  • This is an awesome and inspirational tutorial!

  • @Timetraveller2208 thanks, im glad you like it..i hope it helps

  • Alright!

  • @countparas i hope it helped you out

  • dude have you heard of After Effects... make life easier and use that instead

  • @natorioussbengi DUDE i have after effects among many other programs.. But many people dont have after effects. This is for those people who cant afford the money to get after effects. Besides one should know how to do some things more ways then just one.

  • @bedlum47o7 aha u mke a good point however which is the best among them

  • @natorioussbengi Both are very good. after effect needs to be done if your going to go beyond that and add in effects that will overlap the matte. so in that case id say you need A.E. I have used both ways myself and as long as the matte is clean and done right to be honest its hard to tell. be glad we dont have to do it the old way.... panting on glass and putting that in front of the scene and filming it right there... (smiles)

  • @bedlum47o7 hey wat can i say its the 21st century..now we got computors so long glass paintin :)

  • Wow! Thank you very much for posting this tutorial. I tried this basic idea but mine didn't work but you made it a lot clearer. I think I will be able to do matte paintings much better now. Thanks again.

  • @biffmercury glad this helped someone. im so happy it has helped you

  • tutorial is awesome, best on youtube, but thats also the problem. theres no other tutorials like this on youtube. and this really doesn't explain it all to beginners (not beginners in the programs but beginners to matte painting) but thanks anyway it still was a big help =)

  • @StupidVids2009 well what does this not explain... what is missing? tell me and ill fix that.

  • @bedlum47o7 well like you said, it was very rough. that was the problem for me. the main problem is that i cant really see what you are clicking so it's hard for me to follow along. specifically at: 8:52 you cut to a different part and i don't know how u did that.

  • @StupidVids2009 at *:52. that was the matte in its done form. what i clicked off was the live video. this of is like section at a theater and you have center seat. the back ground is always the raw video. then you add in the elements in front of the raw video. so at 8:52 that was the matte itself all adjusted and ready to be saved. dose that clear that up a bit for you

  • @bedlum47o7 yeah thx man

  • hey you should use camtasia studio cuz i can bearily see what you're doing [=[

  • @StupidVids2009 I should have hi-lighted my pointer so you could see better. however i do talk enough hat you can still understand.

  • Lol, nice but it needs some colour correction.

  • This was NOT on color correction, just the idea of how to do this effect. I would have done more to make it complete like making the flag move and making it a blue sky with clouds and birds. i would have also made the left side go further down to cover up the last houses on the end. again this was just on the idea behind adding in a matte.

  • @bedlum47o7

Dude take it easy, I was just saying...

Not like I wanted to offend you...

  • I was not offend at all. im just used to someone picking out something that had nothing to do with what i was explaining about. dont worry...no offense taken..:)

  • Awesome tut. I gave it 5 stars, it taught me a lot.

However, this isn't a matte painting, it's a matte generated from a background (and I suppose combined foreground) plate.

Good job, easily understood even by a noob like me.

  • A matte painting is anything you add in "front" of the camera to change the scene that your shooting. they did this on glass back in the day yes i know. we can just do it easier now but its really the same thing. I placed the buildings in front of my scene. its no different then how they did it in "darby oh Gills and the little people". ( dvd has special on how they did they effects.) my matte is digital and there matte were on glass but still the same idea in the end. thanks for the comment

  • I disagree.

Still and excellent tutorial. The results are awesome.

You are a talented artist, and teacher!

  • OH THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • sure no problem.

  • Yes!!! an even better tutorial :) , five stars!!!

  • neato! very helpful! 5/5

    first btw

  • this is how you do your magic!

  • No LOL i do not use matte paintings for magic. but it was a good guess. :)
