  • Love her so much! Whatever happened to her?

  • The woman who gave Pocahontas the power to paint the colours of the wind. Sublime.

  • Love Judy!!! Pocahontas

  • Jennifer Love Hewitt's GRAND MOTHER

  • Effortless. Amazing

  • I tink she'd make a great Fantine. I love Ruthie and Lea in the role, as well.

  • @prue6967 She did briefly play Fantine in the 2006 revival.

  • @HomestarYoshi Really? Wow.

  • Nice voice, but she cannot touch Lea Salonga's dramatic force.

  • What a gift and a beauty.

  • sing colors of the wind:)

  • Marvin! :) :)

  • HUH!!!!!!!

    IT'S POCAHONTAS!

  • @ ThreePeopleAreDead & @ UndercoverCracker I beg to disagree. I believe it's the other way around. Judy Kuhn has a better voice range than Lea Salonga.. Lea is a great singer and performer though, no doubt about that, but Lea tends to belt out in order to to reach a high pitch and I prefer someone who can sing with minimum effort just like Judy Kuhn and Linzi Hateley.

  • @kuntrabida and thus, those who can belt easily have no power in their voice. that's why lea in 25th LIS MIS O2 ARENA

  • this is wonderful!!! it's pocahontas singing antother beautiful song!! i really love this!

  • "Chess" was a breakthrough show geared to break the icy lock of the pernicious Cold War, three years into its name in 1988. Seeing President and First Lady Reagan in the audience is moving, especially given the current tenor of the geopolitical arena. I wonder what he would have to say about things if he were still alive. He was a Republican, but he was a great leader and a good man.

  • I watch this, and all I see is Pocahontas.

  • Wow...Pocahontas indeed. Beautiful- her voice is the strongest I have heard singing this song. Amazing.

  • she looks awesome

  • I'd like to see how Judy Garland might've sang this, maybe in a slightly lower key on the higher parts. XD Who agrees with me? Watch her sing Old Man River before you comment back, especially the end of it.

  • Les Miser.... awble? Really?

  • @JordanAshleyG I kind of died when he pronounced it this way.

  • Sorry Pocahontas, but I'm gonna have to give the gold to Princess Jasmine for this song. Good effort though.

  • @ThreePeopleAreDead Judy has a prettier voice but Lea has a better range and power.

  • Ruthie Henshall made 309 You-tube accounts to dislike this video!

  • 309 are stupid..cause this my friends it's what's been called perfection! BRAVA judy khun you are one of the best belters ever

  • That's Marvin Hamlisch that introduces her and plays the piano. I'm shocked he made that mispronunciation.

  • LES ......WHAT DID HE SAY????

  • @MrJoelmed lmao!

  • @MrJoelmed Les... *suddenly speeds up* miserarrbbbbles *jiggles chin*

  • she would've done so much better if she wasn't so nervous you can see it on her face that she was thinking of all the technicalities and slowly started getting into all the emotion all in all she was good.

  • She can have a little more passion in her voice.

  • The best version i have heard of this song!!! Her voice is soft even if she is singing the strong notes....:) I just love her as Pocahontas too;)

  • She looks kind of like Kristen Stewart, or Kristen Stewart looks kind of like Judy Kuhn.

  • close your eyes, and Pocahontas is singing Les Miz.

  • @Voodooxgypsy Excuse me..Excuseme..but your comment is..is..it's too beautiful. Thank you for that. Beautiful comment.

  • @Voodooxgypsy there's a reason for that.... ;)

  • why 300 dislikes? i dont understand

  • Wow! 1,475,610 views! Now I know why I can't stop hearing minds from blowing all around me.

  • i absolutely love her voice:) it sounds so natural, and her range is incredible

  • Beautiful Judy, you're voice is a dream. J

  • @Vovits Before you start criticizing other people perhaps you should learn proper grammar. You'll sound like less of a dumbass.

