  • Seek and you shall find. He should look for work instead of waiting for someone to offer him a job. NO one is going to give you work! No handouts; take the initiative to help yourself...

How OLD is this video? Those cars look old. lol

  • @OmgLoLw2gLuvUidkROFL This footage is very old. I shot these interviews 10 - 13 years ago.

  • Junebug, I found the homeless interviews very intriguing. I see that you carried out your investigation almost three years ago. I'm curious to know if their circumstance has changed, any updates?

  • @StarGyrl Thanks for watching. Actually, these clips were already around 10 years old when I uploaded them to You Tube, so that means the footage was shot around 12 years ago.

I don't know what happened to these men I interviewed... whenever I am in the area where I first met them, I am always hoping that I run into one of them because I am curious to know how they are doing. So far this hasn't happened.

  • Interesting videos. Actually the results are pretty much what most people assume. Giving these people money is not an act of compassion. It simply enables them to avoid receiving the help that they need, but apparently don't want. If they wanted the help, there are public organizations and private charities waiting and willing to help them.

  • Glad I never went this route. I am so strong.

  • This guy deserves a home and a job unlike some of those ghetto thugs.

  • I watched all three parts. Thank you for giving the world your perspective on whats going on in the world. Homelessness is a big problem in the world. And they are not invisible people. They have mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and children too. They are human just like you and me. I do believe that a lot of us are one paycheck away from being homeless. If I have something to share with a homeless person, I try to share. Because I never know when that could be me. God Bless!

  • All the homeless just need to be captured and taken to rehab and made to work and get used to working. Let them earn a car and a place to live then release back into the world. All they know is get money, buy the drugs, use the drugs, repeat.

  • To respect the next man or the next woman is the key to life. Unity is what we need.

  • Great interview. I recognize that area...Lee Street Exit off of I-20

  • We should convert all church property to homeless shelters, and enact a world class single payer health care program, payed for by the richest and most fortunate.

  • @Antiks72: Wait, what?

So you're saying we should get rid of all churches for that? WHAT THE HELL?

How about converting all drug stores to homeless shelters?

I think churches help more people than drug stores do!

  • @Romeighla Churches don't help anyone. Religion is stupid and dangerous.

  • @Antiks72: That is your own opinion, so don't go around stating it as if it's some kind of fact. It is not.

Prior to what you just said, I will let you know that the Catholic church has helped my family through many problems we have had to face, and even helped my mother rise to her feet again after being diagnosed with depression and sleeping disorders. Religion isn't stupid and "dangerous" either. It may cause many wars, but it is what joins many people together. You are just ignorant to that.

  • @Romeighla Of course it's an opinion. We don't need churches to help the poor. We can convert all of these monuments of ignorance into secular welfare buildings for the poor or DMVs or something like that.

  • @Antiks72: We don't need A LOT OF STUFF in the world to "help" the poor.

I'm sorry, but do you REALLY believe that if we began taking down all of the churches and "converting" them into some kind of place to help the poor... it will do anything? Chances are, it won't. Not only that, many people will be angry. It just wouldn't work and would NEVER happen. Sorry, but unless you have money in this world, you will be nothing and will remain nothing.

  • @Romeighla They'd get mad? Too bad. They can hold services in their homes. Religions is cancer here in America.

  • @Antiks72: I'm sorry but this is all your own opinion and would never happen.

    They wouldn't JUST get mad.

Holy shit, getting rid of a church would create more problems than lessening problems. You don't even have to go to school to realize that.

  • @Romeighla Sweetheart, I think it's time you go to your barbie dolls and leave the serious discussions for us. kthx.

  • @Antiks72: "Serious"?

    Lmfao you're DELUSIONAL, and sad.

Stay the ignorant person you are, alright? Kthnx.

  • @Romeighla LOL aren't you ironic. begone with you

  • @Antiks72: I'm not the one sitting here bashing religion like everyone else.

If you don't realize that religion is a big part of culture, I'm sorry but perhaps you are the one sitting at home playing with barbie dolls in a little corner.

