  • DAT JAW!! O_O''

  • my pc suk

cuz i have not upgraded pc !

    160 HDD

    4 GB Ram

    intel p4 2.67 Ghz CPU !

    motherboard = gigabyte g41 intel series !!

    my bad luck !!

  • i am using a core 2 due and a p35 motherboed and on the box it says 45nm ready does that mean i can put a i7 or a i5 or a i3 in then thing coz its a 775 motherbord and i7's are 45nm :/

  • no entendi ni madres

  • ...Fter i bought this hardware .. i can tell u guyz i fell in love with ma pc.all the gamz and the net bcom verey fast.it's amazing.

  • His name isn't Tom! Eek.

  • I bought AMD. It has 4 physical cores (like the i7) but it only cost me $90!

  • HES SO BLURRY

  • I curently have an Q8400 @3,2 but my next cpu will be a Phenom II 1090.

Intel is ok but too expensive for me. Amd is the way to go-.-

  • i didn't understand a thing :p

  • is that english that he is speaking?

  • @hoodysoldy nah hes speaking Zulu

  • @hoodysoldy

    what do u think?! :)

  • This is a joke.....every INTEL i every tried is a p.o.s. that can't multi-task or let alone barely do one thing at a time well.... I tried AMD for the first time ever and its a multi-tasking king and eats DATA for breakfast and craps out INTELS ... I will never look back at an INTEL cpu again. AMD FOREVER!!!!

  • i almost expected him to say, "hi, im a mac"...

  • EVGA P55 FTW LOL.... FTW

  • 240p -_-

  • guys i have a questions. I just brought a dual core i7 dell xps 15z, but i don't know if i should switch it for a i5 dual core. Can someone tell me the difference between a i5 dual core and a i7 dual core? they both have the same GHZ too i think

  • guys i have a questions. I just brought a dual core i7 dell xps 15z, but i don't know if i should switch it for a i5 dual core. Can someone tell me the difference between a i5 dual core and a i7 dual core? they both have the same GHZ too i think

  • intel always becomes better but it is always too bad not to buy a newer one. Just stop buy it.

  • RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I HAVE I7 SONY VAIO

  • Say hello to 240p again...

  • What's the best for gaming?

  • that's nice , but the question is...will it BLEND?

  • i got the core i5 laptop, how the gaming performance

  • quantum computer will rule 'em all

  • do you actualy need to instal that rubo boost (2.0) program to get that turbo boost? Or is that just a visual program?

  • @EliteGhost001 It's a hardware-based feature that's enabled unless you manually disable it.

  • I'll wait when it gets cheaper

  • in this advance awesome age

i still using my grandpa's ancient pentium iv 3.00ghz HT

cause i dont have money to buy an advance processor sigh. . .

  • is it better then intel core 2 duo? im trying to find a processer for lotro

  • @darklink594 Depending on the models you're comparing, almost certainly yes.

  • i7 is fun when you use professional programs that are designed for hyperthreading, otherwise an i5 performs the same

  • @lostny11

cool but I still have an i7

  • WTF, where's i3 :3

  • The i7 2600k is better than all of these..CPU's UNLOCKED

  • @1988scottcarey Yup, this video is more than a year old :)

  • @1988scottcarey i have a i7 2600k :D

  • still rockin' an OC'd q9550 here

  • i7

  • i5's rock games, most games wont utilize hyperthreading! Hyperthreading is more for like video and Audio compression and editing. For basic computer use, games and web surfing. i5 will hang with any i7!

  • anyone else notice that it says "FTW" at 3:16?

  • wow I lost touch since Core 2 Duo.. Today I thought, I'd check out some laptops... then I was hit with i5 and i7and O.O; I feel like a lifetime behind in technology. Can anyone help summarize and update me? T^T so lost.... AMD vs Intel?

  • hit the turbo-bass and what happened next was a total disgrace

  • "Hi this is Chris and I'm a PC"

  • @I8PeeMehrdad79 Damn straight.

  • I have an i5 760 2.8 GHZ Quad and i can run all of today's games at 80-100 FPS. (Black OPs, Bad Company 2, Crysis Warhead, Metro.

