I play the sicilian as black all the time now, but I don't think 3.Bb5 will work very well on. I play the Sicilan Defence Nimzowitsch variation e4 c5 Nf3 Nf6! It's got some similarity to the Alekhines defence...
2.Nc6 leads to the sveshnikov, and if White is not well prepared it's a very difficult opening to handle. That's why 3.Bb5 is very annoying for black, at least, that's what I feel as a sveshnikov player.

Sicilian is to be played for black: 2c5 3d6 and not 3nc6!
Although what you says is interesting, it has not much to do about the Sicilian has it is played today!

no... 3. d6 leads into the classical, najdorf, or dragon variation. 3. Nc6 can lead into other variations.
