actually it is a tech! it is to the discretion of the ref on the hardness of how hard acceptable and what isn't. obviously the ref felt it was too hard that it deserved a technical.

Kobe wasn't "shoving" the ball into the ref's chest. He wasn't even looking at the ref. He gave the ball to the ref and then pushed it in a little bit to move in the opposite direction. I'm sure he sincerely apologizes that the ref's feelings were hurt.

Many NBA refs nowdays have this superiority complex that shows up alot when they feel they are being undermined by players or when they feel players are giving them attitude. They have become more and more paranoid throughout the years because of the built up lack of respect they are getting from bad reffing. Refs really should not have this kind of power and taking this power away will not only help to clean the game up but also help the refs from making a fool out of themselves.
