@mrtoolstop: straight from the horses ass you say! Mine is dead today, after less that 60 charges, and one year of use, not heavy....You need a new horse....
I also have two dead batteries. They both died at about a year old, and I was barely using them [because i was injured and couldn't work]. When I spoke to someone at a Makita dealership they told me that using the batteries in the flashlight can kill the battery for some reason. That's exactly what I was doing with them. So, warranty is expired and I'm out almost $200... This was my first experience after shifting from DeWalt cordless drills. NOT HAPPY.
This video is a load of bull shit I bought the lxt kit 2 and a half years ago no way have I charged the indevidual batteries 2000 time and all three have died. Sent them to Makita they came out with a load more bullshit after 6 weeks sent them back to me unrepaired as 'it wasn't possible to repair'. Luckily my friend who has this problem alot more than me as he relies on these for his job as he has no power most of the time on site, his local tool supplier replaces all the broken ones with new
1st battery died after about 4 months. 2nd one died after about 8 months.
Now I have a kit I can't use, and I can't afford new batteries on my 1st year Apprentice wage.
I think light load applications are fine with these batteries, they'll last forever. But anything that places heavy demand upon them and they are doomed.
Ah hall This video is a response to my video... lol
1000 or 2000 cycles... not to contradict you but the Sony Lithium cells inside have a spec sheet saying 500 cycles... not 2000 !! These cells are the 18650V ( 1.5-1.6Ah each cells) and they are 5 group of two parallel cells for 18V 3.0Ah.
At optimum conditions these give are 500 cycles... and under powertools use conditions.. that drop drasticly to somewere 200-300 cycles dur to the higher current demand that age cels faster.
@Doctorbass The info in this is straight from the horses mouth. It was shot in Makitas head office in Milton Keynes, UK. Maybe you've had bad luck or heard bad luck stories but from our experience we've heard of loads of guys with extended life on these. Good to hear from you though.

I've had the same batteries for 3.5 years and use them at least 5x a week. They are still going strong.
