt did wonderfully brilliant job.

The movie had good intentions but seemed very forced. They really tried to squeeze all they could out of a weak storyline, that by all accounts, Speilberg was not comfortable with (aliens) but Lucas really pushed. It was another example of Lucas coming up with corny ideas and trying to fit them into existing stories without taking into account that its not the 80s anymore; the audience that grew up with Indy are not kids. It had such potential but was wasted effort unfortunately.

Actually if you wanna know, I think it all came down to suits getting cold feet. The reason that Lucas projects get edited is because he thinks outside the box. His are movies they basically make into Mormon home videos or existing movies edited to suit certain interests over mostly everyone else's. He wants to have aliens, they want to call the russians our aliens or we the aliens to germans. Its semantics. we're white in between the red and blue. The crystal skull should be inside we & Indy.

i was disappointed too. it doesnt compare to the other ones. this one is too shallow. there is no time dedicated to some depth of the characters and their relation. i thought the first minutes were cool, also the setting and what happens to indy in his own country he doesnt recognize. but the plot of the adventure is really bad, also there is no really cool ellaborate and thrilling action sequence like in the first three.
