The only thing God ever wanted from us is to love one another, help those in need, forgive those who wronged us, not to judge others and so on. This is the true gospel of Jesus. So they ask why then did Jesus died on the cross...the answer to that is, He did not just died for our sins, He also told us what to do to earn eternal life. God is looking for the meek hearted.
But us humans turned this very simple concept into a judgmental religious circus.
@ditisek44 Those things you mentioned are the results of faith in Jesus , not the gospel. The gospel is to believe that jesus is the Messiah, that He died and rose again for our sins. That is the good news, the gospel.

@terryruiz1 God will not deal harshly with someone who never heard the gospel. They will be judged by the Law that God has put into every persons heart. So how they lived by that law will determine where they spend eternity. But we shouldn't worry about those who never heard, we worry about those who reject the gospel, because Jesus Himself said that they will go to everlasting destruction. Meaning you will be lost from the presense of God for all eternity.

The true message of the Gospel is that God loves us and wants us to be born again as his children where we no longer have a biological father but a spiritual father whom only we call "father" and our mother, brothers and sisters are those who are born again also.