    Build: intel i5 760

    4 GB 2x2 RipJaws RAM

MSI HAWK 5770 1 GB Graphics

    P55 LE EVGA Motherboard

    NOMNOMNOM

  • Phenom 955, 965 Mucho mejores procesadores que el i5 e i7

  • intel kicks AMDs ass

  • @awesomeneiss True....

    True.

  • intel celeron is better than all of these...

  • @jworcester92 Celeron Single Core Processor In My Laptop Running 100 Degrees Celcius At Stock Speeds ;) FUCK YEAH CELERON YOU MIGHTY BEAST PLAYING GAMES AT 2 FPS

  • My Pentium II 400 still kicks ass!

  • @LordAtrocities I have Intel Pentium p6100, is it good?

  • @LordAtrocities o please 450 MHz is where it is. :)

  • I have I5 650 and I play cod 6 mw2 and it works well

  • Is i3 still good?

  • @fancysnake1 If you are going with using your pc for everyday task and light gaming etc, it's ok.

  • @fancysnake1

    Core i3-530?

It can be surprisingly good for quite a few games, and is a solid processor all around.

    Not super high performance though.

  • @Usul573 youre to late i got the computer

  • @fancysnake1

Oh, so you got a Core i3 system?

    How is it then?

  • @Usul573 its good i love it plays games good

  • whatttttt i7 uptop ?? i need to know more

  • Hi, I want to Use my laptop in a music studio for computer based music production. Can anybody suggest me which processor should I choose?

  • @prince4d Are you talking about buying a new laptop cause 90% of laptops have a soldered processor which cannot be changed! This here is a desktop processor! Alienware M17X only 1 I know of with replaceable processor, they start at about $1800!! There may be a couple others too! Big Bucks!!

  • is i5 faster then i7?

  • @nukemell

    Which ones?

  • @nukemell i7

    i7 highend

    i5 mainstream

    i3 budget

  • @nukemell Overall, No. Core i5 can be faster then a Core i7 in dual core mode because it normally has a higher clock speed in dual core mode, but in three and four core mode the Core i7 easily outpaces the Core i5 in performance.

  • @nukemell The number scheme tells all!

  • u just got a new subscriber

  • i5 is the same but doesnt have hyper threading I7 owners that do over clock ing turn off hyper threading as it makes extra heat and hyperthreading can make some games run slower ans sometimes a game will run a big code t a virtual core which is not as good as code running on a real core.

  • @NielsShoe core i5 has got hyperthreading. check intels website.

  • @mum123mua No, it has Turbo Boost not Hyperthreading!

  • I have a Core i7 860 an only use msn on my computer.

  • @GamingFreaksHD nice..

  • Have you guys seen that i5-760? It's just a slightly over-clocked and has a higher frequency turbo boost. All can be doe with over-clocking.

  • @LegoDudez Yeah, but you could do that yourself in bios and save the extra money! Always buy Intels bottom processor in a series because they can easily be overclocked to perform with the higher clocked processors. Intel charges hundreds of dollars for higher multiplyer! Not worth extra money!

  • I thought this was an itt tech commercial.

  • so can someone explain in a few simple words the difference between the i5 and i7

  • @oOoRHYSoOo \

Core i5-750 compared to the Core i7s?

Core i7s can split up work better.

That's basically it, Core i5-750 is a really powerful quad core.

  • This is super blurry, please record in HIgh def, I can't read any of the text or tell what the nice charts are showing

  • why did you not mention the ASUS P6T7 WS SUPERCOMPUTER motherboard??

I use this supercomputer board with an i7 oc'd to 4.00 ghz :-D

  • @hexstaticleon This video came out before that motherboard was released =)

  • How good is the i5 intergrated graphics card??? please reply quick. like 512mb or a gig or......256mb??? maybe it doesnt have a certian mb but what the equalivilant??

  • @butlerblimp You can't draw a memory comparison, but unless you're a VERY casual gamer, you'll find that the integrated graphics is fairly lackluster.

  • @chrisangelini How well could it handle mw2 because thats about the most intense game im going to play (mostly starcraft 2 :))

  • @butlerblimp It'd be fine in MW2--the game isn't very demanding, and if you have a decent video card, you'll be ok!

