  • You dont need to air down at all its not a hard trail its just dangerous.

  • This video would get a LOT more interesting if he showed the next 3 miles of the road...

  • You would have a hard time here in a full sized pickup. The video doesn't show it, but the switchbacks farther down are TIGHT, you need a spotter to get out and guide you around. A jeep is almost too long, you need four or five jogs in a jeep to make it around some of them. This road is also ONE WAY, don't try and turn around. I made this trip years ago in a mazda truck, about the longest thing you want to drive here.

  • go to the hammers ya girls then tell me what a trial it sunbonnit would be a good start for ya

  • can u do this with a stock jeep

  • @unwrappedbox obviously, if a bunch of Texans did it...

  • Thats narrow, but you could take a full size pickup on all the parts I saw in the video, just take it slow and watch what you are doing.

  • I guess its not so much of a tough trail, but more so that you have to really be careful with the narrowness.

  • the reason people die is because they r in shit jeeps like that and think it can handle it

  • gtfo out of our state fucking texan

  • THAT WAS GAY

    STUPID NOT EVEN TOUGH

  • That road is at an angle at 4:55 in the video. Well, you don't have to be crazy to drive this road, but it helps.

  • hicks

  • 45 degree my ass

  • Jokes aside. I give these guys credit for having the balls to drive this trail.

  • "Know whut I mean? Vern?

  • I would not have stood in front while filming...any number of bad things could happen.

  • Perfect example on how the TJ ruined the trails!

  • Dang Texans!!!

But hey, y'all throw money into our state, so I'm not complaining for serious I suppose. =P

  • This is also why the rental companies say not to do black bear...

  • this is why we people from colorado hate texans

  • @okjustleave

    haha, made my day

  • @okjustleave It's not just Coloradans that hate Texans, pretty much everyone does.

  • @gt5junkie Come on now, we are not all like these guys.

  • Its scarier in real life

  • I would not be able to handle a trip like this - i would lose my mind in fear. Ha ha! No way!

  • I did this in 73 in a 56 willys. Saw a flat fender that had come up, with carb problems. They were dropping fuel into the carb from coke bottle...

  • i could do that in a subaru wrx

  • @StanleyJSdz : Uh, no, you could not. But if you gave it a shot, I'd like to watch.

  • Did this August 16th. FUN RIDE! 12 miles took us almost 3 hours (that includes time stopping for pictures, etc.). We dropped our tire pressure from 35 down to 15. Its not so much hard; its more you just can't be an idiot when you do it.

  • couple of yahoo's from texas :D

  • Did that in 1986 in a full size 1971 jeep wagoneer made me pucker a few times

  • top gear(uk) should do this challenge im sure james may would enjoy some locally brewed beer in t-ride

  • 3:09 "you dont want to do this at home." Ha ha!

  • You are in a RENTAL!

  • I could do that in reverse, experts only my ass

  • hmmm.. dont sound like this in Colorado!? thinking Southern people that did this... ? lmao

  • you guys are full of it. I went offroading for the first time a few weeks ago, I was nothing more than a rookie and it wasnt that hard.

  • Will be there in 7 days !!!

    Man! I can't wait !!

    Thanks for the video.

  • 1000ft straight down i dont like that

  • We have done this trail too and it IS the scariest 4x4 trail i have ever seen. unless you are insane... don't do it. there is no turn around.

  • I bet I could throw a footbal straight over that pass.

  • @yerwrng What are you....Tim Tebow from Broncos

  • For experts only? Then why do you have a novice driver in the rig? Come on man use your brain.

  • i think its hilarious that "its a jeep thing" ..wow they do make wheelin vehicles other than jeeps...!! might be the "hardest jeep trail" but get a "rig" and try again.. nervous laughter...funny. grow a pair guys

  • It's been awhile since I was out there, but we went in early June and the switchbacks were closed, so we could only go from hwy 550 to basically where you're sitting at 5:38, and no farther. We actually followed the guy in a the bulldozer plowing the pass, so we were the first ones up to that point that year. someday I'll get back out there when the switchbacks are open and do the rest!

  • "you don't wanna do this at home"

um.... WANNA BET? i do this

  • HAHAHAHA You guys are maniacs.

  • Stay in Texas!

  • Damn texans. you make me laugh.