  • @Romeighla Honey, in England, France, and most of Western Europe culture is chugging along quite fine without religion in the mix. Now stop trolling and tend to your dolls, girlie.

  • @Antiks72: There is a reason why you did not mention the U.S.A., and that is because culture and people would not do "quite fine" without religion.

If Religion wasn't important, it wouldn't cause wars. You're ignorant beyond belief. How about YOU stop the idiotic trolling? (or are you actually serious? lmfao.)

  • @Romeighla The USA isn't doing fine, my dear. Religion isn't solely to blame, but Sarah Palin and the Tea Baggers are. Oh, and if I were trolling, you'd be in tears.

  • @Antiks72: That's what I just said in my previous comment, or can you not read?

Well if you aren't trolling you're just talking bullshit, which is alright too.

Now, you may think I have loads of time on my hands to keep responding to your idiotic comments bashing on religion, but I do not. I have a lot of better things to be doing rather than talking to an idiot like you who cannot grasp the simple concept that religion has been a big part of culture and still is today. Goodbye.

  • @Romeighla Anal sex?

  • @Antiks72 There is no culture left in England only reality television, the EU is more or less a police state,if you really believe what you have said then you need your head examined.have a nice day.

  • @drfan2004 Pales in comparison to America that though, I'd wager.

  • @Antiks72 Okay so you're telling me that non believers dont murder rape and con people? Most people who go to prision go in there atheist and then find religion. how bout that?

  • @fmcneillii Yeah, right.

  • this is a good man

  • Thanks for taking the initiative to upload this. I have no idea if this is just my perception but I've always believed that homelessness is linked to depression which causes a lack of motivation and leads to substance abuse and creates the whole vicious cycle and I wondered.. Does the US offer some type of free rehabilitation centers and/or treatment for depression and similar issues? (I'm not American)

  • @cuppycakeism I agree with you about the issue of depression (or bipolar disorder). When I was interviewing these men, especially the man in Part TWO of this series, I noticed all the signs and symptoms.

These men can apply for disability and get treatment for depression, but if they are on the street and no one is there to intervene, there is no way they will know what to do on their own.

  • @cuppycakeism growing up being dark skin in america is depressing enough - made to feel ugly

  • @SunnyWinters718 What? Being black period in america is hard no matter what complexion you are that shouldn't make you feel ugly. You can't play the skin color card because things like being disable are far harder to deal with.

  • @fmcneillii - i hear you - i don't feel ugly - i was just saying -

i'm the best looking man in the world - but being dark skin in america is harder - true words - if you ain't feeling those words you're probably white

  • @SunnyWinters718 No I'm black. There are things harder to deal with than even being black.

  • @fmcneillii Peace and love yo

  • Thankyou for this. I know I have misconceptions, and I have always wondered "how does that happen?". I hope you continue this series (maybe you could get a grant, this is good research)

  • I would Search the man for any weapons he has, and if he has any ask him if I may have them. I would then drive him to the nearest thrift store and buy him some clothes that fit him. Then drive him to Burger King and get him a couple burgers. Then drive him back to where i found him, and give him 10 dollars. This is assuming I was not that busy that day with my own personal buisness.

  • Yes, I would give him some of my money.

  • He has really nice teeth.

  • i wish his family would try harder, and basically MAKE him get right. & they do have that power.

  • @ashleyoswell32 You can not help a person; until they want to help themselves. Hopefully, his family will not give up on him.

  • @allTRIPLE1 yeah you are right about that. It''s sad how the drugs just take over everything.

  • wow its sad to see that he is as bad off as a lot of druggy-bums. He could fix his life, but just doesn't have the drive

  • That guy has some inner demons.

  • most of the problem seems to go back chemical dependence of some kind

  • god bless everyone of us..

  • i dnt look down on homeless people, but their issues seem to just be monumental, sometimes i will give them some money but most times i don't.. i'm not really proud or ashamed of either action.. however i will say that i have great disdain for those who don't respect those less fortunate on a basic level.. anytime u have someone with less power, or money, or self esteem than u, then u have to show them love, respect, and mercy, if u don't then to me u are a jerk and a coward

  • lol ... this dude has no hope whatsoever

  • @free2rock85 how the fuck is that funny?

