  • gotta' admit the rutles, to their credit, hold their own against the original....same key, but how come the beat is so exact in the mix....did the rutles play along to the original beatles' soundtrack? very interesting......

  • i think the rutles need to sue the beatles - call leggy in ,...this is plaguerisnm

  • it was called let it rot, not let it rut

  • The Rutles called the police

  • okaaaay...who are these guys, or is this a parody of the song...

  • Well done - I may use this on my Radio Show

  • @beatlesandbeyond

Glad you like it...go ahead and use it!

  • The part where you reversed the end of A Day in the Life sounds like "I will not eat any Supermen"

  • I heard the Beatles hoped they would be arrested and felt it would be a good ending to the movie, but the bobbies didn't oblige.

The Rutles changed it so in effect it was.

  • Good job mixing the songs!

Actually, Eric Idle says on the dvd comentary that once George and Ringo sang "Ouch!" to him and Neil Innes, and Eric said they should form a band and call themselves "The Brutles".

  • It might just be my eyesight, but isn't the guy on the roof at 2:05 none other than legendary Rutles manager Leggy Mountbatten? There's a whole new conspiracy theory waiting to happen...

  • Nice, a John/Ollie guitar duel.

  • the beginning was tight, when john booted that dude out the way lol

  • Anyone can post either video... this is a great way to see how precise the parody was... a true tongue in cheek tribute

  • "Get Up And Go" sounds a lot better then "Get Back."

  • I'd love to hear a live band perform this mash-up.

  • this is OMG really great man great edit cool......clapping clapping..Love it

  • Everyone I know in my "1 horse hometown of Grafton, Ma." wants the old Rutles "Get Up and Go" Video so we can see the late 1970's chicks with the 1st straight legs jeans and stuff dancing around etc., after the dreadful "Bell Bottom pants Generation that thankfully died in 1977 but, unfortunately, made a comeback in 1994 that still, after 16 dreadful years, we still can't seem to bring to an end. Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Ma.

  • Y'know it's amazing...you think you see all the Rutles material, and something like THIS shows up. Oh, their legend truly WILL last a lunchtime!

  • is this George Harrison singing with Neil Innes?

  • @Zeichenkurs I dont thnik so but it would not surprise me at all.... he is in other parts of the film :-)

  • the Beatles were not arrested. Ringo said he hoped they would be because it would have made a great enging to the film.

  • This is a fake LOL jk! i love both the beatles and the rutles ;)

  • awesome

  • Nicely done!

  • i lolled when in the beginning John kicked the guy infront of him. so much for peace and love lol :P

  • @powerpats That's Ron Nasty. Who's John?

(Just keeping with the Rutles Universe)

  • Just as perfect as the original one :D

    Eric Idle Forever !

  • at the end, seriously, i was scared of that paul is dead shit and your bringing it back to me

  • Damn i wish i'd thought of this. great stuff.

  • Actually, if I could make an improvement, it would be to have both band footage shown, so it shows the comparison of how the police handled the situation. With The Beatles, they were given courtesy before they were arrested, whereas the Rutles were just plain arrested..

Either that, or 'Get Up And Go' was so bad, the police ignored The Beatles completly.

  • Ha ha, like it!

  • @raccoonfan The Beatles song is called Get Back and The Rutles song is Get Up And Go. The Beatles were never arrested, just made to stop playing although Ringo wanted to be pulled off his drums by the police as he thought it would make a good ending to the film.

  • @raccoonfan It's just fuckin' terrible full bastard stop...Waste of my very valuable time...Who created this crap

  • @raccoonfan I don't think anybody was arrested. The police just came, wagged their fingers at the group and turned their amps off. LOL

Paul was pissed. Would have made a better ending with batons swinging.

  • earcandyfilms, you deserve a medal for this.

  • thank you, thank you very much.

  • I just get too distracted by George's bright green pants in this video. XD

  • At 0:19-0:21 you can see Ron Wood of the Stones sitting on the wall - he was in a short scene in the Rutles movie, telling George Harrison that Big Valerie beat up Stig!

  • @graytart Check out 00:12 when Stig "knees" that stagehand in the rear end. Funny stuff.

