  • Is that Mike Rutherford on the gray Strat (in the foreground at 2:12)?

  • @wrf1973 Yep that is Mike.

  • I love this performance, even the back up singers sounded great.

  • Classic

  • I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it on an ice cream commercial years ago. I love this live version more that the studio version, but they are both great. I miss down-right good singing like this.

  • Este loco es un geeenio! Su voz me acompaña desde niña!

  • This songs perfectly describes the kind of day I'm having.......

  • I read where he wrote this about another band member who had been coaxed into leaving to join another band. Kind of neat he turned it around into more of a love-cheating kind of song.

  • great video!!!!

  • amazing song and a great voice

  • I love love this song and no-one does it like Paul!

  • An already great song.....EVEN BETTER LIVE !!!!!! This song's been a long time fav of mine and will continue to be. Thanx for posting this.

  • Genial - thx for this vid...;)

  • Wow! He still has it! What a great voice. Totally cool.

  • I saw him live in Kings Lynn in 2010. The show was fantastic. Paul is an unbelievable singer and musician. He's also very unselfish as he gave 2 of his backing singers/ muscians their own songs to sing. How many of today's 'so called' stars will still be singing 30 - 40 years later??

  • @blueleadguitar I totally agree with you. I have seen Paul Carrack live four times and he is still amazing - in fact, I thought the last concert I went to (February 2011 at Codagon Hall, London) was the best!

  • Wow.. with Mike Rutherford :) Great Video! Thank You!

  • @HighwayHunkie Pino Paladino on the bass yo!

  • Paul could sing the phone book and I'd buy it. What a great voice!

  • @drivingrain1 Amen to that!

  • @drivingrain1 You know who I wouldn't pay to sing the phone book? Bob Dylan.

  • Paul could sing the phone book and I'd by it. What a great voice!

  • Paul Carrick/Phil Collins...twin sons from different Mothers!! LOL!!

BTW....What's with the Commie hat Paul??

  • It's been going on over 30 years!!! This dude rocks!!! I have to ask how many of today's "artists" will be entertaining people 30 years from now?

  • his voice is beyond amazing.

  • its kinda gratifying to fine an old song ,its ,like opening a door of minds memorys ,a time capsule if you will

  • classic....he still sounds the same from the 70's.........B

  • Ian Thomas on drums.

  • Great song, great voice!!!

  • One of my favorites from '74 with ACE and Paul!

  • Well the thousands of people that see PC every week will tell you that he is brilliant.

I am one of those thousands, saw him at the winding wheel in Chesterfield at the start of the year and we have our tickets for the gig at the Sheffield City Hall in December.

A Paul Carrick gig is great , just let your ears do all the work.. How long and many other classics are rolled out with affection, highly recommended

  • Love it

  • sure it's Mike Rutherford it's for he's name the Mike And The Mechanics ;)

  • what is the bass players name ?

  • @jmjk63 I think it's Mike Rutherford?

  • @jmjk63 Pino Palladino..

  • @jmjk63

at first glance I think the bass player on this performance is Pino Palladino (he's every where)

  • This guy does a great job with the solo

  • Timeless!

Heard this song in 1977 for the first time and it`s still GREAT !!

  • Glad to be in good company, I was spell bound the whole gig in Chesterfield in February,

My bro the Music man saw him in Holmfirth bought the DVD, "I know that name" then went to see Muse at the Arena in Sheffield, When I told him i was planning to see Paul Carrack in Chesterfield a few week later he insisted on going to see Paul again, Gave me the DVD to look at before the show.

  • Fucking amazing! Paul you rock!

  • Hammond B3 Rules!!!

  • silly fekker forgot to play the keyboard as the song started. miming. lip synch

  • He was playing the organ part at the start, not piano (see about :19 to :25), and probably through the whole tune, while singing lead... had a backup piano player (see 1:56).

  • are you nuts!!, That was no lip synching at all. He has an incredible voice and is a real performer.

  • Cool to see Rutherford but, who's the other guitar player ?

  • Phil Palmer, he played with Clapton for a few years during the /journeyman time

  • Paul sounds even better now then he did back in the day if that is even possible. A pure totally underrated talent!

  • Oh yeah, I saw Paul yesterday. Open air in Germany on that beautiful summer evening. He was great as everything. His voice so unbelievably and like noone else - always directly recognizable. And the band: Guitar, bass, Sax, Trumpet, drums, 2 keys and a piano...and a background singer. What a picture: every band member in office clothes with tie, except Paul with jeans and a jacket. The only thing that I missed that evening: All I need is a miracle.....

  • WOW!....Brilliant Paul!...love your voice & have always loved this song.... you still got it...cheers!

  • great song, I was 11 when this originally came out, I still love it!

  • Paul Carrack is great. This is one of my all time favorites.

  • This is what an updated song from the 70's will sound like in the millenium! If today's technology was around then, today's artists would be put to shame. in my opinion they already are (except a few). What a GREAT key!

  • saw gary moore in april what a load if rubbish he was

  • He was supporting the Eagles, this was the first song of the night. And it was awesome!

  • Why wonder why Mike Rutherford accepted to bass this song...?

If you respect people ,you' might have to know them down-to -the-ground-first- and keep-your-head-up-high-out-of-the-muddy-waters....

  • How long?

How long ...has this "thing" been going on?

ACE , the name of the group ,sir.

Try not to EASILY--blind-see-self-fooling misunderstand a word of this!

Don't you want to grow up a MAN by LEARNING!

    I do it....everyday...

    Bernard Belgium

  • Brilliant song. I hear he is supporting the Eagles at Glasgow Saturday 4th July. Good job I have tickets !!

  • Very nice live performance. True to the original recording and it shows that music must be done with heart.

  • Paul Carrack a true musician - without the ego of so many. Fantastic.

  • Paul Carrack is the MAN!

  • sounds as good as it did in 74, the man still has a great voice

  • perfection in every word........B

  • Love those keys...

  • if i could sing like anyone it would be paul carrack

  • You got it mikey. I've been a professional musician for a long time. and he's who I'd like to sound like. One of the only guys that I'd put in the same league, at least with bluesy stuff, is Greg Allman.

  • great performance

  • and Mike Rutherford to boot

  • No "Mechanics?"

  • Paul Carrack was around and had many hits WAY before there even *was* a "Mike and the Mechanics"!!

  • No comment except Thanks! I say that because your reply made me come look at this gem of a video again. Reply later and you'll make me come back again - I hope. Oh & this may actually be better than the original. It has so so much feel to it. What a gem of song.

Thanks again! (for real). I REALLY mean it!