  • I def disagree with you. He is one of the only ive seen that you can tell is intelligent and could fix his life, just doesn't have people pushing him

  • @ashleyoswell32 oh yeah, like I do have people pushing me to go to work everyday right? Maybe he should find himself a nice her who can help him right? Oh no....he can't cuz he use the chemical the kept him from having a relationship.

Your simple answer to this problem is "just doesn't have ppl pushing him"? haha, your so naive.

  • I don't think people should feel obligated to give to the homeless or to ignore the likeliness that the homeless person is going to spend some of the money on a substance. However, I think people discriminating on who to give to and why, is pretty telling (when you think of all those who operate in such ways including where they personally are concerned). Discrimination and injustices play a KEY role in how people end up whether people refuse to acknowledge that or not.

  • I loved the part where he mirrored the homeless people asking for help (via pan handling) to people asking for help (via gov't assistance). Of course wondering HOW said person is going spend the money is going to cross a person's mind. However, refusing to help someone (financially), because you do not feel they are going to be using it the way YOU want them to should not be the motivation behind giving or trying to help another (especially if that person is grown).

  • BTW...you asked some excellent questions. Not sure if this is the same guy as in the first video (he looks different...better actually and his story isn't consistent). Needless to say, great work. I don't think people take enough time to think about the realities (past, present, and future) of the homeless. They simply pass judgment without understanding the various complex factors that affect homeless individuals. Additionally, for some, homeless life is easier than real life which is telling.

  • This man could be Jesus Christ testing you.I would give to him from the bottom of my heart.

  • Well if he chose to leave him lol dat was his stupid choice o.o

  • i would not give this man my money. for one he has a family that can help him, sometime you must swallow your pride, esp when it comes to safety. and his family doesn't sound too bad

  • *about homeless people

  • nice interview, you never really know what to think about a homeless people until you actually talk to them.

  • No way I would give this one a dollar, I would give this one a job...... I also think he is one step away from putting a knife in my back if I gave him a dollar....

  • Such a waste !!!!!

  • He sounds so articulate !!!

  • I was homeless for 2 weeks with my 9 year old daughter. Living in that shelter was an awful feeling. Never give up on people. NEVER.

  • Great interview. I hope that he will get a job and stop doing drugs and drinking too much.

  • Perhaps, it is because giving one homeless man 50 cents every month or so is all it takes to make you feel good about the tragic reality. The paradigm is nonsensical. For this, among many other reasons, I do not give money to the homeless.

  • If you are one who gives money to homeless people, why not give them more? Why only 50 cents? Why not all of the money you have? Furthermore, you must take into account all homeless people--and here is where the crux of the issue reveals itself. Why one homeless person and not another? Why 50 cents and not a dollar?

  • It's up to each person to decide how much to give to whom, if at all. I guess I don't know how your argument stops you from giving. And "take into account all homeless people?" what's that about? Society should take them into account but it doesn't; that's why they're homeless. So how does that stop you from giving 50 cents to somebody on the corner?

  • I have given money to the poor and homeless all my life and will continue to do so. To all who don't sympathize, try being homeless one day of your life with no money or a packed lunch. You will appreciate your position and contribute to your fellow man thereafter.

  • yes i would. i have a Heart!

  • He has an Articulate air about him.

  • I won't give them any thing even if I had a pocket full of money LoL. I'm not going to help them out and take food and candy out of my little girl's mouth. These people always come up with some dumb ass story to help them out, then you see them later on fucking with more people. I just tell them I don't have any cash on when they ask. I'm going to start telling them to fuck off.

  • i do the same thing i dont work to support anyones ones drug habbit, just so they can steal from me later then they get mad like its my fault there out there.

  • Yeah for sho. I know some damn bum or homeless person broke into my family's house not to long ago. If I knew who did it I would fuck his world up even more.

  • JunebugObama, I just wondered what your opinion on this subject was. If you could reply to this in a comment that would be great.

