Hi Brian, Can you do a Tutorial of nlite from scratch so you go all through the stages of streamlining a Genuine copy of Win XP to a slimmed down version please. Most tutorial go too fast and skip half of it as they have already done it previously. This is no help to someone who is stuck like me.
Is there another program that you can use other than DP_BASE ecause it does not support 64bit, and everytime I try to point it toward the location it does not find it says select a valid location and wont select my folder.
the only problem with the driverpacks integration is it adds an unattended portion to the winnt.sif file to get round the unsigned drivers in the packs. This prevents the disk from being used repair installs selecting the location and other goodies.
If the unattended additions are removed from the WINNT.sif file before you use nlite to make the iso file it still works as it did before.
@kledder2 .. Why is slip streaming a bad idea. How else can you add mass storage drivers to Windows 2003 server and Windows XP so it can recognize SATA, and RAID controller drivers. I guess you can just hit F6 at while installing, but what happens when you don't have a floppy drive, Microsoft setup option does not let you select a USB flash drive to install the drivers from.
It's a bad idea to use Windows xp and Vista in this time also. I you don't want to pay for win7 just use linux. I'm pretty sure that there are ways that you can boot from a usb device. Unless you are using a prehistoric mobo that is.
So what your saying is don't use Microsoft Operating Systems. Now if you prefer to use Linux that is your choice. Microsoft does not let you run a live version, unless you use PE, or Barts PE, or Ultimate Boot CD for windows and you can make a bootable USB version of PE. The f6 option on setup is to add third party drivers so the Operating System installer can detect the mass storage controller. On XP or Windows 2007 server, Microsoft did not give a user an option to select USB.

Great videos. I really like how you talk in the video and explain things, unlike many others that just use notepad to write what to do.
