so now i found out that the homeless man was played by the yugoslav legendary film and theatre actor and director, Rade Serbedzija.....never in a million years would i notice...
@slaidification I agree. If not for Falcone's words, Bruce might end up becoming a Joker-ish socialite who already own half of Gotham. Now that's a depressing thought.
when bruce looks to the docks and just stares and runs, when i saw this in theaters that was a scene that impacted me, everyone has problems and sometimes i just stare beyond and want to keep on running.
While Bruce's parents getting shot was the biggest reason Bruce became Batman, I think this scene was really the final straw (movie wise) Bruce confronts corruption and finds out just how bad it really is, this guys threatning to blow his head off despite the place being filled with cops, judges and people of congress. Bruce see's that average efforts are futile in stopping corruption, it's going to take something more drastic.
@truecinema, I'm suprised more people don't see that in this scene. One of the most powerful aspects of Begins and Knight is that Batman is justified, both movies establish that Gotham really does need someone like Batman to get things done. Like you said that whats makes them more than superhero movies.
@TheDalinkwent Yes. But because it draws its material from a popular comic book series with a huge fanbase, people are only drawn in by the fact that it's Batman, and as the story continues, they primarily want to see more of his villains. The real villain of this trilogy is organized crime and corruption, and the villains from the comics (Joker, Bane, Ra's) are only meant to represent the setbacks that arise from successfully challenging it.
Hope Lucius gets shot in the face after four minutes...he was done!He walked out!Morgan Freeman is terrible....half the cast is from the two previous, the other half is from Inception where only Cotilliard got to act...n Hathaway.Thats the cast, the most chicken possible..I wanted to want to watch TDKR but..Nolan just cast safe bets.Oh,reusing,is it? Wellreuse Pantolianoor Pearce from Memento then....sell-out. From the four great villains in the first to the one in the last to..Hardy with a mask.
If losing both your parents at age of 6 or 7 is not "the ugly side of life," then nothing is. ALl the money he inherited didn't mean squat--you're still a ruined person if you go through such a tragedy.
Hey guys if you want I acted this scene out on my youtube channel and Id love to hear what you guys have to say. So when you get the chance check out my video :)
@Regenmacher175 Rachel was never a significant part of the Batman Mythos. Her death therefore didn't really injure it. By comparison, Batman without Alfred is nigh unthinkable (and only seen in "future" stories when Batman is retired such as Batman Beyond). While he could be put in danger, he won't die (not unless Nolan intends his last Batman film to be the last in his Batman "universe" and that any later films will have to restart everything again).
@Ranillon but no love interest of Bruce wayne has died on-screen before Nolan made that decision. Since he killed off Two-face (who is one of batman's biggest foes) there's no reason for him not to kill alfred if they reboot batman after The Dark Knight Rises, as they said they would. He could also decide to kill batman, which would be somethng never done on-screen. Chris Nolan makes the decisions and from what i've seen so far there's no limits to how far he'll go.
@Regenmacher175 Well, as I mentioned, if Nolan considers these movies his own personal "Batman dimension" that ultimately owes nothing to the overall mythos or to any future movies, then sure anything goes. And, it could be great as well. But, I'm not convinced it would necessarily be "Batman."
@Ranillon it's "his" batman. that's what makes me angry every time people complain about the voice. If "his" version of batman talks like that it's his choice. Noone has ONE RIGHT version of batman but I respect "his" interpretation of the character like everyone else's. If alfred dying is such a big problem to you then that's YOUR opinion ONLY.
@Regenmacher175 There should be some limits - Batman is an icon and should NOT be considered Nolan's to do -WHATEVER- he wants. If he turned Batman into, say, a sadistic villain I think Nolan should and would be condemned -- just as if some director did a movie where Churchill was a secret Nazi or Spiderman a pedophile. Some lines shouldn't be crossed -- and that is not just "opinion." I don't think Nolan would actually do anything so bad, of course, but the principle is what matters here.
@saintsknight986 i Disagree, bruce waynes parents being killed in front of him was the true culprit, he always had the hate of crime in him but falcone just let him off the leash
I dunno why people thought Begins was boring....clearly they don't (or can't) appreciate in-depth Character Development and only care about action...Batman is more about the psychological factors with the characters over the action....
@thenacanoroc In depth character develoment? LOL! Action and a legendary performance by Heath Ledger is what made The Dark Knight so great. There weren't any decent performances in BB and the plot was simple as hell.
@thenacanoroc I'm not a troll, I'm saying what I think. Just because you live in a PC world doesn't mean I'm not allowed to say what I think. The fact is TDK made a $1 billion worldwide compared to BBs $300 million. Reviews were far more favourable towards TDK than BB.
@themenaceanish That doesn't prove that the Dark Knight was a better movie, it just means it was hyped up more, and so many people loved Batman Begins that they wanted to see a sequel. Analogously speaking, the Hangover made a shitton of money and was raved as one of the funniest movies of the year when in fact it was one of the most unoriginal, unfunny, overrated movies of all time. I still don't know how it did so well.
@themenaceanish ahhh gotta love shallow pathetic fucked-in-the-head kids these days. what's going to be even funnier is when this kid tries to respond to me even though I have him blocked now.
'just cause ur mommy and daddy got shot, u think u knw abt the ugly side of life - u hv never tasted desperate...' this remark is quite true, there are people who hv gone through worse.
@davedirector7 Just because I'm not a director doesn't mean I can't have an opinion. This movie was sooo boring. TDK owned this movie. Heath Ledger was AWESOME!

What this series is showing is that Gotham is so far gone is that it need Batman to shock itself out of it's worm-ridden corrupt state.
It needed someone with nothing to lose.