  • RazrKlaw, I have no problems buying A MEAL for someone who is down on their luck and working to get out a bad situation....but I do not believe I should contribute my money towards somebody's drug or alcohol problem. That is not helping them.

  • (RazrKlaw cont'd) I deal with each homeless person as an individual and my opinion varies based on their situation. Many of them have mental issues and that is the main reason they can't change. There needs to be a facility (or shelter) that addresses their MENTAL ISSUES instead of just giving them food and temporary lodging.

Depression and Bipolar are very common among the homeless and they are not getting treatment/medication for it and they won't change until they get treatment.

  • RIGHT ON!!

  • @JunebugObama Most people are self-centered. We are not tring to help anyone solve life problems. We are too much focus on our own lives. We have our own problems to deal with...Giving a homeless person a meal is nice, how about the other days of the year. S/He can not live off of that one Meal alone!!! You are not helping them neither in the long term. Saying that, it is not your responsibity either. We can only do what we can do.

  • @allTRIPLE1 True... I agree with the points you made. We are self centered because we have to be. The average American has to concern himself with paying the bills and putting food on the table for himself and his family. After that is done, there isn't much time or money left to go out and save the world. So, I am not at all against people who are focused on their own individual needs and the needs of their family. Charity starts at home.

  • He did not make a good choice to go on the street to live. But his main problem is his addictions to drugs and alochol

  • i dig this junebug. this is real cool what you did interviewing these people out here where they at and them do the talking. alotta the time people got condescending views towards homeless people. my uncle was top of his class in everything. his iq was in the upper 130's. anyway my point is being smart and being able to land any kind of job is not enough for some people. for years he had a problem with alcohol. he lived with us in the same crib. so i understand this mans predicament.

  • I'm crying the part two was so sad and this one was just overwhelming because it's clear that he has potential but his habit is holding him back

  • unity is what we need!

    perfect end to the interview.

Anyone who has a negative ignorant view on homeless people, are the same people that judge anyone in society who is different. This guy is just one story out of a billion, in this system unity, respect and love cannot survive therefore there will allways be poverty...the system we live in must CHANGE first!!!

  • mental illness, is number 1

  • He is more articulate than many rappers these days.

  • He seems like a smart person, sometimes smart people make stupid decitions.good luck.

  • not smart enough

  • This is a good little documentary you made. It called the situation down the middle with not bias for either side and let the viewer get as much untainted information as possible. The point this proves is that poverty is not an issue of money or opportunity but other issues in the U.S. These men may not have a high school diplomat but skills which they can use in and that is important. It is up to them how they live and what they have in their lives.

  • He's very respectful, but he made some bad choices in his life. God made us where we can change our lives and reason with ourselves to do better. He has a loving family, but he chooses to do what he do. And since he won't help himself, I can't help him. I've been there with my wife and 3 kids and if I can do it, I know for a fact that 1 person(him) can do it. No excuses.

  • hsmarlon, It's great you have such a supportive wife who would stay and be understanding through those difficult times.

  • I guess he is what we would call a free spirit.

  • ..and its a damn shame. he's so well spoken...imagine what his life would've been like if he would've stayed away from drugs and stayed in school.

    He would've kicked ass!!

  • its seems like its the same ol' story when it comes to homeless people and it all stems from drugs.

  • These are great, provacative posts Junebug.....keep it up!

  • how come vietnam vets get no love?

  • @ johnied8509

I agree, although he's down on lhis luck, he did say that he has a family that's wiling to step in and help him. I'd say that it's up to him to take the first step.

  • I'd give him a loaf of bread.

  • Bless his heart! He is so transparent. It's a shame he has chosen to live on the streets and waste away.

This video series is necessary, but so sad. Great job!

As for giving him money, I no longer give any homeless person money. However, I will buy them food. I've found that they refuse the food in alot of cases because they want the money for drugs or alcohol. I refuse to support an addiction, but I will feed them.

  • Moknomusik, I tend to think like you. I am leery about giving money that may be used to support more substance abuse. One of the reasons why I did this series is because I wanted people to know where some of their money may be going when they give. It may be used to buy some crack...you never know. Buying them a meal is something they sometimes refuse.

