I have no idea how Tony and others get away with providing marriage counseling when he is not formally trained and licensed in it. You have to be licensed in every state to provide psychotherapy and marriage counseling, and I don't know why the governing authorities don't stop this. He has learnt some fantastic stuff through life and probably even more by living through a divorce for himself. He shares what he learns and helps a huge amount of people. Maybe the lesson we can learn is to listen and see if he makes sense. Gandhi said some great stuff. His life appears to have been not quite what he was preaching. If it makes sense we can still benefit ourselves. x

I have no idea how Tony and others get away with providing marriage counseling when he is not formally trained and licensed in it. You have to be licensed in every state to provide psychotherapy and marriage counseling, and I don't know why the governing authorities don't stop this. I'm not saying he's not doing a good job, but it's ILLEGAL, in the same way an unlicensed person providing hair cutting, or dental hygiene services is.

[2] I believe in free trade: anyone is allowed to offer any service and the purchaser must decide - knowing whether the person is or is not licensed - to take it up or refuse. @S2Cents Hi. Some people don't change because they choose not to. Simple as that. If you believe you cannot change, then there's no one that will change your mind. Change comes from within. It's a conscious decision. You have to want to change.To think that you have no control over an outcome because of the way your personality was shaped is absurd. We're not robots. We have conscious control over our thoughts and actions every single day. Your mind has more power than you give it credit for.

@S2Cents I see where you're coming from but all those are examples of natural born talent. They have little to do with personality. You can be talented, succesful and still be introverted. It makes very little difference. We each have strengths and weaknesses to be sure. And yes I am familiar with Carl Jung and his work. That being said I am also familiar with B.F. Skinner also. There are plenty of examples of people who have turned their lives around for the better. How would you explain that?

The decision to work hard is a concious decision and can be translated into change if that was not apart of your habbits. Like I said before, change CAN happen but it comes from within. You have to want to. If you believe you can't then well, you won't. I can tell you from experience that the mind is a very powerful tool when used properly. I think you underestimate the power of the mind a little too much. IMO

@S2Cents Agree to an extent but note that Robbins in one tape or another has clarified there are limits. e.g. he notes that he wanted to be a rock star but didn't work out. He wanted to be a football player but "lacked talent" and gave up. He then focused on WHY he wanted this = impact, the roar of the crowd, excitement etc. = just what he ended up doing in his SEMINARS. hence many ways develop the same temperament and reach similar goals + if u 'just' want 2 be a housewife thats cool w him

Robbins used Eriksonian HYPNOSIS and NLP to temporarily make them feel "in love" again, but that doesn't last. You can put a person in a state of love & temporarily hypnotize them to create the appearance that their problem is "solved", but then after they go back to living with each other 24 hours a day, they will start fighting again. All they have done is prolong the inevitable. If they don't click naturally, they will end up getting divorced.
BTW, Robbins OWN MARRIAGE ENDED IN DIVORCE!!

Tony Robbins divorced because he and his wife decided it was a values shift that each felt uncomprimising. Humen beings have that right, you know? you lose identity WHEN you get married. and lets face it, marriage is nothin but a 3rd party contract between you and the state. that union lasts a "time frame" no more. after that ,it become unnatural due to human nature. can you make it work? sure, but youre hammering a square peg in a round hole. not so natural is it... that's reality, high divorce rates and public opinion regarding non marriage does not lie...
