If they could be made to where they operate with a key instead of having to incert a big pin and bend it and also made to be adjustable these would be a great police tool..But as they are now they are more or less for show and tell XD.
Poor design. Not adjustable size, people with big or small limbs can't use them. And they can be opened with a hammer tool not a key. To easy to escape. Look nice though.
I said escape, not open. The one size means that they are not adjustable. They would be very easy to escape as they will always be too big or to small for different people. They look nice but I can't see them being used for real. Even the plastic ones would hold much better.
Good point. I know the leg shackles are used in thai prisons, but I don't know about the wrist ones. I suppose it's much harder to slip them over your feet than over your hands.

Actually, you need a hammer and a chisel, so he could never free himself. I suppore they're simpler to make than rachet cuffs as well.