  • I fail to see the "performance" aspect of the i5 when intel has disabled Hyperthreading, I mean a lot of audio apps I use take advantage of that.

  • @jimmybrite Actually, Hyper-Threading is far less important to performance than the four physical cores--that's the more critical architectural detail =)

  • @jimmybrite Four physical cores are going to be vastly superior to two cores with Hyper-Threading. Core i5 is still a fairly high-performance part in that regard.

  • @chrisangelini Yeah I know that, somehow I failed to make that connection on that day.

  • an i3 can work great for cassual desktop gameing and i5 for casual laptop gaming i5 or above for hardcore desktop i7 for hardcore laptop

Graphics card not needed for casual if

    running on low settings

  • If you compare with i7, AMD has more cache, AMD's cache has been even more places each memory device can be stored on (48 compared to Intel's 16). Intel starts to throw away the memory faster than amd if the program / programs are using data from several different places.Bandwidth plays almost no role whatsoever in common desktop applications, bandwidth is more important for servers.

hyperthrething doesn´t give performance for the money

  • what does all this mean in english ? witch is better for gaming ?

  • Is an i3 better than a Core 2 Duo? Someone please answer...

  • @Richie2k6 yes its like comparing the Core2Quad with i5....

  • @Richie2k6

Core i3-530 beats Core 2 Duos pretty much all the time.

  • so which is better i7 or i5 this is 4 gaming

  • to bad nether i5 or i7 is stable enough for me. atleast you got stable clockspeed WHILE NOT CLOCKING. to bad the performance wont be stable... the catch arhitecture is MUTCH better on the amd side when it comes to handle a lot of info.. and it will give 103 % stable performance (phenom965 performs better when the game gets more demanding)

  • Nice account. Thanks.

We talk about these high end hardware but the majority of people do one simple task at a time with their computers e.g. web browsing, emails. Globally user experience with the computers are not that great. I think people should now think about better ways of interacting with computers such as simple user interfaces to make the most out of these cores.

We are aiming at 10% percent of hardware gurus but 90% use only one core even though they have 4 or 6 hyperthreaded cores.

  • i have no idea what that dude just said...

  • @Fawkon just go to this website it has most of those processors and prices.

  • Liquid Nitrogen?! TERMINATOR 2 FLASH BACK!

The CPU cracks then reconstructs it's self... coming 2230 AD.

Seriously, I'm glad I found this. I'm ready to drop 1G on a rig to last me. I'm gonna go with the i5-750, but choosing a mother board is a pain in the ass.

What mother board should I use? Give me a $100-150 option and a $200+ one. Why go higher?

  • You can spend around 1100 and get an i7 rig so dont bother.

  • @TheMadOrc

I'd like to see that shopping kart. My New Egg Wish list with a i5 is like $1100 plus tax.

  • Is that with everything or just the parts?

  • @TheMadOrc Now remember it's just a wish list. I've been procrastinating going through with this because of a lack of confidence and my current PC -- a Pentium 4 w/ 1.25 GB of RAM -- works well enough

My wish list on New Egg is named "ERS P55 Rig". IDK if you'll be able to find it, but I made it public tonight and that's the name.

    My rig includes : Case $99.99 , Power Supply $139.99, Mobo $189.99, CPU $199.99, RAM $109.99, Video Card $174.99, DVD writer $26.99 , Hard Drive $119.99, OS $99

  • I cant find your rig sorry

  • I think if you can though you would be better off with an i7 920 It will last you longer. If you need a new comp now okay but otherwise Id save up.

  • @EdwarioERS

okay u but i can't see your rig and if you got this it costs $1160,92 which is quite much (to me because i'm only 16 years old however i don't know how old you are but if you're like the same you got a pretty expensive rig ;) ).

  • can a PC have i5 i have a friend he says he has i5 on his PC

  • I dont exactly understand your question, but yes a pc can be built with a i5. Its not like its a program you run its a cpu

  • wow

  • bullogs. amd is a samrter choice while playing games.

the amd phenom x4 3.4 ghz beats any maxclocked intel cpu even without overclock in gaming

    check out the benches XD

  • Thus why something called overclocking exists.