  • @aeiq1219 You have GOT to lay off the acid, dude.

  • @KaiserBecks Listen to "Colors of the Wind" and learn the folly of your words.

  • @ShaiHuludisCool Like I said: she might be great at singing other songs, but she's not made for this one.

  • @bigttim1 Sounds like bigttim1 has issues...did your mother spank your thighs with cold cuts and shove umbrellas up your ass?

  • Comment removed

  • @bigttim1 So...what you're saying is the reason you wrote a hate-filled comment about Judy Kuhn months ago is because you shagged my mom up the ass just now? You need help ASAP.

  • Comment removed

  • @bigttim1 But you said that you JUST did, indicating that you did it yesterday sometime. You just can't get your story straight, can you?

  • @SatenWonton "now Reagan has killed the dream i dreamed....." Haha! Imagine if she had actually sung that as the last line! She's probably get her ass kicked out!

  • Is it just me or does she have a beautiful speaking voice as well as a beautiful singing voice?

  • Gorgeous woman with a gorgeous voice.

  • I can sing this much better than Judy, forget Ruthie. And, yes, I'll post a clip when my ordered zoom H2 gets shipped. (It takes 20 days apparently).

  • @RanjitMorey Yeah, you do that.

  • Ruthie Henshall is the Boss. Period.

  • Did anyone else cringe at the way he pronounced "Les Miserables"?

  • @nerdysinger Yeah he was all like

    "Les Miserabllllleeeuuuhhhhb..zzzzzz"

  • @nerdysinger i wanted to punch him.

  • vocally awesome. acting kind of blah. but excellent vocals wow

  • @aroggenbuck why not?

  • Im sorry, but susan boyle is better ;-)

  • @baniello1 ...no

  • @baniello1 Actually no, she's not.

  • That pianist didn't do her justice.

  • @roaringbee

which pianist....? One of them is Marvin Hamlisch...I don't think he speaks much French...

  • this deserves much more views :O

  • Her voice is so much better that Ruthie's.

  • perfect, her version is the best.

  • I really would love to see what Beyonce'd do with this song. Judy Kuhn's is beautiful, but I'd just like to hear a different style's take on it

  • I like Randy Graff's version; she was original Fantine in New York.

Hear her on Johnny Carson show from late '80s...

  • wonderful performance! very very difficult song to sing! wonderful!

  • Great performance... but I don't feel it...

  • Better than Elane Page. Judy, you have done so well. I would love to see more of you. and you are so pretty and you got a great personality. People like you.

    XXXX

  • I like how Elain paige sings this song :$

  • Of course... Their voices are very different.

  • There's good reason she was never cast to sing this song. She's leagues off of Ruthie, Lea, or any other myriad singers I've heard sing this song. She can sing, but hugely lacks the emotional component of the song.

  • @Faenya agree, but even Ruthie is league off of Lea, sorry I compared their singing, but I agree too that Judy's singing lacks emotion and quite lower key.

  • wow, its as good as the original. but you look much better than all the others who sang that song before. so, well done. i got u into my favorites.

  • That is soooo beautiful! She is very good! She has a fantastic voice, even though I think Susan Boyle has a beautiful way to sing this song as well, but this is one of the most beautiful songs I heard ever with Judy!!

  • ronald reagan is the devil.

  • This is the same girl that played Cosette in the 10th Anniversary. She was horrible as Cosette. Thankfully Marius saved the songs when she couldn't hold her notes. Ruthie Henshall is head and shoulders above her. She still can't hold notes. It's completely monotone. and she's singing the bottom half of the notes which is quite painful to listen to.

  • @hello12346587 Excuse me, but Judy Kuhn was the original Cosette on Broadway. She was cast for a reason; because she's extremely talented. It's easy to be negative when you're sitting at a computer, but I'd like to see you perform in front of the President of the United States and see if you don't get a little nervous!

  • @Harrassmentmonkey sorry but you must mean she is the original 'Fantine". Cosette is Fantine's daughter.

