Wow, this is really helpful! I am an old scrapper and I made my first junk steam punk art journal. Thanks so much, and know that even a year later, people are watching your new stuff and then going back to learn from the beginning, too! Thanks for remembering that not everyone is an artist or familiar with all the products... but we want to be!!
Thank you for a fantastic video! I am new to art journaling and painting and your video answered A LOT of my questions. I have watched MANY videos in these last few months and yours are the best so far! Thanks again!!
@Luise22 Yes, I completely agree. I was thinking fluid, but say glaze. I apologize! In other video's I do correct this. Thanks so much for watching. Much Love
I'm a newbie & want to start a journal art soon, but I try hard to maintain the supplies my best, so I don't stuck right in the midle whilst having fun.
The question is:
what's the ALTERNATiVE for GESSO ???
I'm an asian, and not sure what's "gesso" called in the place I live (maybe there's sort of gesso, only different call for it, but just in case..)
hope I could get help from here
thankyou so much for the vid and for any help from anyone :)
Thank you so much for all of your beginner vids. After watching your vids, I started my first art journal. It is nice to have a creative outlet that is 'no rules'. You are very inspiring, genuine, and informative. Keep of the great work.
I looved this tutorial!!!!! I am trying to lean more about how, what I need & what to buy to start my 1st art journal & you have such great easy to follow answers. THANK YOU!!! tfs
@KARLAS001 Thanks so much for the wonderful feedback Karla!! I'm enjoying sharing what I've learned along the way. So happy to hear it has helped you!
Great tutorial, thanks so much for teaching us about the different paints. I had never seen the difference betrween gesso and no-gesso. Love the credit card technic.
Great video showing the different paints. It nice to see someone really explain how great Golden paints are and how good supplies give you good results, so many others go on about craft paint but I always like the good paints so much more.
i love painting and i love paper crafting...this is wonderful! thank you for sharing the differences between the different acrylic paints. it's so helpful! the credit card technique reminds me of oil painting with the knife. that's on my list of things to learn ;p'. thank you again for sharing this with us! *hugs* steph :)
This is awesome Paula! Love how you did the side-by-side comparison. I definitely have to try some of the golden blaze.... I love the smooth texture. Great tip on the credit card. What brand brushes do you use? What's the best brush to use for applying gesso and acrylic paints? I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am that you are doing these vids! THANKS so much!!! :-) hugs, Arlene
@mybutterflykisses12 I can't believe I didn't answer this! OMG! As for brushes, all I've been using so far are the Royal packaged brand from Mike's. I have bought a few more expensive ones here and there, but I'd rather be buying paint. hehehe
I like nylon bristles for gesso and paint, but you may like the more "rough" brushes. ;) All in the effect you are going for.
yay! love that we are going to do this page together! and the information in part one was great with the gesso or non- gesso stuff. i guess i will be using more gesso now. have a great day!
Thanks for sharing all you know !you are great at teaching !

When you talk about a "glaze" it seems you are referring to the acrylic fluid? A bit confusing because these are not the same thing...