  • These two must have a pretty impressive rapport with God, because there was nothing intelligent about the way they approached this pass. And funny as it may be, it could have ended with a tragic fall or several rescuers risking their life to save them. The Sok is right - this encourages too many idiots to bomb the trail.

As a side note, when he said that he was on a 45 degree downgrade... not so much. With all of that loose rock, he would have slid down the mountain. More like 22-25 degrees.

  • @indecisive27 Not even 10 degrees.

  • Next time, lower your tire pressure more, about 10 lbs. is good

  • @theninja001

I agree, but I think 10 is a bit low unless you have bead lockers, 15 is a better pressure so you don't have to worry about unbeading the tire

  • @tommy35ss Yeah, you're right, I run 10 because I have 12.5 inch wide tires on 8 inch wide rims, so there is good pressure against the bead, most people should run 15.

  • @theninja001 I meant to say wide tires and/or bead lockers, I didn't think about that. I have 31X10.5 inch tires with 15X8 inch wheels, what would you recommend? I've had no problems so far running about 15. Should I just test in my driveway and find out holds against the bead still while being low pressure?

Well we both agree on the pressure, if he lowered the pressure he wouldn't be sliding like that lol. Someday I'm going to take my Jeep or possibly future Jeep to Telluride

  • @tommy35ss I ran 10 lbs on the Rubicon trail, and I was really scraping my sidewalls against boulders, and I never lost any air! But, the heavier the truck, the more pressure you should run, i have a Toyota pickup, and it is pretty light.

  • hm, rough road, I'll admit. We did it in a 2WD Toyota. Norwegian roads are known for being a bit rougher than these trails.

  • @tmaarud Y'all did Telluride in a 2WD Toyota?

  • @tommy35ss Yep, stupid I admit, but we managed. As I said, we're kinda used to really rough driving conditions in Norway due to the fjords and the mountains. But that doesn't mean i don't like this video, and admire the adventurers behind the cam an wheel.

  • Are you in 4lo with swaybars disconnected?

  • Hey "the sok" looks like they made it. I'll drive it next time I'm in the area.

  • You two are having to much fun, Sweet XD

  • This is why we locals worry. A rented rig that's probably not supposed to be driven on Black Bear, combined with inattention & goofing off. Darwin will take over in about another 1/4 mile. Next time vacation in Padre Island, will ya? Jeezus....

  • @TheSok66 What are you worried about? If he dies it's his problem. I'm sure he spent money there that your town gained tax money from. You should be grateful . And now with 11,000 views you'll have even more tourists spending money. I'll be there next year. I'll be sure to video tape it.

  • I dont have this at home and look at what road?

  • Go home sodbusters!

  • looks like fun

  • Just did Black Bear last month for the 1st time. Awesome experience. Ready to do it again.

  • Did PastorJoeMartin call Jimmy Dean about their packaging? I'm pretty certain I heard the audio of it.

  • I loved this!! the commentary was great!! I have been down black bear more than once but over 10 years ago, never driven it

  • been down Black Bear about half a dozen times. I remember the first time I did it. 1986 and it was a definite pucker zone. LOL. By far the best trail in Colorado.

  • You guys are silly. SILLY!

  • haha that's awesome! I've done Black Bear many times but never that fast! Glad you guys didn't go over the edge lol

  • I am continually amazed at folks like this that come from the "flat texas ground" and rent a jeep to say they have been 4wheelin' (little twang there)!

Although very funny, I didnt knwo if i was laughing because it was humorous or because it involved so much "draw" and "texas" in it, that it seemed like two guys that just ran away from home and were gitty over gettin' to go 4wheelin'?

  • You guys rock!

  • this is funny as hell. . we are in colorado springs. .must try that trail someday.!! it looks great..

  • That was hilarious, I've never cracked up and had sweaty palms at the same time. I was nervous on Imogene. This is one of the best B. Bear vid's I've seen. Thanks for the commentary in laughter.

  • "Do you understand what slow means?????" lol!!!! "This is where the black bear really starts speakin' to ya". My face, sides and shoulders hurt from laughing so hard! AAAAHHHHH This is why you remain the undisputed, best of the best, most amazingly AWESOME pastor of all time! I think I'm going to add "black bear, baby" into my everyday vernacular.