  • @Harrassmentmonkey You are right! Judy was indeed the original Cosette! The song threw me off, my apologies.

  • @hello12346587 Hey boner, ever heard "Colors of the Wind"? Well that's her.

  • @hello12346587 these kinds of comments prove that the Internet should be restricted. Couldn't hold her notes? She originated the part of Cosette and is recognized as one of the best singers ever to be on Broadway.

  • She has a lovely voice, and as someone has already pointed out, she's better than the overrated Ruthie Henshall.

  • yay! marvin hamlisch! i sang with him in pittsburgh this past year.

  • She killed Pocahontas's Colours of the Wind!!!!! I love her version the most!

  • JUDY KUHN! Great voice! Great vocal interpretation! Judy is a leading lady Broadway Singer! Her Duet with Larry Kert, singing "Tonight" is truly beautiful!

I like this version of "I Dreamed A Dream," and Judy has matured vocally since the late 1990's! She is now an even better singer than in this video, and that means terrific!

  • she makes susan boyle so mediocre.

  • @averycynicalguy And yet Ruthie's even better.

  • @mezzer99 What's funny is that when Judy did this performance Ruthie was only about 16 XD

  • I think she would've been better off as Fantine than Cosette in the 10th anniversary concert.

  • @jp3813 butt Ruthie Henshall's performance as Fantine was mind-blowing. It was so beautiful, her singing brought me to tears. I think Judy could've been a really good Fantine, but she's just not as good as Ruthie Henshall.

  • @mushy58mushy I didn't say she would've been better than Ruthie as Fantine. I just didn't like her that much as Cosette. Perhaps someone like Sarah Brightman would've had more vocal chemistry w/ Michael Ball.

  • @mushy58mushy Puh-leez! Ruthie Henshall is such an overrated performer. Her acting at the 10th anniversary was very underwhelming, and her voice is so ugly and scratchy that is sounds like it's coming from the grave!

  • Stunning. I've heard many versions of this, mostly the Original Broadway recording. That one I think totally embodies the character and despair. The difference between that and this performance is that in Judy's she hits the note without a seam and it's all warm and musical. She doesn't shout at all yet still gets the power and emotion.

  • pocohontas!

  • There were few back in those days who could SING as well as she can, and even fewer who could fill their singing with all the emotion needed. She could easily fill an auditorium without amplification - just look at how far away she holds the mic and it still can't handle the really loud notes. Whether you like her or not is a matter of taste but there is no disputing when it comes to the overall abilities she brings to it. Very few could & can match that. Period.

  • Let us forget Susan for while. She was never trained. She picks it up by sound. We understand she is not professional, however she has worked to do what she did. Judy is wonderful and so are many others. It really all adds up to what voice and sound appeal to you

  • fabulous!!!! earnest, even, not over-dramatized, and overall technically proficient!!!!!!

  • amazing voice..

  • OMFG!!!

  • Hey, it's a classy Kristen Stewart!!!

  • @chad10065 I see the resemblance, but Judy doesn't look like she's stoned 24/7.

  • amazing amazing amazing

    beautiful

    incredible

    heavenly

    i'm running out of adjectives...

love her because of Pocahontas :)

  • my question to 301 dislikers.....what exactly you dont like in this performance ?

  • @dimondcage Maybe they didn't like the fact that the guy in the beginning mispronounced "miserables".

  • From Rags to riches lol

  • She is soooo amazing playong cosette and fantine...Bravo Ms. Judy...You're such a wonderful singer....

  • susan boyle is a particular singer/old woman who has good voice. but i don't think it is proper to compare her with professional singers, for what they try to express is different. susan boyle show her voice while professional singers put stress on emotion.

