I was surprised when I read the comments. I thought there would be more "FAKE"s, as the reality of it seems ridiculous to some. It's crazy that incredible stuff happens when things are simply lined up properly.
To all critics, Sifu Burton is an excellent teacher and without ego or anything to prove any claims he gladly demonstrates anything he does and if he claims he can do something he stands by what he says and will demonstrate it ! I can assure you the punch is very very real and many hundreds (yes .. hundreds) of people have felt the punch power.
Many people may look at the clip and think is this real or not. I know Sifu Steven Burton will always be happy to demonstrate the punch etc on anyone who wishes to learn or see it performed.
A fine punch a pleasure to watch. Bones aligned, firm but pliable posture and connected through the body. Minimum effort, maximum affect.Energy is directed efficiently into the other person. Enjoyed watching and learning from this, thanks.
I love this clip. Not only is it a pretty good demo of Fajin, but it makes me giggle every time I watch it. Just the thought of the surprise of the fellow hit, hilarious. :-)
It is stuff like this that got me started on internal martial arts in the first place. We didn't have YouTube showing how lots of people are able to learn it -- I started on faith that it is possible.
I've been doing xingyi and bagua on and off for five years. I'm not the most diligent student. But I am now just getting to a tiny taste of fajin. Not to the point where I can penetrate that board (or maybe it traveled up his arms to the solar plexus). Enough to do at least as good as Wing chung one-inch punches if not better.

External power is like a baseball bat. Internal power is more like a whip. This is not to say that you should be limp, but you must be relaxed and flexible until the instant of impact. It is not a piston action, but as the power of a piston does not come from the rod, neither does a Fajin punch come from the arm. It starts in the lower belly and ripples outward with the whole body contributing. The ripple builds into a wave that crests in the fist. Fajin.
Yes, it would seem as if all the relevant muscles clench at the instant of impact. However in fact they do not all clench at the same instant. They actually trigger in sequence, but the sequencing is so fast it seems instantaneous. This is why many internal stylists refer to chi as being 'internal dexterity' as it takes rather a lot of it to get the sequence properly. If one part of your body is off in timing just the slightest bit, your fajin power will suffer.
its more like a sudden sneeze. wen u sneeze, u dont really think about it but it just shoots while your body goes out for a moment(mab shake a litle). the only difference is in fajin, the body become totaly filled w/ power that spirals out through the hand/foot. in true fajin, its practically unconcious action that causes body to shake violently

How is this POSSIBLE? Can people actually learn this?
assclown365 4 years ago
It is possible.
People can train it.
qaexl 4 years ago
so how do people learn?
assclown365 4 years ago
I don't know. I *do* know the art has to do with fajin (sometimes spelled fajing), and this particular guy does taijiquan (tai chi).