At stock rates amd is obviously higher but it won't oc as much compared to a i7.

  • and intel processers have turbo boost. When u need the speed, it alrdy beats amd.

  • just an fyi core i 7 and i 5 are basically a revamped Pentium just a lot more powerful , however ht is a pain in the butt it is still a crap shoot but at slightly overclocked speeds its great i always loved ht but i don't agree with intel's tactics of marketing nor do i like there chipsets

  • AMD/ATI x4 940 & CF 4870x2.

Engage in the challenge of people, ideas and institutions driving change in the world.

    Foxler, Furry Fandom

  • yeah because the 4 hd5770 but everybody nows core i5 750 is better than ph ii x4 965

  • people dont' be stupid, a core i5 750 kicks in the ass of a ph ii x4 965

  • bullshit..... my comp will destroy and i7 and nvdia 295 series.....

    my specs is

    amd x4 965

    msi 790fx

    12 gb ram ddr3

    4x 5770 vaporx ati cards.....

  • @ Hanomag: LOL. Numbers, big guy. Prove the destruction with numbers...

  • @TheRodrigogames That depends. In most any game, the 965BE competes with the i7 975 Extreme at stock speeds. Tom's actually proved it can hang with the brand-new Intel i7 980 Xtreme in games. In multi-threaded business, multimedia, and audio/video applications, the Intel's usually pull ahead.

  • Men you got be kidding me. The i7's, i5's and Phenom II X4 in games are the same. But in some part of the games de intel i5/i7 wins over the phenoms ii.

  • LOOOOOOL

  • @TheRodrigogames NO it does not :)

  • @TheRodrigogames that's because amd gives way to low ghz to the cores.. you can clock them over big time.. + Intel most of the time is a lill' more exspensive so most buy amd if they have low budgets.. else intel;]

  • @TheRodrigogames

    but cost more...

  • Im still going for an AMD. You can't silence me Intel lovers! :P

  • AMD X4 kicks Intel's ass!!!

  • phenom x4 is the way to go if you want to get a good cpu for gaming. look at the stock speed there

Give me thums down if you are a intel fanboy.

  • AMD is shitty

  • @adolf512

Phenom x4 does have higher stock speeds than a Intel Core i5, but you can overclock the i5 at the same speed of the Phenom x4. When you do the Intel Core i5 is much more stable and preforms better than the Phenom x4.

  • @GodLikeSkillz89

the sulutions in phenom II will give a mutch moore stable performance. when pushing i5 it will NOT give moore stable performance.

i5 is a good cpu when not gaming very mutch and still want to get good overall performance. it´s also pretty cheap.

  • me too

  • i got a i5 now with a Asus P7P55D-e Deluxe and a 4 gb kingston hyper X memory

  • Could I get some help on which motherboard to get for the i5 processor. I've found the P55M-UD2 or the P7P55D which ones best?

  • Yeah sure. If your not in to CF or SLI then and more fancy features, then just buy a P55M-UD2, just like me. A great board for a (very) cheap price :)

  • Its Chris, Im totally subbing

  • the core i5 and i7 do not share the same socket. the core i7 fits a LGA1366 and the i5 fits a 1156

  • Just remember that there is also a Core i7 that also fits into the LGA 1156 interface, too. It's somewhat confusing on Intel's part; however, bear in mind that the feature that separates Core i5 and i7 is Hyper-Threading support, not the socket.

  • there're 2 serios of i7 .. i7 8xx series that fits 1156 and i7 9xx serios that fits 1366 :)

  • The new core i7 800 series is for the 1156 socket

  • @neardood1 there are actually two models of i7 one is 1366 and the other is 1156. i5s and i3s on the other hand are only 1156

  • If you want to know thsee are the solutions.

An not complete i7(8 series) without hyper threadin is core i5(7 series). But actually although turbo boost it is like the last generation of core 2 quads(Q9 series).

If you want core i5 put core 2 quad and if you want i7(8 series) put another i7(9 series, socket lga 1336 THE POWER)

  • Hahas..oh..ok...you are so funny!ya i will be buying the 1366 x58 board...to go with the core i7 950..the board i think i will go with the gigabyte x58 ud5 board..but there's 1 thing i would like to ask...i currently have 4gb of cosair ddr3 1600mhz ram...can i use it on the x58 board too??