  • @hsupeiwei I disagree. Most professional singers know how to actually sing. Judy Kuhn knows how to sing. She has a vocal performance degree from a conservatory. She has flawless technique, so when she performs, it is a lot about about her showing her voice, as she actually has a voice to show. She's phenomenal. End of story. On the technical and emotional standpoint, Susan Boyle is not even close to being on the same league with someone like Judy Kuhn, because she does not have the chops.

  • @musichopecollege13 i didn't say professional singers don't know how to sing.i mean all professional singers have good voice, so they put stress on emotioin. while no one cares susan's emotional expressions because she just "sing" this song on a tv show. i love judy, but she is a professional singer perforems this song, not in a tv show. it is not proper to compare them.

  • @hsupeiwei I think it is proper to compare them. Judy Kuhn is a phenomenal singer and actress. Susan Boyle is not. I'm sorry I disagreed with you in particular, but I'm really sick of people commenting on Susan Boyle's supposed "singing prowess", when in fact she's just mediocre. People clearly have no idea what they are talking about when they say Boyle's performance is better than singers like Salonga or Kuhn. I've never commented before about my annoyance with this, but it got overwhelming.

  • @musichopecollege13 actually, i think i was clearly misunderstood. i just said they were in different league so they shouldn't be compared. i didn't say which one is better or worse.Judy Kuhn is a phenomenal singer and actress. Susan Boyle is not.==> they were in different league, why do you constantly coompare them. if judy go to Britains Got Talent, it is bizzar.

  • both in the way that I think susan boyle is the best , even she has a special style to sing this song , a hollow view of her eyes and tragic sound to express the meaning of the end of her dream , but it's not really touch in my heart . However , she is also a good singer. As for susan , Listening her performance will make me in tears.

  • amazing but not as good as ruthie henshall..

  • i keep picturing pocahontas singing this and then i see her face and smile. such a wonderful voice.

  • what is she made of? how heavenly...why do I even try to write..I'm speechless

  • @MrHannes38 or elaine paige... sarah brightman, so many better vocalists than susan boyle in my opinion

  • Chills all over!

  • How is she not the lead in every Broadway show and movie musical?

  • this is so brilliant.....

you can feel the true meaning of this song from her voice, her eyes....

  • Brilliant and beautiful voice!!!

  • Holy crap I've heard her sing many many things but I never knew she had... THIS... in her.

  • She did the voice of Pocahontas. =D

  • She's got a great voice.

  • Wow... I'm impressed. and 296 people must have had nightmares!

  • Wow... I'm impressed.

  • i like Judy Kuhn.. such poise

  • One of the best musical theatre voices EVER! Just amazing!

  • When I look away from the video and just listen to her singinging, all i can picture is Pocahontas

  • @kingelder2 hahahaha so true

  • You could tell the entire time she was like "SLOW DOWN IDIOT."

  • First time watching this one.....I agree with some of you - the accompaniment is way too fast, but Judy handles it like a champ. Judy and Lea are a couple of my favorite Broadway singers. Sometimes it's not about how you sing the song, but the delivery in which you sing it makes all the difference in the world. Nothing is better than watching folks completely committed to their craft and delivering a level of emotion that only the character understands, but we get the luxury of wondering.

  • the accompaniment is too fast! noooo!!!

  • All I can hear is Pocahontas.

  • @acapps2 HAHAHAH i cant hear it =(

  • Pocahontas!

  • NOTICE THAT HER MIC IS UNUSUALLY FAR FROM HER MOUTH.. IT MEANS THAT HER VOICE IS FULL OF INTENSITY, FULL OF SOUL AND EMOTIONS!! LIKE HER ;))

  • I moved to New Jersey when Le Miz came to New York in 1986. I learned from my realtor saying that Colm Wilkinson came to find a home for him to star in that musical. I loved the show so much then. And I love this special show by Juy at Whitehouse. Now USS Ronald Reagan is heading home to San Diego after finishing its mission to save Japan. I have written my thanks to all Americans in my column in Japanese. Thank you Mr. President again. Eijiro Odagiri

  • susan is simple love and god sent angel...inspiration to our dreams that woman made me cry when i watch britain got talent....i was overwhelm....there was one particular girl in the audience that roll her eyes in a disgusting way...i wasn's expecting that violin voice myself. nevid

  • susan boyle is all love...i think god sent her on that britian got talent show. every body was expecting all jokes ..you should see the expression on people faces....but then she sing i cried my eyes out....i can't recall the last time i cry. susan is god sent..she's all loved...angel sent from above. so this is not about competition but susan is an inspiration to our dreams.

