Everybody and everything enjoys being confined in small spaces. If someone put you in a glass case with a carefully engineered "habitat," would you feel like you were outside? Would it be the same to you? Give me a break.

@ladygish I also want to add that jail is meant for punishment and these zoo keepers try to make the animal's habitat as comfortable as possible. You're also making it seem like they've taken every animal in existance and put them in the zoo. The purpose of the zoo is to teach people about the wild and appreciate it, allowing them to understand that it should be preserved.

@codept121 Good point there, chief. No way an animal would like to have open spaces to live in. No, they would much prefer being in a glass case where people can gawk at them all day. Kids banging on the glass, people taking your babies away...Nope. Nothing more appealing than that!

You don't seem to know this, but ALL wild animals live in the wild and hunt for food. It doesn't bother them. That's why they are called "wild" animals.

That doesn't sound like a tedious existence at all- pacing a small area and eating. Hunting food you like? Heck no! Just take some already dead fish, no choice of type. But at LEAST you got it.

"Global warming" is B.S. The actual data currently shows a cooling trend. Even when the earth was warming (by a tenth of a degree) ove rthe last decade, it was not CAUSED by human activity. The science does not back up these claimte change myths.

It's extra since it is not being absorbed and stays in the upper atmosphere.. everybody accepts that.. except anti-global warming crackpots.

@1972m IPCC, NASA and others all got the same data.. world mean surface temps went up at least 1.4 degrees in the 20th century from fossil fuels and deforestation and that's accelerating. It would be an even worse scenario without human pollution blocking the radiation. C02 stays in the upper atmosphere 100 years..it also causes release of methane-a worse greenhouse gas. that's why middle latitudes are getting the wild weather patterns and arctic ice/glaciers all over the world are melting.

@PanzerBlitz43 Yeah, that's kind of what I thought: you are listening exclusively to organizations whose research is funded through the federal government, which is in lockstep with that con artist Al Gore. Try comparing IPCC reports (which have never actually concluded man is causing global warming) to researchers outside the UN - it might open your eyes. Start with Abdussamatov, then check out Latif. True scientists don't cherry-pick data.

@ladygish In this case, the exhibit cannot be made cold enough for the chick. They have a thick layer of down and if they are not moved to a colder environment they will overheat. Thank you for your interest.

@pyromaniac097 The chicks are born with a thick down and cannot regulate their body temperatures. If it is not cold enough they will overheat and die. We cannot make the entire exhibit cold enough, so we have to move them to a colder environment for a short period of time until they lose the down that keeps them warm. Once this happens they are fine in warmer environments.