  • RAM- yes you can, but you need to find another identical stick.

    What do you have 2x2GB?

You either have to find another single 2GB module OR buy TWO additional 2x2 packs (for a total of 12GB) to make it triple channel. Do you see what I mean.

Yes, you can buy a 950. OR you can buy a 920 (identical CPU, worse batches) and overclock it with ease to 965+ speed. That's what everyone does. Get a good cooler.

That MOBO's fine. P6T DeluxeV2 (ASUS) is also good

  • One more thing to keep in mind- what the CPU is called on the outside NEVER matters.

You want a Nehalem Bloomfield core with D-O stepping. That's it.

If you'd bought an 1156 system you'd be getting a LYNNFIELD CPU. They can call it i7 or i5 or 950 or 920 or Steve or Keith.

It doesn't matter. What matters is what's ACTUALLY in there.

Did you know Pentium E2000 series is now a 45nm Wolfdale (core2duo) product?

You sound like a smart guy. Learn this stuff. Save money. Be happy.

  • hmm...i don't understand the D-O stepping thing?i have a 2x2GB module..cause i was useing a 790i motherboard..but it die on me just after a year of use..i do not know how to overclock a core i7..haha..

  • And don't be worried- the high end overclocker motherboards are user friendly. They want you to overclock them. You can make it faster and stable in 5 minutes. WAY faster, stable, at the lowest voltage possible-- that takes time.

  • Hey,,anyone here can help me?should i get a p55 motherboard or x58 for core i7?

  • p55 ,p55 can support core i5,and core i7

  • so if i am goin for core i7 which want should i get then?

  • if you are thinking about the p55 then go with a core i7 that has a socket 1156 ,because if you buy a core i7 with a socket 1366 then it will not fit.

  • X58. Period. Go. Now.

  • P55/ 1156 supports i7 and i5 in the 800 series. It ONLY HAS 2 channels of RAM not 3, it also has a single I/O hub (P55) compared to X58's hub and controller (X58, ICH10)

In a P55 the PCIEX16 controller is integrated on die whereas on the X58 it is on the actual X58 chip.

This means on a P55 to get an x16 link across multiple cards you need an extra controller on the MOBO.

Also, Socket 1366 *(X58) will support SIX core processors coming out soon.

    I would NOT buy a P55.

  • oh..really?whens the new 6 core processors are coming out??thx for your help!!

  • I don't know check the intel roadmap it's not a secret or anything. Probably late 2010.

Point is for like $200 difference you can have a much more scalable system that will grow for a couple of years in a way 1156 won't.

People don't seem to realize that socket 1156 exists to compete with AMD's inferior albeit excellent offerings and beat them. That's it.

    It's the mainstream option.

  • Look at it this way.

Do you want to say "Ya I can run all the new games great it's a good system"

or do you want to say

    "MUAHAHAHAHA! THE POWER!! THE POWER!!"

    1366.

Once you make up your mind I can suggest mobos etc

  • excellent overview.

  • 3:34 What's up with the 6 RAM slots for that Gigabyte Mboard???

  • yes that is weird since P55 is dual chan... hmm...

  • Ok i'm confused. \i'm a reasonably experience system builder for my own needs but im at that age now where it is no longer fun to constantly research the next purchase.

I just want to know whats the best because there seems to be some overlap of performance from the lower end i7 to the i5.

O and one more thing what power PSU should I be looking for plenty of headroom for the future. I guess 460 don't cut it?

Whens someone going to do a Metacritic for hardware.

  • the core i5/and i7 are exactly the same. however the core i5 is a little bit more energy efficient. and only has 4 threads. and 4 cores. and if your using a system for gaming. your better off with the core i5. as anygame cant use 8 threads. most cant even use 4.

  • From the impression I've gotten so far, I'd say the performance with the lower end i5 vs i7 are similar. The only difference is that i7s run multi-threaded apps a lot faster plus they have the 1366 socket which is headroom for the future. They're coming out with the i9s in the coming years which will only be on the 1366 sockets.
