  • Very cool concept. I agree it could have issues in snow, and cornering in general, with the very narrow wheelbase. Might be worth adding so drag to stretch the wheels out to the sides further.

  • In other vids of the L1 debut, the demonstration driver had trouble getting in and of the car, tight fit. This car may have issues driving in snow. The light weight, auto theft and security issues. That being said, the L1 would best suit motorcycle consumers who are tired of getting cold and wet, and want a premium, touring-roadster.

Auto engineers upgrading sport coups would be wise to look at a tandem seating design; reduced size to combat fuel consumption for single-passenger-commuters.

  • wow, 1:35... The body, like on a Formula 1 is... m-m-made of, of carbon fibre, wif-rrinforced plastic. Damn man

  • Hurry up VW !! Put this into production !!!

  • Brilliant. Since many of us commute to and from work by ourselves, this would work for me most days. I could leave my V6 wagon at home which takes premium fuel most days.

  • Nice.

    Little short for me though.

  • no more "sex in the back seat" hahaha

but on the serious side, that is a very beautiful car, it reminds me of the batmobile when it goes into the narrow building and it gets super compact, like this car is.

I hope it can go in the market and be for sale at a reasonable price for people who cant spend alot of money on gas on the first place.

  • Would hate to get into an accident in that thing..

  • omg, i need one. maybe needs a bigger fuel cell tho, only holds like 1.?? gallons.

  • I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

  • Awesome machine. I heard about this car on the news earlier today and they reported the price tag to be around $600. Unbelievable tech these days. Too bad its set to release in china first around 2011.

  • well no more highway hummers lol

  • ooo i would get one if it won't be super expensive... >_>;

  • how with safety?

  • Wait a minute wasn't it the German's the bombed Pearl Harbor?

It's just a prototype if they really wanted to throw a scare into the OIL Whores they would develop a system of algae diesel fuel generating centers and sell conversion kit's to the millions of diesel car's in china and the rest of the world. And start an active push to sell more of their diesel Jetta's and Golf's that get even now over 59 mpg.

  • @Cervicconstruction please tell me your either 5 years old or had a concussion or just joking since I am Canadian and I know that Pear Harbor was bombed by the Japanese so tell me that you are just joking or you might want to go back to school or get into school

  • @UncleSamProduction

I'm guessing you have never seen Animal House..

Or don't you blokes get satire?

  • @Cervicconstruction Actually No but I would be delighted to be explained so you don't look you just walked into a stupid situation

  • First and foremost I spent five years testing for Auid Volkswagen I have to say that they are very far along in diesl development than any other auto maker.I'm sick and tired of hearing the naysaying jackwad's giving all the problems with developing a viable bio-diesel from alge.Listen when we put a man on the moon and brought him back it was less than ten years after the first orbital flight. It can be done it must be done.Only we are to fucking lazy or stupid to work it out. Please ftlog c A.H.

  • @Cervicconstruction woops sorry the first thing I saw was I thought you were trolling my mistake(actually not trolling but I thought you were just talking random stuff that didn't happen woops)K I will say that is intresting what you do and that I think I posted the comment early or sometime where I wasn't thinking(I think I just walked into the stupid situation D:)

  • @UncleSamProduction No worries mate if you have never seen Animal House please put it on your bucket list.

Have a good day and keep your eyes open always.

  • yo no podria dar retroceso en ese carrito!

  • Baby steps VW! This is a gorgeous machine with amazing fuel economy but, as a husband and father of two youngsters I just couldn't buy a two seater. Make a wider four seater that'd get even HALF the fuel economy and I'd buy one -- maybe TWO, LOL!

  • a better gift for a college child better than a sports car. haha

  • More efficient than walking believe it or not when both seats are filled.

  • I wonder how stable it is? Anyone have dimensions on it? Track width, height?

  • you can probably park 2 of those paralleled in a single large parking slot.

  • Hmm... looks like a nightmare for the oil companies

  • @wilsontt88 Good !! It's high time Oil comnpanies got nightmares !! Peak Oil is comming !! EV and hybrids and plug-in hybrids are the way forward with hydrogen being the future !! Hurry up VW put this care and other high concept car into production fast !!

  • I could see it catching on in europe if they could bring it in at a motorcycled price point.

  • Looks good, might not have one meself though..

  • Beats a scooter, for sure!!
