@Damien333 - its a repetition drill to embed the hip movement required into the muscle memory, its not an isolation drill aimed at finishing the sub. Position then submission.
This is a very simple and GREAT routine. A lot of schools don't emphasize the importance of repetition drills until it's absolute muscle memory. It should be instictive! It's one of the reasons why ROY DEAN BJJ, Alliance and a select few others are among my absolute favorites and are so successful.
Good Hip movement, but I have a question. Should'nt you knock your opponent's hands down to the sides so it's easier to bring the leg over his head? The way he's postured up it would seem like it's difficult to land that oma plata that way. Just wondering about that.
Thanks for the question. This drill is designed more for abdominal and core strength, less for an actual omoplata attack. However, once you have developed advanced hip mobility and core strength you'll be able to land omoplatas from open positions like this. Check our official youtube page for a detailed omoplata set-up.
all right

I'd used to use omoplata whenever triangle choke fails. It's easy to do from that position. I need to test that style!

nice drill man..

good drill. I never do an omoplata that way though. I'm a 10th planet practitioner, so the omoplata is set from the rubber guard instead.