  • Judy Kuhn is amazing! This is absolutely beautiful! <3 :)

  • layo ra kaayo ni ni leah salonga. poor facial expression pa jud....

  • She starts joking around and smiling, but once she begins to sing you can see her go into this mood of sadness and sorrow. You can hear it indefinitely in her voice too, I think it's amazing to see a singer convey so much emotion.

  • hey it's the reagans! regans? it's ronald!

  • weird to think this is Pocahontas.

  • best I've seen on the net of this song.

  • Wonderful rendition of this very special song from Les Miserable. I still recall seeing this musical in 1986 in New York. A powerful musical. Nice to see the smiling faces of Ronald and Nancy Reagan.

  • Song starts at @0:56

  • I like this version, she has a very beautiful soft voice. It is sung with a sweet peculiarity.

  • Haha....I thought of Jim Carrey too XD....They look alike so much ><

Well....Her singing is good, but this is still the second best versio..I still prefer the original one...

  • 288 people are justin bieber's fans

  • Is it just me, or does she seem to breathe just a little bit too obviously...?

  • 288 people who dislike this must be def. this is the most beautiful version ever.

  • Delightful and clean voice. Sorry to say the back ground music was very nasty and at best tin toned

  • @tinroofbusted It's called a piano. I know, crazy right?

  • @happymand You know what happymand, I just adjusted my sound card from my computer, I am totally wrong. The music matches well with the singer. How emberassing for me, Thanks for the heads up. Much better now.

  • Judy Kuhn does a great job here. Not quite the legendary Patti Lupone, but I should say better than the overrated Ruthie Henshall (supposedly the "best" Fantine in Les Miz-- until Lea Salonga came along in the 25th anniversary --> now, that's the real spectacular Fantine!).

  • ...and chess....fab

  • Great version! Does anyone know if it's available for purchase?

  • All I could think of while listening to this was Pocahontas... Loved it, but just.... Pocahontas is singing Les Miserables lol Don't hate me for thinking that or say "no sh*t Sherlock"!

  • @XxXDisneyPimpetteXxX I keep thinking the same thing. Luckily, even though Pocahontas is far from being my favorite Disney movie, they gave her a voice actress with incredible talent! This is a truly beautiful performance!

  • Why is everyone comparing Judy Kuhn to Susan Boyle? Judy Kuhn has a beautiful voice, and Susan Boyle has a beautiful voice. But their voices are different, they sing in different ways, and if you can't appreciate the differences in their musical styles, then shame on you. Shame on you.

  • @kasumi421 The fact that Susan Boyle is famous is amazing! Her performance on BGT was incredible and someone gave me her CD which is great!! They are both amazing singers!

  • MizzSmileey, that is possibly the stupidest comment I have ever read. Talent is the issue, not how someone got discovered. Susan Boyle is famous because her voice, hidden for 47 years, is truly unique. Big, powerful and rich, she sounds like no one else. That is what makes a star, from Garland to Streisand to Elvis to Elton John...they sing in a way that moves people and stands out. Of course no one expected her to "sing like that"....that's the point. NO ONE sings like that..

  • @ericscam2

    Agreed! Finally someone gets it.

  • Suddenly I saw and thought of Jim Carrey... anyone else?

  • @ericscam2 susan boyle shouldnt even be famous. the only reason shes famous is because everyone never expected someone like her to sing like that.
