  • dvorak... what a guy!!!

  • Passionate work--very folksy and brilliantly orchestrated--feel like have a Pilsner and kielbasa whenever I hear it!!! Dvorak at his best--and that is very fine indeed!!

  • 1:38

Looks more like he's about to go harry potter than conduct :D

  • @MrAgentCooki lol

  • I love this song!

  • i wish more people knew about this man and his works

  • @MrRomanrules He lived w/ some relatives in Spillville, IA, back in 1893. Spillville was a Czech-founded community. His "New World Symphony" comes from that period.

  • My favorite section is 3:25-5:00. But from 4:45-5:09 makes me want want to cry. Can you imagine laying in a field of tall grass with a friend or loved one on a warm summers day wind blowing the grass softly. With Carnival Overture playing on a vintage suitcase record player, playing exactly 4:45-5:09 over and over :)

  • Kubelik is easily one of my favourite conductors for this piece. Amazing.

  • Bravo Maestro Kubelik!!

  • Great Timpanni. That's the way it should be played. This overture is almost orgasmic and gives the lie to the stereotype of classical music being boring. Every instrument in the orchestra gets a good workout in this one. Dvorak must be ranked among the great composers for his use of folk melodies, harmonies and the terriffic instrumentation of his orchestral works. (I know this is a subjective opinion. If you disagree, I'll not argue. I don't know much about music, but I know what I like.)

  • @Tannenberg71410 Every piece by Dvorak gives lie to the stereotype of Classical music being boring ;)

  • it is said that this song can heel depression

  • Kubelik is amazing!

  • hallo, I think this orchestra is Bavaria Radio Orchestra, not Berlin Phil.

  • Thanks, a DGG recording form 1976?
