They technically did it on Ringo's album "RINGO" in 1973 when they recorded the John Lennon penned "I'm the Greatest", the only one missing on that song was Paul. John's assistant May Pang said in an interview that John wanted try and regroup with the others but when went back to Yoko that was not to be. Yoko told John he was better off without Paul. Sad!

Lennon did not participate in the recording of I Me Mine. A few weeks later he gave the Let It BE tapes to Phil Spector to see if he could make an album. Ringo Starr worked on this and the Let It Be Album came out in May of 1970. By that time Mcartney came out with his first solo album and announced that The Beatles were no more.
