I don't know if age has anything to do with it or it is due to injuries sustained in the plane crash in '77, but Gary Rossington played better on Free Bird back then than he has in more recent years.

Rossington=smooth

Allen=faster but less smooth but great repeating licks

Leonard skinard was the bands' english teacher at school and that is where they got the name from. They just changed the vowels in his name to ys!!

I was but I wasn't allowed to stay up and watch it. :-( I remember peeping round the door and listening in ... for aboy 10 seconds before being sent back to bed. Our telly was still black and white!!!
