Best I can do is put 2 touch sensors and 1 ultra sonic sensor on it so it continuously can avoid obsticals. Let me know where "brickstick" is available at please.

it is basicly grabbing all the way and since the motor spins through the arm, it will lift when the claw can't move inwards anymore.

NXT has bluetooth so you can use a bluetooth game controller for this.

Watch the action carefully - once the claw is closed the gears that move it jam, so the motor is just turning the whole thing.

How did you program the 360 controller? Do you use microsoft studios?

I wrote a program called bricstick. It makes it easy to control robots like this. Sometime soon I'll make this available for others to use.