  • Shouldn't this video include the raven haired copper eyed girl with the red sweater and her friends-happy, snobby and cutey with the Victoria Stillwell of dog show fame dancing in the backround with straight leg pants and outfits which I love. I never liked the bell bottom come back of 1994-2008...Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Mass.

  • I like this one better than the original :p

  • Comment removed

  • This is a good atempt bring 2 great groups together in there finest hour, the swansong. It actually sound they're only a few blocks from each other.

  • Anyone know why you can't find Get up and Go on youtube anymore?

  • WMG

  • @simonnaylor Corporate greed.

  • The video won't work past 2:11 for me...

Great job, though, Get Back is one of my favorite Beatles songs lately and this mash-up is well done.

  • Hmmm, don't know what to tell you, I just checked it and it played all the way through for me...

  • the footage! ah.. no cell phones... back then, you were left to your own idiotic surprised face and no one to bug on the cell phone (all you could do was look around you for the nearest faces on the sidewalk) ;)

  • Can't wait until they release "The Rutles: Rut Band"!. Get up and Go would be awesome to play!

And great video! Must've been embarassing for both bands to see their doppelganger playing across the road from each other...then they decide to have a rock battle between them both.

  • The singing vocals for Eric's role were dubbed in.

  • That really slays me when Innes kicks that guy off the roof.

  • I love how in Can't Buy Me Lunch, it's said that "Let It Rot was so bad, the Rutles were arrested."

  • There are a few tiny bits where you can hear the difference between each song, but this is a good parody!

  • we will fuck you like a superman! ;)

  • It does sound like that xD

  • The Rutles would be a broadway hit of astronomical proportion if hey decided to do it.

  • This is very true. Look at spamalot. This would be bigger and better and funnier.

  • @plattix

Eric Idle won't let Neil Innes do Rutles reunions as Eric claims he created & owns the Rutles.

They had a big fight over the reunion project some years ago and still don't talk to each other.

  • its been done by the fab four, rutlemania, search it on youtube

  • NICE editing!!! Love these two songs, and together they don't miss a beat. Try singing the words to Get Up and Go to a Get Back Karaoke version. IT WORKS!!!

  • I loved this! Also "Get Up And Go" sounds better than "Get Back" haha

  • It's amazing how the tempo and tone are identical. I actually prefer get up and go!

  • What a coincidence!!

  • well, you know what I mean. What I'm trying to say is that it's completely spot on - not a semitone out or a bpm faster.

  • :-) With the term coincidence i ment the fact, that both groups performed at same place with really similar songs.:-)

  • mmm. Well, I think that was the idea really. The spoof thing works best like that. Usually.

  • I love the mash-up here. great video...

  • Thnx man. Even if the whole video would be sh*t, the info, which is describing it is excellent. The idea ....:-) And of course the video is really really good peace of work. I have only one remark.. Would be nice to add there some kind of mixed sound at the second roof from the first band.. But this would be really difficult...

  • Cool xx

  • this was a great Beatle parody movie, i still have the soundtrack

  • The Rutles stole the Beatles' idea! Or was it the other way around? Still funny though!

  • What? I started my version of this before you... but.... wow.... yours is better anyway. =) I like the way you included the bit of We've Arrived!

  • Wow...you have a version of this, too? Cool, can't wait to see it! Ahh, yes...someone caught the "We've Arrived" bit

  • Yep, i stuck it in an almost same place see, I'm mixing together the GLOVE album =) Turning out quite good too!

  • Are they on the same rooftop?

  • Nah, they were across the street from each other!

  • what?. so the beatles rooftop was right across the street?

  • Well, in this parody they were...don't know where the Rutles segment was actually filmed.

  • ookay.

  • The ultimate supergroup! I love it! Clever idea, nice job! You passed the audition!

  • Great job. Thanks.

  • it looks like a mix...they're not really together,

  • Wow what was your first clue? *scarcasm*

  • Ha ha ha! I thought I was the only one who called it "scarcasm"!

  • it cutted my comment, it's not all of the comment >___<

    I meant to write:

it looks like a mix...they're not really together, really! I found it by myself!!

just kidding XP of course it is XP

    Great video!

  • Very clever!

  • Cool! The Rutles!

  • This is the Rutles.

  • DUH! Oh, AND The Beatles! HA HA HA
