  • @Horwitz86 The piano is good, but it holds nothing on Ella's voice.

  • The three 'people' that disliked this video know NOTHING about music. Ella you are a legend.

  • One of my favorite songs of all time ... makes me bewitched, bothered and bewildered.

  • From England - Ella the best singer I have ever heard in my time

  • This reminds me of a great jazz track called All of You.

    Similar. :)

  • i NEED the instrumental to this gorgeous gorgeous song, anyone know where i can find one?

  • I believe this is the recording from VERVE 519 804-2.

    track 3 with:

    Ella Fitzgerald (vocals)

    Paul Smith (piano)

    Barney Kessel (guitar)

    Joe Mondragon (bass)

    Alvin Stoller (drums)

  • fanfic brought me here:D

  • From UK - that is perfect singing!

Prob the Greatest singer that ever lived!

Bewitched and can see why as is a glorious vocal performance.

  • Ella knows my life. And Lorenz Hart.

  • The two people who disliked this video clearly do not understand what music is. Ella= awesomeness/wonderfulness/other positive words

  • i wander if rod Stewart listened to this perfect version of this perfect song b 4 he decided to ruin it ?

  • why wouldn't the pianist be her regular one, Tommy Flanagan?

  • utter class!

  • i could listen to this all day, and nothing else :) <3

  • This is so beautiful it hurts.

It's like when you meet someone, you're captivated by her and knots in your stomach.

  • I like the video. So Solitary and Relaxing.

  • Linda!

  • Like if Michael Mcintyre sent you here!

  • A WHOLE QUART OF BRANDY!?!? She's hardcore.

  • Incredilbe!!

Talented version of an outstanding voice OF ELLA's!!

  • i'm gonna give the one person who disliked this video the benefit of the doubt and asuume their mouse slipped just as they clicked the 'like' button. (Y) :')

  • Never have I felt in my heart the intimation that this song brings about. The delivery

is flawless by the great Ella. What else can I say, but speechless!!

  • i love this song she is so talented i wish i could have lived in this time

  • HAVE YOU PEOPLE EVEN HEARD SINATRA'S VOICE? IT'S EPIC! HE WASN'T NICKNAMED "THE VOICE" FOR NOTHING.

  • Brilliant songwriting by Rodgers and Hart, with Hart's typicaly clever, slightly melancholy lyrics. Some scintillating chord changes here in the intro: "like a daisy I'm awake"

  • i love this song

    it's beautiful :)

  • @jake11711 then go listen to that. No one tops Ella at "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered."

  • @jake11711

What do you know about jazz sweetie? You're probably 12.

  • @thatoperastar0604 And age decides what one knows about jazz? I think not.

While jake11711 does seem to be ignorant of jazz, his age has nothing to do with it.

  • @thatoperastar0604 "Jake" is reminding me of Kanye at the VMAs.

  • ella and louis made such lovely duets together :) goodness i wish jazz was still popular it's so full of raw talent <3

  • @adg135 hmm ,raw , I think that word describes it very well.

  • A voice as smooth as silk. Her love for what she sang flows out in that beautiful voice. Sublime.

  • ma che meraviglia è? sono senza parole.

  • I LOVE ELLA

  • 0 dislikes. So there is hope for music after all :)

  • helloooo ballad for musical theater program audition :D i was going to sing a song from wicked and realized i wouldnt be able to do that song without being compared to not only the original actors but everyone else that has performed it. i then went to this link that sent me to another link that lead me to this song. THANK GOD FOR THOSE LINKS i love this song :)

  • Gracias por compartir este video!

Amo a Ella, su voz es una caricia para el alma y este tema es bellísimo. Gracias!

  • Pure bliss from the heavenly Ella.

  • still my third favourite Ella song...absolutely flawless.

  • @Horwitz86. I think the piano player is Oscar Peterson

  • who is on piano here? who did the piano arrangement? this is a GREAT piano backing!! am i the only one who's hearing that this piano might be the best part of the whole song?? the song's lyrics are classicand ella is unapproachable but i have heard lots of versions of this tune and NONE like this KEYBOARD PLAYER! WHO IS IT???

  • @Horwitz86 The piano player is Paul Smith. He is truly amazing. Tickling the ivory at times.

  • @Horwitz86 yes I love it!

  • Yes, it really is a genius, his name is Oscar Peterson. :-)

"Ella at the Opera House" 1958 live album

    Personnel:

    Ella Fitzgerald - Vocal

    Oscar Peterson - Piano

    Herb Ellis - Guitar

    Ray Brown - Bass

    Jo Jones - Drums

  • @Horwitz86

I hear that too.. it's simply dessespertly sensitive and deep.. I agree with you 100% ..

it's peterson.. nat king cole style.. you can't get better than this

  • @Horwitz86 I KNOW RIGHT???? I cannot find who the hell is the pianist, sometimes I even put the song just for the piano part. ITS FREAKING AMAZING!

  • This piano arrangement is amazing i agree and of course the voice. :)

  • @Horwitz86 ... This tune is from: Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Rodgers and Hart Songbook from 1956. She is backed by a studio orchestra conducted and arranged by Buddy Bregman. This album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999, a special Grammy award established in 1973 to honor recordings that are at least twenty-five years old, and that have "qualitative or historical significance. We may never know the studio musician on piano.