  • Yeah you said it Junbug......a LOT of homeless people have mentall illnesses.

I bet 85% of them have mental illness and the rest are on drugs.....with maybe 1% or 2% in the "other" catagory.

A lot of vietnam vets are homless too.

  • yea he needs help but the only one that can help him is his own self.

  • ★★★★★

  • He being Honest but he need to get some help off the streets-Join a Salvation Army Recovery program

  • I'd give him a couple dollas

  • How can this Strong Handsome Young and Bright guy be homeless. He has moral values, his pride keeps him from living under a roof till he get his life together. He wont get his life together down the road hes taking but HE is a speical case, I can see someone showing him some guidance and some help and him running with it.

  • He has so much potential then to be in the state hes in, he need education to lift his eyes onto something higher than just the philosophy of RESPECT and learning to live from the "streets", I was like that once but I was young. That guy needs to move back into his mom/grandma home, join a church group, get better friends, quite the drinking while hes depress, and join a community college or sumin.

  • great comment and i agree, i m very close to this very situation and he should be very grateful that he at least has a family to go to. Youre so right about education being the light that leads one out of such dark circumstances. its the only thing really that keeps me striving to keep from going under. cheers and take care.

  • no , i woouldn't give this man money .i'm tired of helping people that don't want help..It use to make me happy when I would tip them with changes .Not anymore ,Its upset me when they approach me especially when they start off with these lame ass stories I'm suppose to fall for ....--the less people to give them money the more will get up to do something.

  • your riches are not measured by how much you have. its measured by how much you give.

thats not a good attitude to have. You should give regardless of their incentives. at the end of the day, all that matters is that you gave and God will bless you.

  • you know what ironman ,you're right about 'giving ' I cant argue with you because deep down inside i know its the godly thing to do. And the next time a homeless person ask me for some money i will help him.Not because i know i'll be bless in return,i'll do it because its thr right thing to do .

  • thats the spirit. Remember, You'll just never know when you will get in a situation where you will need some support.

  • thanks for the reminder.you know sometimes situations get tough and throw you off track.

  • Great installment hope you do more interviews.

  • If homeless people have a situation where they can do better, and they don't...then shame on them. They could be so much more beneficial to themselves and others if they get over whatever is holding them back, work towards viable solutions, and get off the streets. I'm not saying that that is easy, just saying. I give all the time, but it pisses me off when I see the same person in the same spot longer than a year. Then, my idea about their situation turns into something totally different.

  • Vintage27...I see your point and some of them I have seen for years and they are not taking advantage of the opportunities that some of them have to get off the street. Part of this is due to mental illness.

  • yea, but junebug its really hard for some of them to get back up without help from outside.

Its kinda sad they seem to be good ppl.

  • At the end, he says to respect the next man or the next woman is the key to life...and unity is what we need. So how is it TOTALLY acceptable for them to sponge (which is what it is at the end of the day) off of the people that HAVE to pass them everyday and GIVE? What are the people getting in return? A good feeling? If it's all about helping, then how are they helping THEMSELVES? ARE they helping themselves?

  • I wouldn't want to live in a 4 Bedroom house in West End; I can't believe these mugs are livin' under the overpass...

  • i read what you said about white people, but where im from ive seen more homeless white people than homeless black people. ive heard a lot of white people say that most homeless people are black. but the way i see it, in todays economy it could happen to anybody.

  • this homeless guy in very smart

  • would i give him money? No

This man is letting his addiction control him and stop him from moving forward. I am watching the video and its like both of the guys u interviewed are supporting the stereotype and its sad. Me giving u money is supporting ur addiction and why would i give my money to him for that.

  • GREAT series keep em coming

  • Great Video!

    fantastic interviews.

You make also on some white ones? Junebug.

I d like to see that too.

  • nickless1980, I shot this footage ten years ago and I don't have any white homeless people because I didn't meet any at the time.... but they do exist.

If I ran into a white homeless dude, I would definitely want to interview him.

  • ah pitty

  • i would in a heartbeat he is so right about unighting

  • first and poor anthony : /
