"Deliberate"fire means aimed shots every 2 seconds,I haven't seen any footage of "Bloody Sunday"with automatic fire or even burst only "Deliberate" why don't you get it right before trying to change the subject "buddy"!
look now i am not trying to flame you , just strikes me as strange "aimed shots" were aimed at unarmed civilains in march yet meanwhile in the US the LAPD had a full on firefight with zealots but you want to deem them unprofessional because the firefight lasted longer than you thought. You were not there. How can you judge them like that.
@grodspc-I was not commenting on whether the actions of who the British Army were shooting at,I was saying about the rate of fire that the LAPD SWAT unit used and their drills and the fact that they used a pathetic excuse of being out gunned, surely with superior training which I would expect the unit to have then they should have been able to handle the situation, perhaps as earlier suggested the reason they were on the back foot was due to a fault or faults in use of drills, just my opinion.
ok i agree you may have a point , i just think they were not ready for full auto fire going over their head and that prolonged the firefight.Even back then this kind of thing did not happen everyday. This is the police in the 1970s not a para unit ready for war.
It's hard to believe that so many black folks lived in the area around the 1400 block of East 54th Street back then. Today, that neighborhood is almost entirely Latino.
The British Army calls semi fired rounds "Deliberate",in training we only ever used burst or auto fire once at close range,a deliberate rate of fire is by far more accurate and conservative than either burst or auto fire,I think that perhaps the LAPD and (or) SWAT should have trained in better use of fire teams and tactics rather than using the excuse that the enemy had superior fire power, very unprofessional indeed in my opinion
These cop's statements are misleading. I don't like the SLA but the M-1 and sawed off shotguns that the SLA used were inaccurate at long range. The smoke inside the safehouse also made it hard to see and the gas made it hard for them to breathe. The SLA were firing at what they could only imagine were cops outside. It should have been apparent that the SLA were bent on suicide based on their literature and nature. They were facing many charges including murder. The SLA could only escape or die.
LAPD afraid of grenades because it might look bad. Typical LAPD. Worried more about image than protecting Their little brother LAFD is just as useless.
The S.L.A. were heroic and exemplary. Long live the S.L.A.!
It's a shame that so many Americans regurgitate what the mainstream media has defecated into their mouths and call it their "opinion". Thus, all of the people who don't even know or understand what the S.L.A. was because they get their information from the fascist media.

The SLA died the death they deserved. I am glad they all burned. It was an introduction of what they would get when they were in hell.