  • She has that voice that can make a man's heart melt!

  • @littleXmissXwow and @11ATOR same, but i dont like katie!

  • there's no other voice like it.

ella's voice just does does something to me

  • Epic Tune :D

  • This videos going to be getting alot more views and comments soon. Katie's performing it on the X Factor (You heard it hear first)

  • @rushsav lol thats the reason why im watching it xD

  • @littleXmissXwow and me lol

  • @rushsav I feel bad because that's the only reason i'm here! Katie's great, but Ella's beautiful voice just gave me chills <3

  • @dickwaddXXX, it appears you are not such a dickwadd! ! ! !

  • @jrthomas2.... NO! ! ! ! !

  • Only Ella!

  • No video, but Richard Rogers music, Lorenz Hart's classy provocative lyrics ("vexed again, perplexed again, Thank God i can be oversexed again"), Paul Smith making 88 keys new with each verse and the sweet, exquisite, and subtle phrasing of Ella's voice. We overuse superlatives in this age, but this deserves every possible one.

  • Paul Smith is accompanying Ella on this gem of a song.

  • Ella is always the Best… Lorenz Hart is still one of the greatest lyricists - EVER!

  • "Vexed Again, Perplexed Again, Thank God I Can Be Oversexed Again".........Hell Yes Folks Just Don't Write & Sing Like This Anymore!!!!!! Thanx Lady Fitz! And You Too Richard Rodgers & Lorenz Hart.

  • Wise at last, my eyes at last, Are cutting you down to your size at last Bewitched, bothered and bewildered - no more Burned a lot, but learned a lot And now you are broke, so you earned a lot Bewitched, bothered and bewildered - no more Couldn't eat, was dispeptic Life was so hard to bear Now my heart's antiseptic Since you moved out of there Romance, finis. Your chance, finis. Those ants that invaded my pants, finis. Bewitched, bothered and bewildered - no more
  • This song still manages to be a classic although it has 'couldnt eat, was dyspeptic' as a lyric

  • perfect.

  • who's play the piano?

  • chills... everytime.

  • I started dancing with my friend today singing this, she had no idea what I was doing. XD So beautiful.

  • One of the loveliest voices that ever was....

  • Nobody did it like Ella!

  • "...since you moved down there.." This song actually made me blush. Did it ever chart? The piano dancing around the power and subtlety of her voice is perfect

  • @meeshajunk45 "The piano dancing around the power and subtlety of her voice is perfect" <--- so perfectly said!

  • @meeshajunk45 it kind of surprised me too

  • Simply one of the greatest singers of all time and always with superb musicians behind her.

  • Love those thirds in piano part 2:06-2:13!

"I'll sing to him, each spring to him"!!!

    This is fabulous!!!

  • OHHhhh Ella. Just perfect. <3 it.

  • Brilliant. Absolutely wonderful. Thank you for sharing this with us.

  • The greatest singer ever lived.

  • Thank God, I can be oversexed again

  • Sorry all, have now listened to this version right through to the end and ... there is my answser (correctly, "ants that invaded MY pants...". Thanks anyway.

  • I've loved this song for years and nobody does it better than the fabulous Ella. Politely PLEASE, does anyone know of Ella's version of this song where she sings "the ants that invaded his pants beneath"? I know for sure I heard this (on the radio) many years ago but don't know where/how to find it. Help will be much appreciated.

  • @Bridget2341 It is on the ella/songwriters hits album. I don't know the exact name but it is yellow with black writing and scetch of Ella on it. Good luck finding it. My mother bought it for me and my dog chewed it all up. Until that it was the most played cd of my enitre collection. LOL

  • @JURONO71 its called songbooks and songwriters

  • Ella is great, I love it!

There is also a version with singer Rebecca Martin from the album Middlehope.

  • It doesn't get better than this. Ella. And such a song. Who is doing this today?

  • This is truly amazing. A very gifted lady.

  • Beautiful song, beautiful voice. There`ll never be another one like Ella, thats for certain.

  • i adore Ella. i am bewitched by everything she do. Ella is a goddess!

  • i'm only 19 but i'm bewitched by her voice

  • It is from the Rodgers and Hart songbook. Just Ella and a piano--it is beyond words.

Like several of you, I doubt we'll ever see, or hear, another like her. Thank god we have the records.

  • @yahwhous Don't forget the upright bass and drums. But, I understand your point. So simple and breath taking.

  • @rjvsmb Yes, you are right--piano, bass and drums, but so understated, letting Fitzgerald shine instead of getting in the way. Sublime.

  • my heart just broke... will there ever be another that can even stand amongst this sort of talent?

  • I'm afraid there never will be.

  • @jrthomas2 you should check out Samuel Barnett's version. it made me cry. truly.

  • There will never again be a voice with the perfect pitch and clarity of Ella's, and this song is quintessential Ella...so sultry and dreamy.

  • Well, it might be on several things but I know it's on The Best of the Song Books.

  • what a wonderful recording. from which album is this one? thank you so much for posting it! greetings from germany, Doris

  • Beautiful song.....reminds me of my boyfriend.

  • Just Magic.....pure magic....nice post
